Description: Named after a prosperous banking and business district in Southern Tamil Nadu, Chettinad Restaurant in Londons West End specialises in Southern Indian food cooked traditionally and authentically. Attractively sleek and neutral, Chettinad is a warm, comfortable restaurant with a contemporary look and feel and invitingly friendly service from experienced and efficient staff. The menu here at Chettinad is based around the famed culinary region of the aforementioned Tamil Nadu, a land bordered by the Arabian sea and the mountainous Western Ghats, resulting in a wide array of produce and flavours particular to the area. Chettinad draws on many specialties of Tamil Nadu, using fresh, flavoursome ingredients to recreate the grain and vegetable heavy dishes as well as the famed masala dosa, doubtless the signature dish of the region. A change from the usual tandoori style Indian cookery found in London, Chettinad provides locals and visitors with an opportunity to further explore the cuisine of India in chic surroundings under the guidance of talented chefs and knowledgeable waiting staff.

My friend and I booked after the cricket on Saturday based on the reviews on here. We weren't disappointed as the food was excellent, and great value for money. It isn't fine dining, but is certainly the best tasting food I've had in a normal Indian restaurant. Well done to Jay and the team; even though it was a busy... More

Restaurant walking to Tootenham Court Road Tube in Fitzrovia, nice place very busy and good atmosphere. Well explained menu and different styles of curries from the South of India. Good value for money and lovely food would eat there again.

I went to this restaurant with my husband on saturday, downside of ging on a weekend is you have to pay almost double the amount for the same food. We were very hungry, so we didn't bother to explore any other option for cheaper food and went inside for their express luch deal for £8.99. The food was good, surprisingly... More

I was working in London for about 2 months, and this place used to be my go to spot if I ever felt like having South Indian food. And I can vouch for the authenticity of this place - amazingly close to actual Chettinad food. Food to have - Aadu Chukka (Lamb) and Chettinad Chicken/Thengai Kolli Kullambu and Kallu Dosa!... More

Excellent! Great food, nice atmosphere and very good value for money. I have tried multiple Indian restaurants and I have to admit that this is by far one of the best! The menu is limited but perfect. Thank you!

I came here with a couple of friends on a weekday evening for dinner. The restaurant was reasonably busy, but not packed. I'll start by observing that my food (the Chettinad Aadu with Pulao rice) was very good - warming but not too hot, tasty without overwhelming the flavour of the lamb. Unfortunately, the service let this down: * there... More

We found this restaurant with the help of Google whilst in a tea house around the corner. Having been on the go all day doing the sights, adults and children were in need of some serious sustenance and opted for Indian. Chettanad doesn't look much from the outside and whilst we were pondering a waiter opened the door and invited... More

I looked for this restaurant having been 18 months earlier with my mum and aunty visiting from Australia. Mum and I enjoyed it that much that we sought it out again and took my son. Such a fantastic meal again. By far the best Indian meal I have ever experiences especially the soup!!!! The service was excellent last time but... More

Great environment and very helpful staff, especially Ranjit, who was our personal guide through the Indian kitchen. We learnt a lot about food from different parts of India and tasted some of the greatest Indian food ever.
