I live in south east london and am very much a supporter of local business and enterprise. After many years of being aware of this place, walking past and checking out the menu but never having gone in an opportunity finally came up to pop in for a meal. Three of us walked in without reservation 8pm Friday evening and... More

Having read all those good reviews about this restaurant we booked a Saturday dinner. As we arrived the place still was half empty. The first thing that struck me was an unpleasant stale smell - like a stale smell of a long closed fridge - very unappetising. We ordered wine and 3 starters to share: First - Succulent baby squid... I went here after getting a deal on Amazon local. The food was fresh and very tasty and I can recommend the Piri Piri squid. For Main I had the sea bass which was very fresh and complimented by a crumb topping.

It has taken me all of my approaching three score years and ten to go public on fish! I hate it! I like meat; thick, rare and red! Last night at the Villa Moura was really great. Good atmosphere, friendly efficient service. Scallops wrapped in bacon starter amazing! Beers, wine, chips, partners lobster all fantastic! My rare sirloin steak in pepper sauce?... More

Haven't been to this restaurant for a little while so must make a return visit soon. Food is always great. Never tried the meat except for Sunday roast, which was a little sparse for me, but that was a while ago so it may have changed. The fish is always very good which is why we go and the setting... My wife suggested here as she had heard it was good for fish. I went for the cod and I was not dissapointed, it was beautifully cooked and tasted lovely. The staff were very helpful especially as my wife can not eat dairy. They liaised with the chef and this did not prove to be a problem. I definitely recommend... More

The food is not Portuguese and it does not taste nice at all. I will not go back again and don't recommend it.

Thanks for the review. I am sorry that you had such a negative experience. While not all of our menu is strictly Portuguese, we do have numerous Portuguese dishes on the menu, as you will have seen during your visit. We pride ourselves on the satisfaction of our customers and appreciate your feedback. I do hope that you brought your... More

After several enjoyable visits to villa moura i was very disappointed. i ordered the piri piri chicken which is a pousson when it arrived it was upside down and i thought it was a bit odd, so i turned it over to find an empty rib cage, i called the waitress to ask for the rest of my chicken and... Hello, I apologise for the misunderstanding, but as stated on our menu, the dish is a whole poussin, flame-grilled with piri piri sauce. Owing to the age of the poussin (they are typically birds of around 6 weeks old), they are not the size of a fully grown chicken, nor have their breasts developed to the size of an adult... More

My husband and I had been meaning to try Villa Moura for a while now as we visit Portugal all the time and miss the food when we are not there. The food was lovely, great seafood and interesting specials. I had Lulas for a starter and then Prawns Piri Piri, my husband had both specials, Mussels and then Salt... More

Hello Becky, Thanks for the feedback. You are totally correct in saying that we are a modern European/Portuguese restaurant rather than strictly traditional Portuguese. The restaurant has been open for many years and although it started out selling traditional Portuguese Fayre, has evolved the menu to suit our customer's tastes. However, we try to adapt with changing trends and have... More
