Description: Welcome to Green's Restaurant and Oyster Bar, a Great British institution...
Welcome to Green's Restaurant and Oyster Bar, a Great British institution in the heart of London since 1982. Open Monday to Saturday for lunch and dinner. Our seasonal menu showcases a range of great British classics, from an extensive selection of fresh fish to a range of expertly sourced grills and meat dishes, as well as our signature oyster platters. "splendid seafood" Zagat, 2014 We have a hand selected Champagne, wine, beer, cocktail and spirits selection, including 20 wines by the glass. Regulars and one-off diners are met with a smile and attentive, but not rushed, service. The essence of Green's is "low key" and quintessentially British. Deliberate understated and exclusive; elegant and refined. Our private rooms seat 6 to 36 guests or we can host 40 guests for a drinks & canape reception. Excellent fish and ambience

Contrary to some of the reviews, we had an excellent lunch here. The staff were bright and attentive and the food was excellent. The quality of the fish and cooking was spot-on. Contrary to some of the reviews, we had an excellent lunch here. The staff were bright and attentive and the food was excellent. The quality of the fish and cooking was spot-on. Disastrous service, over expensive. My 2 friends and I got terrible food poisoning after eating there. The oysters and the shrimps must have been off... The staff was extremely poor. One of the first experiences I have had in London.

Went along to Greens after a recommendation and found it to be very busy on the night with a great buzz & atmosphere - service was very prompt however whilst the quality of the food was very good the portion size was very poor based on the price per person - probably the poorest I have experienced

Went for a Christmas 'special' lunch with friends in a private dining room. The menu had no prices but I assumed it was fixed price for 3 courses. I chose smoked salmon - which was average; Turkey Wellington - which turned out to be a lump of dry turkey breast in ready made puff pastry and a pear crumble -... More

Took two American clients back here after an interval of 15 months as they so much enjoyed their last visit. I was embarrassed.Non existent welcome, inexperienced staff, service conspicuous by its absence and over-priced mediocre food. Implanted in my memory is two staff members separately impolitely refusing to take the fish 'off the bone' for one of my American guests ! Another... More

'Turkey Wellington' was a virtually raw lump of turkey in a bit of puff pastry with raw vegetables. Ludicrously pretentious. And over a hour's wait before sending it back to the kitchen.

There were just three tables occupied for dinner. We weren't surprised. Almost thirty pounds for a grilled fish and the vegetables were five pounds extra! The service personnel were difficult to understand and were barely adequate. 12.5% service was added and then they expected a tip when the credit card machine was produced!! There was no toilet at restaurant level... More

I took my wife and son to dinner here as it is just round the corner from our club. It is many years since I had been there and used to go often for business lunches and dinners. The welcome was half hearted and having booked a table for three we were shown to one that was laid up for... More

Staying in St. James's

Neighborhood Profile
St. James's
Perennially fashionable since the days of Henry VIII, the aristocratic “Clubland” of St James's is a premier destination for high end craft and bespoke design. Here you’ll lose count of the Royal Warrants (which indicate that the Royal Family patronizes the establishment) seen in shop front windows, even during a short stroll to bordering Green Park or St James’s Park. With the brightly lit and constantly buzzing junction of Piccadilly Circus at its northeast corner and none of Central London too far away, this is an surprisingly central and accessible part of town, especially given its prosperous demeanor.
