Barrafina is an authentic Spanish tapas bar located in London's Soho. It serves a traditional but contemporary, regional a la carte menu and there is a daily blackboard of specials, created by Executive Head Chef, Barragan Mohacho. Barrafina operates a first come first serve queuing system, and does not take reservations for their 23 stools. However, part of the fun of dining there is eating little bites and sipping on something delicious while making the line. The kitchen is open and guests are close to all the action and drama while their food is prepared.

Amazing Food and Fabulous Atmosphere

I went here with my friend last night and it really is as good as the reviews state. We waited about 40 minutes for a seat on a Tuesday night at 6.30pm. We ordered the tomato bread (best I have had including in Spain). Spanish Meats, Flower Courgette, Chorizo and Potato and Chicken thighs. It's all... read more

I tasted 6 dishes and 2 glasses of wine which were all delicious. I do not remember them now. The atmosphere was great and especially the preparation procedure which is unfolded in front of you. The prices are a little bit expensive if you consider that I payed 60 pounds. It would be ideal for two persons who could share... More

Nothing in my eyes have ever come close to the foody experience I had at Barcelona's Cap Pep but Barrafina does a bloody good job at getting close. The atmosphere is buzzing - even in the queue it is enjoyable with a couple of drinks. And when you finally get to try the food is also simplicity superb. The quality... More

Went to Barrafina with a Spanish colleague and had an absolute feast..Everything perfect from the food to the wine to the service. The pulpo a la Gallega was so delicious that had to order a second. Try the Albarino wine which matches well with most seafood. Be aware that this place is first come first served so get there before... More

There has been a lot of hype about this restaurant being the place chefs go to and all that. I must say it was a little off putting knowing that this place doesn't take reservations. But having been there, the wait on a Saturday evening was really about 20 minutes which is completely acceptable. Food choices are wide and posh.... More

Hole in the wall in Soho, if you're not there when it opens at 5 there can be a 90 min wait on a Saturday. Go right after theater and get the winter prawns: fried with parsley, lemon, garlic & salt. The olive plate is superb too. Staff very friendly. All the seats are at a counter where you watch... More

My lovely girlfriend took me here, I had never heard of this restaurant. Seeing the menu, I had no idea what most of the dishes were or would look/taste like but I do like to be surprised. We waited about 20 min. Sitting at the bar has its charm. It fun to see the people at work and to see... More

The food is very good but the portions are smaller than what i remember the service is excellent in a very busy restaurant,i think they should put a minimum charge so people do not just sit down with 1 plate and a glass of wine for a hour plus

Yes there is a que and if you don't want to wait an hour or so don't. My girlfriend and I were quite happy to wait at the bar and enjoy a lovely bottle of wine and take everything in. While waiting we were towards the end of the que and a table outside became available. We were more than... More

Dined with friends recently. Place was packed, waited about an hour to be seated, but you can stand alongside the bar and have drinks and appetizers while waiting for your table. Service was absolutely wonderful – very friendly, efficient and attentive from the lady who served us appetizers to our waiter at the table. We were all very pleased with... More

Staying in Soho

Neighborhood Profile
Soho
The go-to district for a good time in London, Soho hosts a wealth of world-class theatres and a compelling lineup of cafes, restaurants, pubs, bars, and clubs. At Soho's core is London's original Red Light District and the epicenter of the LGBT scene – and thus the city's hottest nightlife. For shopping enthusiasts, Soho is not only the home of London's greatest concentration of boutique shops, but also the most strategic place to set off on a tour of the world's most celebrated department stores. In the southern part of the neighborhood lies Chinatown, with its multitude of delicious and affordable restaurants. Closer to the Thames, Chinatown's narrow and teeming lantern-lit lanes spill onto the expansive hub of glitzy Leicester Square.
