Last night was my first time at Goldfish. My friends suggested it as nouvelle Chinese cuisine and to be honest I had very little expectations as previous experience tells me it could be quite hit and miss. We was seated near the back which had a lovely ambience, very different from the entrance which felt quite busy and congested. We... More

It was our first visit to Goldfish in Hampstead last night. We had been to their branch in Bank a few years ago and thought we'd try out this one as it's a little closer to home. It didn't disappoint! The scallop starter were probably some of the best scallops we've ever had anywhere and beautifully presented. The soft shell... More

everything too salty. black bean sauce awful - like salty gravy with too much flour. tried a wasabi prawn dish which had a gloopy vile green sauce on top like icing sugar. weird fusions that just don't work. stick to the simple starters like the dim sum, squid or sea weed. but excellent service and good atmosphere.

The atmosphere inside is really nice and the level of service is really good. However it is completely let down by the quality of food. We had dim sum, followed by chicken in black bean sauce and teriyaki salmon. All of it was pretty horrible and just so incredibly salty. So salty that hours later we woke up in the... More

When somewhere charges £4 for steamed rice, it must be a terrific restaurant to justify that. Goldfish is not. It is a slightly above average Chinese, with a bit of a sugar fetish. If you must go, I would focus on seafood dishes - we shared the mango prawns, which were inventive and tasty. They were also sweet, which is... More

This restaurant, when it was on the other side of the road, had a special feel. Now they moved it to a cramped, badly painted, narrow place opposite and has lost its nice atmosphere. When we went, back in September, they were having problems with their drinks license, which meant that they had to go to the shop next door... More

Having been a customer of Goldfish for many years despite their shift in locations and protocols, I must say that I am quite surprised at some of the comments that have made about the restaurant, in particular the negative ones which I feel are often rather unjustified. One particular review that shocked me was one that not only spoke ill... More

This is our first evening visit to Goldfish since it moved across the road. Tonight we were really impressed by the fast, efficient and friendly service as well as the main dishes. I had the delicious prawns with passion fruit and mango, whereas my wife took the duck with aubergines and we were both really over the moon. PS Just... More
