Very good food. No atmosphere at all...

This was a joint birthday celebration recommended by two of the party who had eaten here many times before. I should also add that we regularly eat in top quality restaurants and have never had the experience we received today!!!! I rarely provide negative reviews as I choose my restaurants etc very carefully. I would like to think that I... More

This was by far my favourite of three Mayfair restaurants visited for lunch this week. A lunch deal of three courses, amuse-bouche, coffee and petite fours and half a bottle of wine was a steal at £49.50 a head with the overall bill coming in way below the other two places. This had the best food for presentation, complementing tastes... More

This was amazing in two ways. Firstly was the quality of the cooking. Flavours are deep, lasting and satisfying. The cooking shows a lightness of touch with the ingredients which allows them to shine through. Secondly the set lunch at £49.50 to include half a bottle of wine and coffee is incredibly superb value. You would spend more than this... More

Opted for the 8 course anniversary taster, and despite the uncomfortably persistent attempts from various staff members to push the black truffle addition at £35 a head, we went without. The menu was a celebration of fish, and each of the courses was exceptional, other than the duck, which i can't say I enjoyed. We had a fabulous Puligny Montrachet... More

Unfortunately the food was not great, a couple of the dishes were tasty but nothing delicious. A few of them were unpleasant and un-seasoned. Not great.

After reading some disappointing reviews I thought I would give Hibiscus a try and see for Myself. The staff are all very friendly but are almost too attentive. Sometimes it's nice to be left alone without a waiter constantly topping up your glass to try and get you to drink and spend more. The food was certainly not up to... More

Hibiscus offers interesting and unusual food. The Good Food Guide gives it a score of 9 out of 10, which puts it in the top ten restaurants in London. The chef is Claude Bosi. On this showing, he goes in for subtle, unusual flavors and soft textures. The wines were superb. Service was formal but not stuffy (all wait persons... More

Hibiscus We found ourselves wondering why there had been a three-year gap since our last meal at Hibiscus, and we determined to make up for lost time. The welcome was standard professional, and as we settled down to peruse the menu we were surprised that, first of all, we were the first diners to arrive and our surprise grew as... More

Excellent service without being too formal or over attentive. On reading the classic tasting menu it had to be done! Expensive, of course, you don't go to a two star resaturant with an eye on the prices. That said the set lunch looked very good value. The food was stunning and we had a very good meal. The food is... More

Staying in Mayfair

Neighborhood Profile
Mayfair
Set beside some of London's best parks and home to world-class galleries, luxurious hotels, and famed thoroughfares, the ultra upscale Mayfair is one of London's most exclusive haunts. Here the shopping is haute, the dining is exquisite, and the nightlife is vibrant. A casual stroll through the area’s chic streets will reveal that Michelin stars and chauffeured cars are practically the norm here. Even if you're on a tight budget, this exceptionally well connected swath of Central London is worth exploring, if only for the chance to take a peak at the goings on of upper crust English society.
