Just for a beer.

Popped in for a beer or two as we're working later that day in the BBC proms, Royal Albert Hall. Quite 'yuppy' clientele. Felt scruffy as was without suede loafers, floppy hair, pressed Paul Smith shirt and jeans. Well kept beer (doom bar, summer lightning, landlord) and an interesting chilli and... read more

We were searching for a quiet pub with great fish and chips kind of off the beaten path and we found it! Located in the Kensington neighborhood, this quiet neighborhood pub is a bit inconspicuous, however it is clean and comfortable with an easy going atmosphere and good service. Their fish and chips were the best we've had in England... More

Excellent visit based on Facebook recommendations. Happened to be a Monday evening so took advantage of their Burger Night promotion. Extremely good burgers - I had chicken, smoked bacon and advocado, my husband had pork, chorizo and caramelised onion jam - both very tasty and well presented. Good food, good service, good atmosphere.

This pub has been around for well over a century as the photographs inside attest, but in recent years it has had several reincarnations with changes of owners and managers and most notably changes of menu and chefs. The 2015 edition of the Builders Arms is a welcome improvement to recent previous years in every sense. It is now back... More

For me this was a trip down memory lane - I worked in this pub in the summer of 1977. The pub decor is thankfully updated and on early Friday evening there was a great buzz in the place as it was filling up with groups who had pre booked tables. Luckily I got a table. The menu is interesting... More

Nice food. Nice drinks. Nice hidden location. Very good service. Perfect for summer. Definitely a good place to spend your afternoon with your friends.

Visited for a small birthday on a Saturday afternoon. Atmosphere was pleasant enough as were the staff. But the food sucked. Between us we had many different plates. The sausage & mash sausages were burnt beyond recognition (and taste). The Caesar salad was swimming in sauce. The fish burger was more batter than fish. The steak sandwich was bland...etc etc.... I ate here based on a recommendation from a colleague and were delighted with the food. The drinks were also varied and delightful. I would recommend everything I tried including the mushroom toast appetizer, risotto and fish and chips. The ambience is great, but not for conversing as it can get very loud.

Great for drinks after work and on the weekends with friends. Young crowd (university students)band bar cooked food is disappointing and overpriced.

Visited this pub on the day of the boat race so a few of the tables were reserved, but me and my friends had no problem finding a spare table. Seemed to have a quite friendly and relaxed atmosphere and they had a nice selection of beers on tap - I recommend the blanche de bruxelles. Overall, definitely worth a... More

Staying in South Kensington

Neighborhood Profile
South Kensington
With its ivied mews, row upon row of Poppins-esque white washed mansions, and placid garden squares, it's easy to see the charms of South Kensington. And with superb access to Hyde Park, Holland Park and Kensington Gardens, as well as the largely child-friendly and mostly free Museum Quarter (not to mention more major attractions like Royal Albert Hall) such charms are easy to make the most of. As welcoming and cosmopolitan as it is reserved and residential, South Kensington is always a hit with visitors.
