Description: For more than 30 years, Satay House restaurant in Londons Paddington...
For more than 30 years, Satay House restaurant in Londons Paddington has been attracting lovers of Malaysian cuisine from all over the capital and across the globe. Satay House Malaysian restaurant was given a rejuvenating makeover in 2006 by the designers of Wagamama so it now sports cheerful orange feature walls with hibiscus flower stencils, sleek leather upholstery and pools of warm light. Despite the name, the food isnt just about meat on sticks, though Satay Houses satay is likely to be the best in the city. Certainly the restaurant is a home-away-from-home for ex-pat Malaysians and there are regular visits from the Malaysian royal family. Large portions of fiery sambal and traditional rending curries offer the perfect opportunity to eat Hidangan style, or sharing with the rest of your table as in traditional Malay culture. All food served at Satay House is certified Halal and the soft beverages include several intriguing Malay offerings.

Came to this restaurant due to closure of Pak Awie restaurant. The place was too cramped and had to wait outside with my kid (on push chair) whilst my wife placed an order for take away. In general the foods are too hot and spicy and not as good as Bonda Cafe that we have tasted last year. On the... More

We had dinner here without any reservation. However, we went early so were fortunate enough to get a table. Food was nice but unfortunately they had "sold out" of chicken satay. We ended up trying their soto ayam which was delicious (especially on a cold winter's night). For mains, we tried various fried mee dishes. All were authentic and generous... More

Firstly, please make a reservation to if your want to visit Stay House. We were unfortunately denied a table on our first visit. The staff informed us that the restaurant was full and to come back in a hour or two. We were to hungry to wait around so we left, hungry and disappointed. Well our second visit, we got... More

I've been testing Malaysian restaurants in London for 'international dinner night' at work and my turn was coming up soon. I ordered the staples - coconut rice, rendang, sambal prawns and kangkung belacan. All I can say is... After 3 other Malaysian restaurants failed my expectations.. This one passed. :):) I will be bringing colleagues there and going back for... More

I was disappointed after having read so good reviews of this restaurant. We had dinner to celebrate one Malaysian friend, he chose the restaurant and the fixed menu, so I was sure it would be a great dinner! On the opposite, I found the food not so good and the service a little lazy. I suppose this was also because... More

Chose this place due to its good reviews and close location to my hotel. I know Malaysian soups are good and was not disappointed this time either: noodle, king praws, tofu and sweet-spicy soup. Super good but also a bit spicy, if you do not like spicy food. Meat portions are not very large compared to soup. Very popular place... More

On approach Satay House looked very busy and as a lone diner I didn't know if I could be accommodated. However, disappointed I was not! I was shown to a large table on the lower ground floor where I sat discreetly and was attended to immediately. The service was first class and really could not have been better. I only... More

Visited for hubby's birthday lunch as he really wanted a Rendang. He duly had his request and rated it as one of the best he had experienced. Basic surroundings made up for by the food and service. I had king prawns and they were fresh, thick and juicy, perfectly cooked to retain the flavour. Always pleasing when the resteraunt is... More

This is such a great little place tucked away and set back off bustling Edgeware Road. Have had many meals here and it never disappoints! Delish aubergine curry, steak with sou sauce fresh chillie and peppers and lamb satay accompanied by a carafe of Aussie Chardonay. Good service, nice vibe - like being in someone's front room - very relaxed!... More
