The best place to eat in Covent garden

I've been visiting this restaurant since the 1970's and it's still the best. Located in a small building among the tiny shops. The seating isn't like the usual eateries in Covent Garden, mainly downstairs, you will probably have to share a table or find somewhere in one of coves, but the food is... read more

Very sad indeed to be in Covent Garden and find a non descriptor chain store has taken over what was food for thought. London is a poorer place.

For years I have regularly visited London, even lived here in the 70s, and loved places like food for thought and cranks, both of which have vanished. I think london is losing its uniqueness and gets filled with soulless chains you can find in most metropoles now. So i wonder why bother to come here and pay the exorbitant prices... More

Was fantastic but now permanently closed due to rent increases by profiteering landlords and a mayor who invests in vanity projects but shows no support for local businesses which make London unique.

Loved this restaurant! After visiting this restaurant for over 30 years this is the end of an era for me. Don't know what I will do! Symptomatic of the stealthy destruction of all that makes London great. What ever are we sleepwalking towards? Thanks for all the meals xx

I have been going to Food for Thought for 30 years. It has always served consistently good fresh and tasty veggie food. It is cosy and friendly and the prices are great. It is really sad that it had to close at the end of June.

Being a regular since 1972......Food for Thought has now closed, due to the horrendous spiralling of rents which is destroying London and being replaced by plastic coffee shops etc.....

Get the Scrunch. It's a parfait of sorts...strawberries, bananas, blueberries, granola, yogurt?? all in a rectangular dish. They scoop out a serving for you and put it in a dish. I ordered mine to go so I could savor it while I window shopped. I really wanted to eat a meal here, but we had no time. I was determined... More

To just see that Food for Thought is closing is so sad! My sister took me to the restaurant while I was in London and the food was delicious. I had a quiche and salad, while she had a bean dish, both excellent. Prices are good here, especially for a lunch and it's a wonderful place to eat. Such a... More

Staying in Covent Garden

Neighborhood Profile
Covent Garden
Whether you're headed here to check out the multitude of shops, theaters, cafes, pubs, and restaurants, or simply to be among the multitude of people who pass through this pretty part of town, you'll love soaking up the festive and historic atmosphere in and around Covent Garden. Even if you don't have tickets to the opera or a show at one of the many famous theaters here, don't be surprised if find yourself captivated by some impromptu act of a street performer wowing the crowds in Covent Garden's Piazza. If you do have tickets, you'll be pleased to note that many of the local eateries accommodate theatergoers with prix fixe menus, early dinners, and later than usual opening hours.
