Set high up on the seventh floor of The Roof Gardens, offering amazing views of London's skyline, Babylon really is a cut above the rest. Your taste buds will be thrilled by the menus. The award-winning food at Babylon is best described as contemporary British and the menus change regularly to ensure only the freshest seasonal ingredients are used. There are Table d'Hote lunch menus available for two and three courses (Monday to Saturday) as well as a delicious Sunday Roast offering. Guests looking to dine al fresco can cosy up throughout the winter on our heated terrace to indulge in baked cheeses and fresh breads or enjoy a delicious fresh seafood menu in the summer. The restaurant can accommodate everything from an intimate dinner to lunch with friends. The private dining room is ideal for parties or meetings of up to 12 guests, with its own terrace overlooking the resident flamingos. For larger groups of up to 30 guests, a stylish, semi-private area can be booked and Babylon can also be hired exclusively for dinner and cocktail receptions for up to 120 guests. Babylon comes alive on Tuesday nights from 7.30Pm with the smooth tunes of live jazz. No need to bring your dancing shoes, just sit back and enjoy a delicious menu against a backdrop of live music. On Friday and Saturday evenings, guests can go to The Roof Gardens' private members' club on the sixth floor to continue their evening. Babylon at The Roof Gardens is a sky-high venue. The memory of mouth-watering cuisine, exceptional service and spectacular views will stay with you long after you have left.

Enjoyable meal, good food but ambience could have been better

That was a quip from my lovely daughter as we laughed at "ash" on the menu. Not a typo but actual ash. Tasted as if it had come straight out of the fireplace. Horrible ! Whatever were they thinking! Was it just way to sell mistakenly burnt food by pretending it was deliberate. IO don't know but I haven't been... More

We were very sorry to read your review following your recent visit with your daughter to Babylon. The Baby Chicken with leek ash is new on our menu. Ambience is fantastic and the interiors posh though slightly congested. Drinks- Cocktails & mocktails are really special. Meal choices are few but fab. Portion sizes are good and it is difficult to finish/eat the entire 3 course meal. On count-- of experience and day-out- this is probably one of the top places to visit..

Interesting venue lovely gardens with flamingos and ducks, service good but food very disappointing. Couldn't cut the meat off the duck leg, but was not charged for this course, not very good to have to complain though. First sat at a very rocky table so were asked to move, not a problem but surely this must have been noticed when... More

The corner of Hyde Park across the road from Hyde Park Corner tube station is glorious at this time of year. The Diana Memorial walk through Hyde Park to the splendid gardens outside Kensington Palace sets the theme; awesome gardens. Continue a little further along Kensington High Street towards Kensington High Street tube station and turn left just before the... More

Babylon is the restaurant attached to the Roof Gardens and makes for a decent place to eat before hitting the club or gardens. It's very reasonably priced, but don't expect anything special. I found the food and service absolutely ordinary, and perhaps a notch even below that. Michelin dining, this is not. The ambience and people watching are great, however,... More

Our daughter decided she wanted her wedding reception in the private room of the Babylon overlooking Kensington Roof Gardens despite never having even visited the place. But it was amazing. We had a private balcony with superb views over London. The terrace had plenty of seating for us and the private room itself was perfect, a large oval table that... More

We came here on a Saturday night after 9pm for dinner. When we called and made reservations the hostess gave us the first available time and was pleasant. Upon our arrival there was already a queue waiting to go up to the 6th floor (the garden) for the nightlife. We walked up to the bouncer and said we were there... More

Exactly how a restaurant should be, £29 for three courses and a glass of champagne very good value, food is incredible with beautiful presentation, staff are incredibly helpful with a great knowledge of food and wine, would recommend this restaurant with stunning views over London.

Staying in South Kensington

Neighborhood Profile
South Kensington
With its ivied mews, row upon row of Poppins-esque white washed mansions, and placid garden squares, it's easy to see the charms of South Kensington. And with superb access to Hyde Park, Holland Park and Kensington Gardens, as well as the largely child-friendly and mostly free Museum Quarter (not to mention more major attractions like Royal Albert Hall) such charms are easy to make the most of. As welcoming and cosmopolitan as it is reserved and residential, South Kensington is always a hit with visitors.
