We stayed nearby and were looking for a lunchtime spot when we came upon this little gem. The title of this review may be a little cliched but I can truly recommend this place. If you want a Spanish/Mediterranean atmosphere and authenticity with good food at realistic prices in Mayfair, give it a try. Just be aware that it is... More

I didn't ring to try and get in until teatime on the saturday we wanted to book for ... they told me they would get me in somehow and when we got there Paulo the wonderfully attentive barman had reserved us seats at the head of the bar where we love to sit whenever we go. El Pirata has a... More

We've seen El Pirata advertised in different publications and often thought it might be a bit of a tourist trap given the ads and location just off Hyde Park corner in Mayfair. This is anything but. Their awards are well earned. The tapas was fresh, good selection and variety and the wines were very good. We had great service and... More

It feels as if you have stumbled into a corner of Spain. Not just any corner, but one that has great atmosphere, fantastic food, a wonderful wine list, friendly and welcoming staff. A place to go to eat food that tastes good rather than looks pretty and have a great night out!

Love this restaurant! Stumbled upon it many years ago and brought my parents to the restaurant last summer when we were back in London. Great tapas and wine. Also, a fun place for people and car watching.

We have walked past El Pirata many times, always commenting on how we want to try it some day. Well, today was that day. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with kindness. My son and I were early, our table was ready and they sat us right away. When my husband arrived, we ordered our wine and... More

Staying in Mayfair

Neighborhood Profile
Mayfair
Set beside some of London's best parks and home to world-class galleries, luxurious hotels, and famed thoroughfares, the ultra upscale Mayfair is one of London's most exclusive haunts. Here the shopping is haute, the dining is exquisite, and the nightlife is vibrant. A casual stroll through the area’s chic streets will reveal that Michelin stars and chauffeured cars are practically the norm here. Even if you're on a tight budget, this exceptionally well connected swath of Central London is worth exploring, if only for the chance to take a peak at the goings on of upper crust English society.
