Elegant Japanese styling and delicious fresh food await you at London's Benihana Restaurant. Benihana is a favourite not only of tourists but of locals fresh from the nearby offices, relaxing with colleagues or indeed entertaining clients. In keeping with the Benihana brand the chain began in New York way back in 1964, this means that this year, 2014 is our 50th anniversary. This superb Japanese restaurant swaps the conventional kitchen for a central hibachi grill around which diners watch their food being prepared before their eyes. Boasting a wide range of meat, fish and vegetarian dishes traditionally cooked Benihana offers a unique Japanese dining experience not to be missed.

Great experience

Very nice place to eat and great experience! I have been there many times (with family, friends or my boyfriend) and we all liked it very much. The live grill experience is a must - if you are looking for something original. The food is good and the price is quite fair

Food is Of average quality and the service not great. Our waitress was particularly rude and unpleasant. The check comes to a high price and children's menu are extortionate. On the plus, the chef's little amused the kids, but that's not enough to make us come back.

If you have never tried ‘teppan yaki’, then this is a very good place to start. For a £29 set menu, you can select three out of four choices from tiger prawns, salmon, chicken and beef. Beef was tender and flavoursome, prawns were fresh and sweet, chicken was firm (not watery) with a good flavour. The salmon was good, but... More

Visit to Benihana was part of birthday surprise for me. Me and my wife were placed with 6 others to fill the space on the table. This actually turned out to good for us, as chef was able to put on an immensely entertaining show of cookery mixed with some random tricks as there were number of things to cook... More

Waited over an hour to be seated, when politely querying with a member of staff she literally bit our head off!! There seemed to be no order as to how people were seated, people that arrived after us were seated before us and it appeared that people were seated in groups by ethnicity (as there are 8 seats to a... The place is a bit pricey if you compare the quality and amount of food you are paying for but you need to remember that you are paying not only for the food but also the experience. We requested the lady who greated us to provide us with a good chef (good as in good entertainment value) and we totally... More

I used to come to this restaurant a few years back and it was definitely better. We were a large group so we booked the private room for 12. Min spend is GBP 60 per person which would be ok if the food and service had been up to scratch. We chose a menu at GBP 45 and received: 1... More

This has been a firm favourite for many years and it's still good! Always an experience as well as a delicious meal. They are fairly gluten-free friendly as they will use GF soy sauce if you request it- only wish they could do the amazing soup and salad dressing GF too!

Went for lunch but found that no other customers at that time. The waitress guided us to sit on Teppanyaki table and left us for w while to read their menu. Since then they didn't come up to ask our order, i needed to go to find them to take my order. Waited for 20 minutes the waitress put a... More

Staying in Chelsea

Neighborhood Profile
Chelsea
Wealth courses through The King's Road, Chelsea's upmarket artery of West London life packed with shops, eateries and glitzy nightspots. For people-watching at its best and luxury retail therapy that's largely unrivalled, this area cannot be missed. But if this showy street starts to overwhelm or a moment of price tag shock sends you reeling, a quick detour down pretty much any of many King's Road veins will reveal a quieter side of Chelsea. Here the stately Royal Hospital hosts its world-famous flower show, and the Thames rolls along at a lazy pace, with leafy Battersea Park and its Peace Pagoda beckoning from across the river.
