Barrafina is an authentic Spanish tapas bar located in London's Soho. It serves a traditional but contemporary, regional a la carte menu and there is a daily blackboard of specials, created by Executive Head Chef, Barragan Mohacho. Barrafina operates a first come first serve queuing system, and does not take reservations for their 23 stools. However, part of the fun of dining there is eating little bites and sipping on something delicious while making the line. The kitchen is open and guests are close to all the action and drama while their food is prepared.

Great pre theatre treat

We went there on a Friday getting there early (before 5) is a must. The bar only has 24 seats and fills very quickly. Prices range from £6 -£30 depending on what you want but the food is filling and very very tasty. I would definitely visit there again.

I can't say i am expert in spanish food, but this place has won a lot of my friends hearts as well. They use very fresh ingredients and the test is sooo yummy. If you are a foodie, you definitely need to check this one out, however they don't do booking, so you might have to queue, the secret is... More

Although I live in Cambridge, Massachusetts, I work for a company with offices in Soho Square so I have been eating my way around that neighborhood on trips over to London. This place always looked good, but the queue was intimidating. This time, a colleague and I decided to brave it. Good decision! The friendly manager told us that there... More

Ate here with the wife. Her choice...and the best meal I had during my stay. Got lucky arrived 5 mins before it opened and got seated immediately. People arriving 5 minutes later had to wait 2 hours until we vacated. They were able however to drink beer or sip wine while they waited standing behind where we were seated. Tapas... More

I love tapas and this place is great, with a nice selection of tapas and it has a great atmosphere any night if the week. We came in on a Friday night and it was rammed but luckily got a place sat at the bar, which was good. Food came relatively quickly and was tasty, although I found it incredibly... More

As per other reviewers advice, we pitched up just before opening on a Wed night to be sure of getting lucky pre theatre - we certainly were lucky because everything we ate was sensational. The restaurant has a great atmosphere, buzzy and interesting, I thought eating at the counter would be uncomfortable but it was fine. Staff were attentive and... More

Very salty food. Despite what we were told, that it was authentically salty, the three top tapas bars we visited in barcelona last week - Cafe L'Academia, Boqueria, Tossa - served incredible food that was NOT salty. Very efficient, attentive and slick service and running. The queuing system with the two lady staff assigned to 'queue detail' worked like streamlined... More

We hade dinner on the sister restaurant Fino where you can book a table, had a great dinner there. After this we went to Barrafina and had a glass of wine. The staff had a really busy night and told us right away that they did not have a place to eat, but for some wine it was no problem... More

I went to Barrafina with my friend to celebrate his birthday. As a good Spanish and food lovers, we agree that the tapas were great. we ordered different portions but the mussels were the best option ordered. The staff is really helpful and they keep the smile at all times ( it's really difficult to find a good service with... More

Staying in Soho

Neighborhood Profile
Soho
The go-to district for a good time in London, Soho hosts a wealth of world-class theatres and a compelling lineup of cafes, restaurants, pubs, bars, and clubs. At Soho's core is London's original Red Light District and the epicenter of the LGBT scene – and thus the city's hottest nightlife. For shopping enthusiasts, Soho is not only the home of London's greatest concentration of boutique shops, but also the most strategic place to set off on a tour of the world's most celebrated department stores. In the southern part of the neighborhood lies Chinatown, with its multitude of delicious and affordable restaurants. Closer to the Thames, Chinatown's narrow and teeming lantern-lit lanes spill onto the expansive hub of glitzy Leicester Square.
