We dropped into Spicy Basil for a quick pre-cinema supper. It's a compact space, with an open kitchen, some people hanging about for takeaway and diners sharing tables that are close together. This is a no-frills cafe, serving really fresh cooked-to-order stir fry Thai/Sino food. Beef Pad Thai and Sweet & Sour Chicken (of the fresh, non-sticky prefab variety) were... More

Very good value and authentic tasting Thai fast food in a casual dining environment. Gets pretty crowded but the staff are helpful and worth the wait.

Been enjoying Spicy Basil since I moved to Kilburn 5 years ago... best to have in the restaurant where the cooks sort it all out right in front of you...but also good as a takeaway. Pad Thai and Creamy Red Curry are my go to dishes but I've never had anything dissapointing... It's not michelin star but it is excellent,... More

Spicy Basil is a fun experience. You should expect to walk out of the restaurant smelling of oil and fried food, but hey, the food totally makes it worth it. We ordered a lot off the menu - it was hard to pick but we settled on the spicy papaya salad, fish cakes and prawns, spring rolls, as well as... More

The food is consistently fresh, tasty, fast and ridiculously good value! The place is always packed with people either dining in or picking up takeaways - testament to just how brilliant this place is. The delivery service is also quick and reliable. We have now moved south of the river and this really is one of the only reasons to... More

My wonderful acupuncturist, Laura Ichajapanich, highly recommended this modest little eaterie in the very busy and cosmopolitan Kilburn High Road, London NW6. Very basic in decor, small and clean, this eaterie has about 10 tables on the ground floor, so closely packed together that the ambience doesn't really make it conducive for a lingering, romantic dinner. I saw food being... More

I live just up the road and reckon I've eaten at Spicy Basil about 50 times over the years! The food is always delicious, super fresh and cooked to order, plus it's really reasonably priced (main courses are just £5). My favourite dishes are the pad thai and yellow curry and they do a fantastic chicken and coconut soup. You... More

Unbelievably cheap for the flavour and quality of the food. The red curry and king prawn pad thai are my favourites, full of flavour and you get a huge portion! I happen to like the busy, buzzy atmosphere but they really do need to move into a bigger premises as Friday and Saturday nights are absolute chaos with customers practically... More

The quality of the food is absolutely brillant, the quantity just perfect and the price amazing. I would have given 5 mark if only they care for the fact that it is extremely difficult for their customers to actually reach anyone straight through. I have been referred by friends to Spicy Basil; Over the last month I ordered 5 times... More

Took a takeaway only to find hair In my rice and prawn crackers. Now I find this such a big let down as the food tasted great, its not the best feeling when seeing a bit of eye lash in your rice and a long piece of hair in your prawn crackers. I would go again but I would give... More
