We had read reviews and looked at the menu before booking this place, as this was close to the cinema we were going to. Dish after dish was disappointing. The waiter did go to get the fresh versions of the same dishes but we were done and just wanted to go. My friend said the soup was ok.

I know it is quite difficult to find a really good traditional tapas restaurant but this is not one for sure. Their food is nice but still very average. You can not compare the quality of their dishes with the ones you can get in Cadiz, Sevilla or Madrid. The other thing is that El Pirata is an extremely noisy... More

Charming staff, always consistent food, a good selection of white and red wine! Very authentic, this place is an institution. Highly recommended.

The kitchen here is top-notch & we've eaten at El Pirata a number of times and have usually been very happy with it: that's why we went back. Unfortunately, when it gets busy the service can be sporadic (that's putting it nicely). On the last visit we suffered through long waits for the plates and had to ask for a... More

been for a few business lunches but also date night with my wife or dinners with friends. It works for all of them. The paella is really good and worth waiting for, and the tapas list is pretty extensive. Padron peppers are excellent but they don't give you very many of them - otherwise portions are as you'd expect in... More

I've been enjoying the food, wine, ambiance and friendly service of El Pirata for 15 years now and have taken loads of friends there over the years, in small and larger groups. We've never been disappointed!

I was strolling through a new neighborhood (to me) in London. I love the tapas style of dining, so i thought i would give it a try. It was very late and even though they were closing, they happily accommodated me. The service was lively, interactive and friendly. The food was very good. The wine list was slightly more limited... We really enjoyed our lunch time visit to El Pirata. The food was good (especially the chorizo and potatoes) and not too pricey. We got a little irritated at the staff, as they kept wiping the table after every tapas dish we ate, it wasn't even dirty and happened 3 or 4 times. Also when I put my fork down... More

El Pirata currently has a deal on where you only pay 1994 prices. If you like tapas and a good glass of Rioja you should go and try it out - be quick as it only lasts throughout September.
