Description: For more than 30 years, Satay House restaurant in Londons Paddington has been attracting lovers of Malaysian cuisine from all over the capital and across the globe. Satay House Malaysian restaurant was given a rejuvenating makeover in 2006 by the designers of Wagamama so it now sports cheerful orange feature walls with hibiscus flower stencils, sleek leather upholstery and pools of warm light. Despite the name, the food isnt just about meat on sticks, though Satay Houses satay is likely to be the best in the city. Certainly the restaurant is a home-away-from-home for ex-pat Malaysians and there are regular visits from the Malaysian royal family. Large portions of fiery sambal and traditional rending curries offer the perfect opportunity to eat Hidangan style, or sharing with the rest of your table as in traditional Malay culture. All food served at Satay House is certified Halal and the soft beverages include several intriguing Malay offerings.

I have lived in Malaysia for 15 years. My wife is Malaysian. I am a serious Malaysian food nut, so my expectations, even though this came from my daughter, were not high. Made worse when none of the staff seemed to be Malaysian. Well my concerns were soon reduced when I discovered the Eastern European staff all knew how to... More

My wife and I are vegetarians and also like Malaysian food as we can typically find enough veggie options. We chose this restaurant after they informed us that it could make several dishes vegetarian (i.e. no meat or fish) and we placed our order for appetiser and main course. Our appetisers were average and the main course dish had a... More

Went here with my Malaysian in laws. Food was delicious and some of the most authentic we've found in the UK. Portions were good size and price was reasonable. The aubergine vegetable dish was superb - must try. Staff were nice but service was a little poor. For example our desserts came over 15 mins apart (Pisang goreng with delicious... More

I had dinner there yesterday so this is what I experienced: Service was okay, they were busy so took a while to take our order Starters - The Deep fried prawns - 6 in a portion, but very average taste - just deep fried in batter. They didn't put any Crackers on the table Main dish - The Malaysian chicken... More

Had lunch here. Good food. I had the satay and curry noodles. Price is reasonable. Service is reasonably quick. Would definitely go again to this place

Our first experience at Satay House was reasonably good. We did not book and were glad we got seats. We were early, seats filled up really fast as the lunch hour ticked away. Food was good. Prices were a bit on the high side - 4pounds for a Sambal Belacan - we ended up getting cut chillies instead, not because... More

I have been to Satay House many times. The food is consistently excellent. All of the dishes I have sampled have been delicious and well prepared. It is a casual and comfortable place to eat, not at all formal but with attractive interior decor and a welcoming feel. An excellent balance of quality and value. Highly recommended.

Booked last minute but we were able to get a seat. The food was amazing, and there were a wide variety of dishes on offer. The starter of satay chicken was a little small, however. Service-wise, some of the waiters were on the ball and very attentive, topping up our water without us asking for it and checking to see... More

After pouring over trip advisor for way more time than our casual night out really merited, we settled on trying Satay House for a midweek dinner. Restaurant was atmospheric, with mainstream acoustic music and the buzz of other diners. Service was quite good until the end when it took a while to catch someone's attention for our bill. We thought... More
