Barrafina is an authentic Spanish tapas bar located in London's Soho. It serves a traditional but contemporary, regional a la carte menu and there is a daily blackboard of specials, created by Executive Head Chef, Barragan Mohacho. Barrafina operates a first come first serve queuing system, and does not take reservations for their 23 stools. However, part of the fun of dining there is eating little bites and sipping on something delicious while making the line. The kitchen is open and guests are close to all the action and drama while their food is prepared.

Wow! Just Wow!

I honestly rarely give out a five star rating and this is why, because I reserve them for the absolute most fantastic restaurants and this is one of them. I really enjoyed the experience of sitting up at the bar and being served plates of tapas which I thought had a real taste of Spanish cuisine. Rich and tasty sauces. The best we had were the octopus and capers and prawns and garlic followed by the highlight which was the black pudding and quails egg. Good busy atmosphere as... More

We were lucky because it was a quiet Tuesday at lunch, so it was just enter and be seated. The staff was really friendly, and the food was not pretentious and with great taste. We tried 5 different dishes and all were well cooked and preserved the freshness of the fish and meat. A good experience that I recommend.

Last time I have been there in August 2014 I found that the quality of food wasn't as good as it used to be. I found the food was quite heavy... and lacking a little bit of imagination. I had prawns, mackerel, octopus, calamari, pork belly and other vegetarian things like tortilla... the best were the vegetarian plates. The fish... More

Barrafina has received consistently highly positive reviews but we've never managed to eat there since the "no reservations" policy produces very long waits unless you are prepared to come very early in the evening (or, rather, late afternoon). But today we were in Soho after visiting the British Museum and (on a very cold day) we walked by at around... More

We tried three times to get into this restaurant, the first time we were not willing to wait 2 hours, so we went to Cerviche across the street. (shall review separately). The second time we arrive to get the last 2 seats at the bar for Mon lunch. So happy we did. This is certainly a step up in quality... More

No booking & first come first serve. only bar area for seating & if your friend not arrive same time as you, you will have to wait until everyone there. need to go very early, after 6.30pm get really crowded & people queuing right next to you. Not a place where you want a comfortable & sociable dinner without being... More

Three visits to this tapas restaurant demonstrate consistent high standards ... Busy, and be prepared to wait .....but well worth it. Staff are friendly, watchful and on your side. A changing specials board contains amazing fish dishes alongside others .A well balanced main menu. Something for everyone here. Wine list not extensive but well judged..relax and go with the joy... Good value, thoughtful Spanish food which doesn't break the bank. Nice range of wines with plenty by the glass. Happy, fun and efficient staff. Recommended.
