We were just leaving from our holiday apartment for our flight and wanted to have one more meal before heading to the airport. Thanks to TA we found this nice and friendly place. The location is busy and noisy but inside it's just a cozy local pub. Fantastic service, quick kitchen, nice pub food. Would certainly return if ever had... More

Generally speaking I find it hard to distinguish between traditional pubs in London but Hoops and Grapes really stood out for me - mainly because of how well we were looked after. I booked a function room last night to play poker and on arrival we had a table set up in one of the function rooms with all the... More

I was pleased that this pub was open on Sunday because it is located in an area that is busy during the week with office workers. The pub is owned by Shepherd Neame with four of their cask ales on offer. I particularly enjoyed the Whitstable Pale Ale. Customers can also order three thirds of a selection of the ales... More

I love this pub, I go there a lot as the atmosphere is great and the staff are helpful and really seem to care about what they are doing. It does get packed after work but that just adds to the 'jolly vibe'. I haven't eaten there in the evening but the lunchtime jacket potatoes are nice and not a... More

We visited the The Hoop and Grapes in Farringdon Steet in Suday 5th January. The Hoop and Grapes is one of those rare pubs that hasn’t been completely “modernised”. The interior looks like it was in the 1960s when I used to go in when I worked in Farringdon Street around 1965. This provides a really nice atmosphere. In terms of... More

Hi Traveller Thanks for taking the time to write a review , reading it was a pleasant surprise. A group of friends, ex employers of the Evening Standard newspaper in Fleet Street, London, organized an 80th birthday party for one of the group during an afternoon on June 4th 2013, at the Hoop and Grapes. The celebration was held in a charming room above the bar for which there was no charge. An excellent Buffet was laid on... More

While there seems to be plenty of debate on which are the oldest pubs in London, Hoop & Grapes is at least one of the most historic -- and that's why we had to give it a try. Tired and hungry from all the sightseeing, we were looking forward to this stop. The beers (yes, plural) appropriately quenched our thirsts.... More

Whenever I have the good fortune to visit London, I always arrange a re-union and select a pub that is easy for family and friends alike to get to. This pub is only minutes away from the major train stations of Blackfrairs / City Thameslink as well as being nearby to London Understation ("tube") stations. The central location is just... More
