Delicious & fresh!!!

I've been here a few times over the years & its our favourite Vietnamese in the area. The food is always fresh and tasty. Soft shell crab and salt/pepper squid had a lovely, light batter- not greasy or heavy at all. One of the noodle dishes was too salty for me, but everyone else thought it was... read more

Visited here before a trip to the Hackney Empire to see a surprisingly excellent Lenny Henry in "Rudy's Rare Records". Anyway we had prawns with ginger and garlic, chicken with lemongrass, egg fried rice, and a large plate of special noodles - all delicious and under £30.

Really authentic Vietnamese kitchen with really affordable price list. Staff is looking after you as soon you come in, advice to call earlier to book a table, it's always fully booked, but it will not take a long time until you find a table if you are coming with no booking. The menu is still the same from years ago,... More

We had curry and pho and both were delicious. Also the beer was pretty good. The service was average and the house wine was cheap but not very good. Overall I would definitely recommend, the food was REALLY good!

Heard good things about this place so thought I'd try it before a night out in Hackney - great food, lovely staff, quick service and they were happy to let me have noodles which weren't on the menu, I fancied plain noodles minus the lamb and they were happy to assist. Basic interior but does the job. Would recommend the... More

Tasty food, cosy place, quick service and very friendly staff. I love the "Pho Chay" tofu and vegetable rice noodle soup, the best I ever tried and the summer roll, such a big and tasty portion. The Green Papaya is one of only two Vietnamese restaurants in Hackney that I would recommend (this one, is my favourite one).

I have lived just a 5 minute walk from green papaya for almost 13 years yet I never thought to do and give it a visit since I relied on my usual Vietnamese restaurant just up the road from there. However, one day upon discovering my usual restaurant was closed for reconstruction I sought to find another viet place to... More

Service can be a tad surly but the food is absolutely excellent food - if you can get a table, that is!

living local, we've been thinking of going for a while. And I'm so glad we finally did! Very good and quick service, tasty food and above all very fresh. We had summer rolls (the best I've had) and beef salad and pho. Pho was lovely. All portions are really big, so consider sharing 1 between 2. One slight disappointment was... More
