Great atmosphere and service

Booked last minute. Was given a warm welcome. The service was fantastic. We had a great waiter. The food was good and served quickly. Price was reasonable and we all left very happy. Would recommend.

We sat at the bar as the restaurant tables were very busy however I think this was a good thing as we enjoyed the hectic pace of the place as a result. The service was friendly, and the food excellent. We ordered as we went along which worked really well as the food arrived at a pace that suited us.... More

Been to this restaurant many times but visited last week and it's as good as ever, whether you decide to sit at the bar or in the restaurant the service is always friendly, and the food is excellent. Always busy no matter what time of the day you visit, a real little gem in Mayfair and a great place to... More

Dinner tonite with my lovely wife at El Pirata. No reservations - no problem. We were promptly seated in the downstairs dining area. It was approx 7:30. Waiters were prompt and extremely friendly and helpful for a couple of Americans. Food was prompt and extremely good. Dessert (flan) was ok, but carrajilla (espresso with brandy) was to die for. Would... More

Just around the corner from the Athenaeum in Piccadilly, the El Pirata offers informal Spanish tapas in a modern style. The decor is mainly black and white but has a comfortable atmosphere. The wine list of Spanish wines is extensive - but has inexpensive options (for Mayfair). We opted for the set menu and were surprised that after each course... More

We wanted only a snack before heading home, asked for a table on the ground floor and got one very quickly (don't go to the basement!) and after the first four tapas decided to stay for a full dinner. Overall: The tapas were good, but not exceptionell (esp. when one had tapas in Spain) and the service very friendly.

We visited on a chilly Wednesday evening (having made a reservation first, which I would thoroughly recommend you do in advance to have any chance of being seated in the entrance level area which is simply buzzing) In from the cold we were greeted very warmly and offered the opportunity to have a drink at the bar first or be... This restaurant has been running for 21 years in Mayfair and yet this is my first time, perhaps there's a reason why… Visited last night with friends visiting London, staying at the interContinental hotel, just round the corner. Lively place. Service was friendly and efficient but the food was mediocre. There are lots of better tapas restaurants in London, especially... More

Food was good but not exceptional. Service was good. Didn't like the wine selection for the wines by the glass.

We had a booking for a large table for an event. I turned up an hour before the booked time and they were happy to go through the plans with me even though they were very busy. We then had to move from two tables to one due to no shows and again they were very accommodating and sorted everything... More

Staying in Mayfair

Neighborhood Profile
Mayfair
Set beside some of London's best parks and home to world-class galleries, luxurious hotels, and famed thoroughfares, the ultra upscale Mayfair is one of London's most exclusive haunts. Here the shopping is haute, the dining is exquisite, and the nightlife is vibrant. A casual stroll through the area’s chic streets will reveal that Michelin stars and chauffeured cars are practically the norm here. Even if you're on a tight budget, this exceptionally well connected swath of Central London is worth exploring, if only for the chance to take a peak at the goings on of upper crust English society.
