Wholesome, tasty and well priced

I came in here with a friend on a Thursday night for a bite to eat before going on to a comedy show. We're both veggie, so it seemed a good option. We each went for the hot dish with salads, which only costs £8.50! I had a ratatouille style dish with a lovely big mixed salad and my friend... read more

Had lunch here with my wife. Sat in the basement which was crowded but rapid turn-over of customers soon released a good spot! Lovely hot food at about a fiver and we shared a salad for another three pounds. Jugs of water so no need to purchase a drink. One of the best value for money places in central London.

Great veggie food for the smallest price in Central London. Such a shame it is going to shot down :(

I went to Food for Thought on recommendation, and so glad that I did. The food was superb, and some of the best salads I have had. The moussaka was incredibly tasty and the overall experience was 'not to be missed'. OK, the place is very 70s and cramped - but that's all part of the fun. Who will you... More

As friends have told me how wonderful your food is I am popping in to day - what a terrible shame you are closing I have only just found out about you! Shelly

I was gutted to read this place is closing down! I have been coming here for years and wanted to write a review to show my appreciation. I must admit some of the negative reviews do ring true, the service is not particularly warm, though it is efficient, and the premises are cramped (cosy!). However, the food is always delicious... Despite being a strict vegetarian, Food for Thought has never been one of my favourite places to go, although I did find myself going there more often than I wanted due to hunger and working in the Covent Garden area. Certainly, it's a London institution and a place to go once in your life, especially if you're a tourist, but... More

Such a shame this is shutting. We had a great afternoon meal and amazing fruit and cream scrunch. It seems the owners haven't got the fight to move and start up again elsewhere but us and hundreds of others wish they would.

So once again my choice narrows after June 2015.A further smoothing out of food providers, soon there will be little left that is just London.I am well used to the service and the food, which is some days better than others. No "nice day' here just good honest veggie fare.

You finally get off at Covent Garden, after having ascended 5 million steps from the chthonic depths of this imperial city. And then you find yourself on Neal Street, eyes all wide, whose vision sees the streets asparkling, full of funny and foul characters. The quiet and unassuming Food For Thought materializes on your left as you amble down the... More
