Description: For more than 30 years, Satay House restaurant in Londons Paddington...
For more than 30 years, Satay House restaurant in Londons Paddington has been attracting lovers of Malaysian cuisine from all over the capital and across the globe. Satay House Malaysian restaurant was given a rejuvenating makeover in 2006 by the designers of Wagamama so it now sports cheerful orange feature walls with hibiscus flower stencils, sleek leather upholstery and pools of warm light. Despite the name, the food isnt just about meat on sticks, though Satay Houses satay is likely to be the best in the city. Certainly the restaurant is a home-away-from-home for ex-pat Malaysians and there are regular visits from the Malaysian royal family. Large portions of fiery sambal and traditional rending curries offer the perfect opportunity to eat Hidangan style, or sharing with the rest of your table as in traditional Malay culture. All food served at Satay House is certified Halal and the soft beverages include several intriguing Malay offerings.

I hoped something more

I was disappointed after having read so good reviews of this restaurant. We had dinner to celebrate one Malaysian friend, he chose the restaurant and the fixed menu, so I was sure it would be a great dinner! Chose this place due to its good reviews and close location to my hotel. I know Malaysian soups are good and was not disappointed this time either: noodle, king praws, tofu and sweet-spicy soup. Super good but also a bit spicy, if you do not like spicy food. Meat portions are not very large compared to soup. Very popular place... More

On approach Satay House looked very busy and as a lone diner I didn't know if I could be accommodated. However, disappointed I was not! I was shown to a large table on the lower ground floor where I sat discreetly and was attended to immediately. The service was first class and really could not have been better. I only... More

Visited for hubby's birthday lunch as he really wanted a Rendang. He duly had his request and rated it as one of the best he had experienced. Basic surroundings made up for by the food and service. I had king prawns and they were fresh, thick and juicy, perfectly cooked to retain the flavour. Always pleasing when the resteraunt is... More

This is such a great little place tucked away and set back off bustling Edgeware Road. Have had many meals here and it never disappoints! Delish aubergine curry, steak with sou sauce fresh chillie and peppers and lamb satay accompanied by a carafe of Aussie Chardonay. Good service, nice vibe - like being in someone's front room - very relaxed!... More

I have eaten several times before at this normally busy little restaurant not far from Paddington Station in London. We had reserved a table for four in advance knowing that it was likely to be packed on a Friday evening - and it was. However, the service on this occasion was quite appalling - it took nearly 90 minutes for... More

Went here on 31/01 food was amazing and comparable to what I have tasted in malaysia. This was backed up by the fact my Malaysian boyfriend said it was very authentic and he is extremely hard to impress where malaysian food is concerned. Had satay, murtabak, beriani, roti canai, laksa followed by pisang goreng and tapioca gula melaka all very... More

This is a small restaurant but the food here is very good - simple Malaysian home cooked food. The standout dishes are the rendang beef (slow cooked beef) which melts in your mouth, the curry laksa. For starters, the chicken satay is good. I would imagine this restaurant serves the best Malaysian cusine in London as the others I have... More

Have been here twice in the past 2 months after not visiting for a few years. The first visit was on a weekday night and I must say the quality of the food was outstanding (chicken satay, kuay teow, kari kambing, prawns in turmeric/coconut) apart from the beef rendang not being as tender as I would have liked it. Service... More

We were in Paddington on a Sunday, and we found a table without booking. Plenty of space on the ground floor and similar down below. Staff were really polite and friendly, service was reasonably quick. We ordered fried king prawns (6 fantastic, light and fluffy batter, not v oily) and fried chicken wings (6, a bit oily, tasty, not too... More
