Description: Welcome to Chettinad, the world of phenomenal South Indian cuisine. Chettinad is a small village in the Southern Tamil Nadu State of India. Chettinad is known for its culinary delicacies and now is one of the many reasons why people get to know Chettinad. We are a no fuss, no frill, stylish, laid back diner, who just speaks of truly and honest South Indian food in the heart of Central London. We only know how to cook-up good home comfort authentic food freshly made to order with understated approach to service. No meal is complete without traditional Dosa, lentil pancake eaten any time during the day. Well! Certainly it isn't just another Curry House!!! "Ideal place to try something new if you are a South Indian food virgin" Back home in Chettinad, your dishes are served on a huge fresh banana leaf, a disposable platter. Contact with your food is direct and tactile as you eat with your right hand, mixing wet into dry ingredients - a messy business for the uninitiated. In Chettinad Restaurant here, we want you to experience authentic original flavours, therefore you would find some of our dishes served with fresh banana leaf. Today we appreciate and respect that you have entrusted your palate to us, we will take great loving care and take your taste buds on a journey where each mouthful sings a new magical ''WOW'' note. Enjoy your meal at Chettinad- The Village Restaurant, where "QUALITY MEETS TRADIITON"

Visited chettinad during midweek with my partner based on trip advisor reviews. I must agree this place is very different to traditional Indian restaurant. Good here is from South of India and must agree with other reviews that it is welcoming change. Greeted by friendly staff and well looked after by friendly manager Jey. Thali and dosa is the dish... Food menu is very poor, not much to choose from. Our food order did not arrive together and they made us pay for the 'optional' service charge, not so 'optional' after all. Not a place to recommend.

Food was actually really good, but the service lacked. When I arrived, there were very few people there and after being seated I waited far too long to get someone to even ask what I wanted to drink. Once my drinks and food arrived, around the same time, the food was delicious. Had the recommended chicken dish, with basmati rice... More

Had a delicious meal tonight at this restaurant in London. The price was good and I liked the location. It was very popular with the locals. The waiter was new and in training but I will go back next time I visit London.

Nice and tasty, for south indian cuisine fans. The menu is varied and you can find all the south indian cuisine dishes. Some famous indian hits were missing (Nan, panner butter masala), but it was nevertheless good!

Very different experience to other Indian restaurants we have visited. Food was excellent as was the service. Sam was our waiter for the evening and explained all about Southern Indian food. When we told him we preferred mild curries he suggested what we should try and our food was excellent. When in London again we would definitely visit Sam at... More

My cousin and I really enjoyed our meal here, we were able to catch up, in a warm and welcoming room. We would definitely recommend. The food was fresh, flavoursum and arrived quickly. Our waiter Sam was attentive and professional but with an engaging personality which made us feel special and our experience delightful.

Very delicious Indian restaurant with a very friendly and helpfull staff. During our visit they helped and adviced us so much to choose our meals. The restaurant is very clean, the athmosphere kindly. I would suggest to book a table in advance. When we were there, -on a sunday evening- after 8 p.m. the restaurant was full.

What a wonderfull experience, not being used to Indian food, we were at the table wondering what to order, Jey, the manager came to the rescue and helped us with explanations and suggestions, at the end, we ate lamb, prawns, chicken and a big lentil wrap filled with delicious chicken, all for a very accomodating price. When i travel back... More
