Barrafina is an authentic Spanish tapas bar located in London's Soho. It serves a traditional but contemporary, regional a la carte menu and there is a daily blackboard of specials, created by Executive Head Chef, Barragan Mohacho. Barrafina operates a first come first serve queuing system, and does not take reservations for their 23 stools. However, part of the fun of dining there is eating little bites and sipping on something delicious while making the line. The kitchen is open and guests are close to all the action and drama while their food is prepared.

Good food but came with 2 hour wait and slightly expensive

Food was good. The wait in hindsight arguably not worth it, but good to try it once if you like tapas. Wouldnt wait 2 hours to experience Barrafina a second time. 7 plates with 4 drinks came to £103. Probably better to take the £103 and allocate to a trip to Spain and get the real experience... read more

Despite the fact that I have been in that part of London many times, I only found out about it last week. Went after work and it was packed. We waited for about 20 minutes enjoying a red wine carafe. We were seated at the bar. The recommendations of the waiter were spot on! Food was really delicious. We had... More

We queued on Easter Sunday evening for an hour, but it was definitely worth the wait! Food, wine and staff were exceptional. We must have been one of the last tables of a busy weekend and all the food was first class from start to finish. The deep fried prawns were delicious and I would highly recommend this, as was... Great food and amazing service, fortunately didn't have to wait for a seat, but the queue was 20 deep from around 7pm onwards. I would have waited though, as the it was an experience as well as a great meal. Everything cooked to order and enough staff to ensure quick service and time to explain the dishes. Would absolutely recommend.

My wife and I enjoyed this fantastic Tapas after reading food critic Tom Parker Bowles Sunday mail write up. We were told that the wait would be about 1hour and 30 minutes by one of the waiters, but waited no longer than 30 minutes. I cannot express just how much we enjoyed the wonderful dishes and great wine. I would... More

Had an excellent evening here, a bit on the pricey side but hey ho, we had a great time. Food was fresh, very tasty and creative, a feast for the eyes as well as the palate. Good wine select, we had the Alto at 80 quid a pop...all finished off with welcomed sweet dishes. Service was friendly for such a... More

My husband and I were lucky enough to dine at Barrafina during a trip to London over the Easter holiday. Barrafina is an excellent restaurant in a hip neighborhood, but it is a small local place, so you may have to wait in line for a spot at the bar. Don't worry, however, because you can drink wine and eat... More

Based on the advice of previous reviewers, we turned up about 15 minutes before opening at 16:45 on a Saturday and were seating promptly by 17:00. The menu is wonderfully diverse and interesting. My Girlfriend was spoilt for choice with Vegetables and Fish as she is a Pescatarian and the selection of meat dishes really excited me. Stand out dishes... More

Great place for an informal bite to eat. The food is excellent. However, time it well as the queue can get rather long. Good seafood dishes.

Staying in Soho

Neighborhood Profile
Soho
The go-to district for a good time in London, Soho hosts a wealth of world-class theatres and a compelling lineup of cafes, restaurants, pubs, bars, and clubs. At Soho's core is London's original Red Light District and the epicenter of the LGBT scene – and thus the city's hottest nightlife. For shopping enthusiasts, Soho is not only the home of London's greatest concentration of boutique shops, but also the most strategic place to set off on a tour of the world's most celebrated department stores. In the southern part of the neighborhood lies Chinatown, with its multitude of delicious and affordable restaurants. Closer to the Thames, Chinatown's narrow and teeming lantern-lit lanes spill onto the expansive hub of glitzy Leicester Square.
