Excellent food and atmosphere, poor service.

I went to Tayyabs with a group of friends on a Wednesday night. Even on a Wednesday, the entrance hall was heaving with people, and despite booking we had to wait a long time in cramped conditions before we were seated. Once seated, we didn't see a server for another 20 minutes! Despite the... read more

My daughter took me here when I visited her in London, she had read some good reviews. We booked but on arrival it was noisy and busy and nobody really seemed to care we were there until a nice older gentleman handed us over to a team downstairs. Sorry for the pun but the experience was really downhill from there.... More

I've eaten here more times than I can count. The food is always fantastic and the place has been smartened up a lot over the years. Its always busy and buzzing. Mixed meat grill starters are a must, and its worth adding some Masala Fish as well. Mains are all flavoursome with the emphasis on flavour rather than heat. On... More

We had been to Tayyabs located at the Whitechapel Street. the food is fantastic and one of the best Asian meals I had in the United Kingdom. I relished the vegetarian meals and that a few of my friends relished the non-vegetarian meals. Finger Licking - too good.

I went here as part of a group of around 20 of us and our visit was pre booked. We visited mid week and our table was booked for 3pm. We ordered lots of the starters and some naan breads. The food was nice, particularly the chicken tikka and the tandoori king prawns. I wasn't a massive fan of the... More

First off, I (and the friends I went with) am Indian and therefore know a thing or two about authentic Indian/Pakistani food. The food at Tayyabs is maybe more authentic than the average high street Tandoori, but the standards are far short of the real thing (check out my reviews of Paradise or Saleem's on Turnpike Lane (Victoria Line) if... Tayyabs is one of my all-time faves. I am a big foodie and don't often visit the same restaurant twice because there are so many amazingly yummy places to eat in London, but Tayyabs is the only one I make a visit to at least every other month. The food is authentic, cheap and tasty. The services is fast, friendly... More

Came in for dinner, 4. I made a reservation even before arriving UK, online! When we arrived, there was an hour and a half waiting line so I was a bit skeptical on how well an online reserve placed 1 week before would work! Well, at 9 sharp ( like we reserved) they called us and we were looking at... More

Staying in Whitechapel

Neighborhood Profile
Whitechapel
Whether you're here for its dynamic street life, world class galleries or famed curry houses, you're bound to be wowed by the uniquely cosmopolitan flavor of Whitechapel. Long gone are the days when Jack the Ripper stalked its streets. And despite his mysterious legacy bringing throngs of curiosity driven tour groups to its back alleys and otherwise serene garden squares, these days you're more likely to catch a cutting edge fashionista scurrying through its age old lanes than criminals of any sort.Whether you're here for its dynamic street life, world class galleries or famed curry houses, you're bound to be wowed by the uniquely cosmopolitan flavor of Whitechapel.
