Welcome to Chettinad, the world of phenomenal South Indian cuisine. Chettinad is a small village in the Southern Tamil Nadu State of India. Chettinad is known for its culinary delicacies and now is one of the many reasons why people get to know Chettinad. We are a no fuss, no frill, stylish, laid back diner, who just speaks of truly and honest South Indian food in the heart of Central London. We only know how to cook-up good home comfort authentic food freshly made to order with understated approach to service. No meal is complete without traditional Dosa, lentil pancake eaten any time during the day. Well! Certainly it isn't just another Curry House!!! "Ideal place to try something new if you are a South Indian food virgin" Back home in Chettinad, your dishes are served on a huge fresh banana leaf, a disposable platter. Contact with your food is direct and tactile as you eat with your right hand, mixing wet into dry ingredients - a messy business for the uninitiated. In Chettinad Restaurant here, we want you to experience authentic original flavours, therefore you would find some of our dishes served with fresh banana leaf. Today we appreciate and respect that you have entrusted your palate to us, we will take great loving care and take your taste buds on a journey where each mouthful sings a new magical ''WOW'' note. What a find! 3 of us were looking for a restaurant after an early evening meeting and chanced on the Chettinad. Everything that followed aws excellent. Sam looked after us attentively and the food was superb - possibly the best Indian meal I've ever eaten - or certainly for a very long while. The menu differs from a 'normal' Indian... More

Arranged a business dinner here for a group of 18 people. Service was good with the waiters offering a sensible amount of rice and breads for everyone rather than providing far too much so they can charge more. Everyone really enjoyed the food, being South Indian there are different dishes on the menu to what many of us were used... More

The "quick meal" - basically a Thali - is £9.95, which is great value. The flavours tonight were a long way from being subtle - but enjoyable

I'm usually indifferent about Indian food but I must say the food here is exceptional and I will definitely go again. The Dosa is a must try. My mom has scoured dosa in Malaysia and Singapore and says that she can't find a good one so I will bring her there soon and let you all know the verdict! From... More

We eat Indian food when we can--this food was very good--spicy and well prepared. Kowshik was a great waiter. If we were staying in London another night, we'd go back.

I've not had a more authentic tasting sambaar in London thus far. Went there for a lunch & opted for their special lunch meal which came with a good variety of south Indian dishes. The restaurant was quiet, very clean & staff were brilliant. Would love to go back & try their other dishes soon.

Really enjoyed the visit to Chettinad, the food was very tasty and had a good amount of spice to it, the portion sizes are generous and you pay a very reasonable price given how central in London you are. Would recommend the thali options as you get to try a little bit of everything and it definitely leaves you full... More
