Description: Named after a prosperous banking and business district in Southern Tamil Nadu, Chettinad Restaurant in Londons West End specialises in Southern Indian food cooked traditionally and authentically. Attractively sleek and neutral, Chettinad is a warm, comfortable restaurant with a contemporary look and feel and invitingly friendly service from experienced and efficient staff. The menu here at Chettinad is based around the famed culinary region of the aforementioned Tamil Nadu, a land bordered by the Arabian sea and the mountainous Western Ghats, resulting in a wide array of produce and flavours particular to the area. Chettinad draws on many specialties of Tamil Nadu, using fresh, flavoursome ingredients to recreate the grain and vegetable heavy dishes as well as the famed masala dosa, doubtless the signature dish of the region. A change from the usual tandoori style Indian cookery found in London, Chettinad provides locals and visitors with an opportunity to further explore the cuisine of India in chic surroundings under the guidance of talented chefs and knowledgeable waiting staff.

I was thoroughly impressed by the taste and quality of food. I have tried multiple Indian restaurants in the city and I have to admit that this is by far one of the best. Ranjit, the gentleman helping me with my order was extremely helpful and exceeded my expectations.

This nice little restaurant is only a five minutes walk from the tube, reservation is recommended. When we arrived, we received a warm welcome although the restaurant was nearly full. The food is great, different from the normal Indian restaurants. We had papadums, chili paneer, a very tender lamb curry, a seafood curry and dhal with spinach. Everything was absolutely... More

Chettinad was the perfect Indian cuisine experience we were looking for. Very delicious food for a great price. Will definitely come back next time when I'm in the UK.

The 'Chettinad Lunch Box' has been my staple mid-day meal over the last one year... I am an Indian student in a central London college... The wholesome combination of 3 north-Indian curries, rice, curd, chapaati for a little less than 4 pounds is a great deal... The food is authentically spicy and flavours are awesome... The ever-smiling staff members especially... More

Great meal at Chettinad's. The menu is limited (mild, medium, very spicy for chicken, lamb and fish). But everyone enjoyed their meal. We enjoyed the dosa as a starter - crisp pastry rolled and filled with a potato filling. ranjit was our waiter. He was such a help to us in choosing our main meal and accompaniments. He explained what... More

Loved the food. Had masala dosas and the house speciality. Our server was Ranjit and he provided excellent service. Very friendly. Will definitely recommend to friends.

I am bored to tears by the standard offering of Indian restaurants, you can't tell one menu from another. Chettinad however was a welcome surprise. The occasion was a lunch with colleagues and so we all chose the special offer lunchtime menu. At under £7 I did not expect much, but what arrived was a real treat. I had never... More

I really like this area of town (close to Charlotte street) and this style of Indian (Southern) is one of my favorite's. The service was great, We we're happy to try anything, and Jey told us he would just take care of the ordering - which was perfect! I recommend that. The meal was amazing, and the price was right.... Have eaten her many times and never a bad meal. Latest visit was July 18th and if anything place has got better. Staff especially Ranjit were helpful and friendly. The menu may be small but I am spoilt for choice. Will always return and as an added bonus it can found on the tastecard!

My husband and I had dinner at Chettinad Restaurant in July 2014. It is not a fancy restaurant but is clean and attractive and served an excellent meal for a very reasonable price. We have eaten at many Indian restaurants in London and Chettinad is one of the best. Not only is the food good but the service was friendly... More
