Ranked #56 of 17,021 restaurants in London
Certificate of Excellence 2014
Price range: $72 - $72
Cuisines: Spanish
Dining options: Breakfast/Brunch, Lunch, Dinner, Late Night
Description: Barrafina is an authentic Spanish tapas bar located in London's Soho. It serves a traditional but contemporary, regional a la carte menu and there is a daily blackboard of specials, created by Executive Head Chef, Barragan Mohacho. Barrafina operates a first come first serve queuing system, and does not take reservations for their 23 stools. However, part of the fun of dining there is eating little bites and sipping on something delicious while making the line. The kitchen is open and guests are close to all the action and drama while their food is prepared.

Love this place so much. Had to queue outside as it closes for a couple of hours not good. When they let you in its like they are surprised, no real understanding rubbish. Twenty five minutes before someone speaks to me, they think a bottle of water will suffice. Food fantastic prices really expensive especially the clams great but used... More

Hi Simon, Thanks for taking the time to review Barrafina here. We're sorry for any confusion re opening times. At the moment the prep space is so compact that we have to close during lunch and dinner to prep for the next service. I'm not sure what happened once the doors did open but apologies if you had to wait... More

Great food, good selection of wine. Very busy but worth waiting 1 hour in line to enjoy the experience.

Tried a couple of times to get in but if you don't get there 10mins before opening you may have a wait. Apart from that I can only say the food is fantastic and I'd advise you to listen to the waiters recommendations, you cant go wrong, the quails eggs and stuffed courgette flowers were a highlight.

It still good but too oily!!! Can't go anymore. All the dishes are "in a pool of oil". It's kind of nauseou.

Hi Lola, Thank you for taking the time to post your thoughts on your recent experience. We are sorry to hear that your food was too oily and we are looking into this. It would be helpful to know when you dined exactly, day and lunch or dinner. Perhaps you could let our General Manager jose@barrafina.co.uk know if you have... More

well its true you have to wait for a table, sometimes for an hour..but you know what?? its too fun not to. the food is great, very authentic tapas, simple but beautifully made, if you only go the once its worth it, not the most sophisticated place to be, but that's not what its about, this is simple food done... Waited in the queue for about an hour but I can safely say (as an impatient person) that it was worth it. You have the option to order whilst you wait (not full menu but basics) and can "eat & move up the queue". Time does pass quickly this way. Once on the bar its a different experience - watching... I have been told to go here many a time and then opportunity arose. The place was great, not only all the food I ate, but the knowledge of the team. I went looking for some ideas and was not disappointed. Please try, it is well worth it. Bar counter eating in a leisurely manner. My only criticism was the... More

At this point the word is out on Barrafina. Out that you're going to have a spectacular meal, and out that you'd better get there before it opens if you want to avoid a potentially hellacious wait to get seated. So if you're in Soho and up for an early dinner or a spot of tapas in the evening, or... More

Great tapas place. Best in London? Maybe. I love the food and atmosphere. Sit at the bar and enjoy the view of the Chef giving his final touches in every dish.

We went to Barrafina pre dinner arriving a 5:30 in an attempt to avoid the queues that are a feature of this restaurant. We did, just taking the last two seats at the bar when my wife arrived in the nick of time ( I couldn't be seated until she came). I understand the queues can be quite long so... More
