Description: Welcome to Chettinad, the world of phenomenal South Indian cuisine...
Welcome to Chettinad, the world of phenomenal South Indian cuisine. Chettinad is a small village in the Southern Tamil Nadu State of India. Chettinad is known for its culinary delicacies and now is one of the many reasons why people get to know Chettinad. We are a no fuss, no frill, stylish, laid back diner, who just speaks of truly and honest South Indian food in the heart of Central London. We only know how to cook-up good home comfort authentic food freshly made to order with understated approach to service. No meal is complete without traditional Dosa, lentil pancake eaten any time during the day. Well! Certainly it isn't just another Curry House!!! "Ideal place to try something new if you are a South Indian food virgin" Back home in Chettinad, your dishes are served on a huge fresh banana leaf, a disposable platter. Contact with your food is direct and tactile as you eat with your right hand, mixing wet into dry ingredients - a messy business for the uninitiated. In Chettinad Restaurant here, we want you to experience authentic original flavours, therefore you would find some of our dishes served with fresh banana leaf. Today we appreciate and respect that you have entrusted your palate to us, we will take great loving care and take your taste buds on a journey where each mouthful sings a new magical ''WOW'' note. Enjoy your meal at Chettinad- The Village Restaurant, where "QUALITY MEETS TRADIITON"

Pleasant dinner with lovely service

Great authentic south indian food - my first tast of sambar for 20 years and it really took me back. Heaven is a masala dosa. Friendly and fast service, our waiter Ranjit was helpful, friendly but still profesional. We even got the cook's recipe for sambar. Will definitely go back, I loved everything about it - and it is even... More

Lots of choices on the menu. The food was delicious. The owner Jey was fantastic. The restuarant is great for both lunch and dinner.

Based on good reviews on tripadvisor we decided to visit the place. Actually it was a bit disappointing. Nothing bad, but as mentioned in the title of this review, really nothing special. We have had better indian food in many other places, and also nothing special for atmosphere or service. Just an average place.

Chettinad is where I go for comfort South Indian food. It is authentic yet accessible, reasonably priced and undoubtedly miles better than 99.5% of the phony 'curry' houses in London. The service is always excellent, with a special mention for Saravanan! One of my favourite restaurants in the city.

We went on a Friday night without booking but the staff managed to accommodate us anyway. Delicious food and very good service, especially Jey has been very helpful and answered all my questions about the spices used. I will definitely eat here again on my next trip to London (there are so many interesting dishes on the menu that I... More

We had a very nice meal here before seeing a show in the West End. My husband and I both had the fixed price express dinner. I had the chicken and my husband had the lamb. In addition to the chicken curry, the dinner was served with a variety of vegetable curries and included a side of bread and rice.... More

Had a lovely meal on Friday evening. It was busy but not over-crowded, the service was very good thanks to Jey and the food was amazing. It was lovely to have authentic Indian food. Although i didn't pay, it was very good value for money.

The food is lovely and the staff very accommodating, we were served by Sam who was friendly and helpful. The menu offered a good variety and I can especially recommend the Chettinad Kolli. I look forward to trying dosa on another visit.

Sunday evening, just arrived in London, hungry. Scanning TripAdvisor the Chettinad Restaurant fitted the bill, great reviews and ££ - perfect. We both ordered Chettinadu Kolli (the house speciality) with Pilau Rice and Pouri accompanied by two large Kingfisher beers (ice cold). The meal arrived and we were blown away, "Are we on curry heaven?" - we both agreed. The... More
