Delicious and good portions!!

Hate & Tortoise fed me through university. Ideally located a few minutes walk from my campus, I spent countless lunch times lining up with other fellow lovers for a chance to order their chicken katsu curry or any of their other incredibly generous and tasty dishes :) Love it and will always go... read more

Waited in line for 20 minutes, encouraging I thought..... Wrong ! This place, despite of the many positive reviews, is a cheap "commercial" feeding machine, where probably only some of the chinese dishes they are serving could be considered eatable. Unfortunately I went there for yakitori and sashimi and... Chicken yakitory wasn't even grilled, probably slightly boiled and warmed up... More

Delicious food and good service, the only negative was that there were too many thing I wanted to eat and found it very hard to decide.

Some really tasty Japanese food here and a good choice of dishes, However the place is let down as its always so busy! Each time I have been there was a long wait to get in, once inside you feel rushed and unrelaxed.

During my stay in London, I went back to the Hare and Tortoise for a spot of lunch. Getting there early was handy as there was a queue forming. However, I was quickly let in and had a look at the menu. I opted for Chicken Fried Rice as on the previous occasions it was very good. Not long after... More

Visited here for lunch while in the area on business. You could easily miss it even if walking around the Brunswick Center. Travel companion was a student previously so recommended it. Very good food and an extensive menu. It had a bit of a canteen feel to it so not somewhere to go for a intimate sort of meal. Worth... More

We went in just after midday on a Thursday and it was really busy. The service was excellent, served really quickly but you didn't feel rushed. I had Chicken Mein with black bean sauce with noodles, my husband had Tom Yum Ramen and they were both delicious. We shared some Spicy chicken sticks and tuna maki which were both gorgeous.... More

I've been coming here for years and there's a reason it's always so busy. The service can sometimes not be great, but the food is excellent, affordable and well sized. My favourite is the roast duck with rice. Seriously, get this. The katsu curry and Gyoza are also really nice. A perfect place for lunch in Bloomsbury or an early... More

I eat here on a weekly basis as it's super quick for lunch. The curry laksa and tom yum noodles are to die for and are always hot and too a high standard. Have never ever been disappointed!

Staying in Bloomsbury

Neighborhood Profile
Bloomsbury
Snuggly nestled within Central London is academic and leafy Bloomsbury, an area that boasts walking distance access to many of London's most popular attractions. It is also home to some of Britain's most celebrated museums, including the must-see British Museum. Despite an understandable popularity with students, tourists and day trippers, vast sections of Bloomsbury retain a quiet, residential feel year round and throughout the week.
