Good food. Interesting venue.

Visited as part of a large work party of about 20. Had agreed price per head before visit and food was delivered throughout the evening. All hot, tasty and plentiful. Everyone left with a full belly of good food. It was very busy and there isn't much room between the tables. It's noisy but I... read more

So I visited Tayyabs yesterday for the first time ever and after hearing amazing reviews about this place - I was more than excited. We went as a large group (10 of us) to celebrate a friend's birthday and so brought our alcohol with us due to the BYOB policy. We ordered some mixers to go with our vodka...and they... More

Despite making an online booking we still had to wait for 40 minutes to be seated. At one point we were made to stand on the stairs for 15 minutes. The starters arrived 10 minutes after our main course and were really awful. The blandest thing I have ever eaten. The vegetable samosas were all potato with one single pea... More

For those who are worried by the negative reviews about service etc below, perhaps try going for lunch, as I did. It was busy but not over-crowded, I was served promptly and the food came quickly and as ordered. The main course dishes came only minutes after the starter, and while I was still eating it though. I would say... More

The restaurant is in a difficult place for parking as it's down a road which has limited spaces as well as the adjoining roads. Inside was very busy. We had a booking for 10 people & all arrived on time on a Sunday evening at 5pm. We waited in front of the reception desk whilst a member of staff was... More

very crowded, no proper glasses although byo was allowed. Spring water was given at the table with no option for tap.. it came up to be expensive. and everything they provide was chargable, including wipes. The food though was quite decent with big naans and delicious fish, mutton and chicken main dishes. Cheap for London dining

Took about 15 minutes to be seated and took about 30 minutes to have my order taken once I was seated. In the meantime, I was sat on the same together with a couple who arrived after me. First, they moved my jug of water, salad and sauce to their table. Then they took their order. Thirty minutes later, after... More

After hearing good things about this place I travelled down to see what the fuss is about. There was a small queue so was told to take a seat in the waiting area. I was by myself but as a single man in London, was planning to order a weeks full of food to keep me going. I sat there... More

Visited here on a Saturday night with 12 mates for a birthday meal. The place was rammed but luckily we had a booking. The manager found us eventually and showed through the manic scenes and to our table. The place is crazy but the service is efficient. I had the lamb chops- amazing! and then "dry meat special" to eat,... More

Staying in Whitechapel

Neighborhood Profile
Whitechapel
Whether you're here for its dynamic street life, world class galleries or famed curry houses, you're bound to be wowed by the uniquely cosmopolitan flavor of Whitechapel. Long gone are the days when Jack the Ripper stalked its streets. And despite his mysterious legacy bringing throngs of curiosity driven tour groups to its back alleys and otherwise serene garden squares, these days you're more likely to catch a cutting edge fashionista scurrying through its age old lanes than criminals of any sort.
