Went here for a friends birthday at the weekend. I expected it to be busy on a Saturday but literally could not stop sweating, we were really uncomfortable the whole evening. We had a set menu and told the waiters there were 3 vegetarians and 1 vegan, however ended up with only a sag aloo and some paneer each. Everything... More

The atmosphere was alright but the food was not that good.. I went to needoo which is in the same area and that was better and cheaper than tayyabs.. There was more oil in the curry than the gravy which ruined the whole taste and our mood. Biryani was not nice either. The people from the UK may like it... More

this used to be my all time favourite place to get a great curry in the heart of the east end at reasonable prices, the breads and veggie offer all as delicious and varied as the meat choices. a special place with an even unique history. however, tayyabs seems to have become a victim of its own success. feels more... Romantic or atmospheric it is not. You don't come here for the wonderful service or romantic atmosphere. You come here for delicious/cheap food, a laugh with friends in a causal environment in which you get to bring your own booze. What more would one want? I will return again and again..... and again! Book in advance, or expect quite the... More

Went on a miserable Thursday evening. Despite having booked a table, there was a queue of about 20 ahead of us, and we were told to wait. Sorry to say, but I could not help seeing that at least two people had been sick near the doorway. I associate this with late nights outside cheap ` cheerful curry joints, after the... More

Top place in east London. Only complaint is the que is a mission but worth a visit. The food is all round very good and the atmosphere is vibrant. Probably best with friends rather then family.

Mix grill for starters with nan bread was very good and the main meal Karai lamb with rice was excellent and so was the salted lassi. For the price it was great but had to queue for over an hour in the cold to get in at 8.00 pm and also the place was packed like sardines.

Tayyabs is perhaps the most overhyped restaurant in London. Maybe in years gone by it's reputation was justified but nowadays it is living off former glories. The food itself is quite good, especially the grilled food and the peshwari naan which is delicious. However, this is where the good bits end. Perhaps if you can get a reservation it may... More
