Probably one of London's most romantic dining rooms with a justly-deserved reputation for great food. The decor is dark and opulent (designed by owner Lady Weinberg Anouska Hempel) with black walls, lots of distressed leather, bamboo, luxurious cushions and Thai artifacts. Much-frequented by the rich and famous who love the combination of sexy decor, discreet service and great food. What's cooking? Pomelo spring roll with betel leaf salad. Atkin's diet chicken breast with a chili and lime sauce or tortellini des landes foie gras, roast sea scallops with ginger and basil; oriental chicken with a lime risottini; tamarillo sorbet with biscuit and coulis; iced chocolate almond pudding.

Lovely afternoon tea in a private birdcage.

I had an afternoon tea with my friends at Blakes Hotel. We booked a private glass room shaped like a birdcage. It was such a wonderful atmosphere. Staff was so nice & the service was great. Highly recommend for high tea lover.

Loved the food at Blakes' perfect for a romantic evening! The black cod is delicious! I would also recommend for a dinner before going out, not for a loud group but a sophisticated kind of dinner. The bar is very small but it's cosy and feels quite exclusive.

I don't think I have anything to fault with this restaurant; the staff were so lovely and cheerful, the atmosphere was lovely and intimate, and the food was out of this world. I don't usually order a lot of seafood, but I found myself trying loads of new things, to which I'm so glad I did. I will definitely be... More

Classy understated and unobtrusive service of a beautiful meal with my beloved made this a birthday meal to cherish. Breakfast the next morning was slow and leisurely. To quote Mr Schwarzenegger, "I'll be back".

My husband, our daughter and myself went for a New Year's Eve dinner at this intimate, very romantic and very elegant restuarant. Being New Year's Even I was not expecting the food to be good but not of such excellent level (thank you to the cooks). My canadian lobster was divine and my husbands white truffle risotto even more so.... More

Fantastic Atmosphere. I came here for a business dinner and got tempted by the white truffle linguine. It was absolutely incredible and I would highly recommend this place a date spot!

We are locals and go to Blakes frequently. We love going there because of the food and the cocktails and also because of Andres (manager) and his team. They really add to the experience- they are friendly, professional and fun. The food is delicious and we tend to get a selection of the smaller dishes, including the cheese soufflé (which... More

My husband, Bert Fields, wakes up every day of his life concerned about what he's going to eat for dinner. One of his reasons to go to London is simple. We stay at Blake's and eat there every night. We think it's simply the best restaurant in the world. It's also super romantic. Wherever you stay in London, go to... More

We had breakfast and 2 lunches here while staying at Hotel. Our young waitress on each occasion was helpful and charming. The full English breakfast was great, and the lunch items, gnocchi, seared tuna, crispy Sushi salad were really well crafted and presented. Very casual and relaxed, and a clever hand in the kitchen. The best part of the Hotel.

Neighborhood Profile
South Kensington
With its ivied mews, row upon row of Poppins-esque white washed mansions, and placid garden squares, it's easy to see the charms of South Kensington. And with superb access to Hyde Park, Holland Park and Kensington Gardens, as well as the largely child-friendly and mostly free Museum Quarter (not to mention more major attractions like Royal Albert Hall) such charms are easy to make the most of. As welcoming and cosmopolitan as it is reserved and residential, South Kensington is always a hit with visitors.
