Nous aimons The French Caf! Balham just got its own little corner of Paris right on the Ritherdon Road. Marked by a striped awning, patio area and glass frontage The French Caf fills one with a sense of calm before you even step through the door. Inside the very Parisian dcor is given a wry British twist; tiled walls announcing tea, breakfast, lunch, dinner, coffee sit well alongside old French advertising posters and specials scribbled in neat cursive on blackboards. Likewise, whilst during the day The French Cafs lively bustle centres around simple breakfasts the full English for one and lunches traditional steak frites, when evening comes the chicer side takes over as the Totterdown crowd take their seats for the more sophisticated but nonetheless traditional French offerings of boeuf bourguignon and cromesquis of salmon and coquilles St Jacques.

Now done Brunch, lunch and dinner, not really disappointed at any time of the day. Service good, prices good, atmosphere good and this place is just a great local hangout. Such a shame I don't live local, but great that I have friends who are

We had table for three at this cafe in Balham London. The menu had a good choice and our meals were excellent including the Merlot wine. Staff efficient and courteous

I came here in the early lunch hour a few fridays ago and was amazed at how busy it was. Its a funny spot for lunch but word has broken out locally and the place was full. So glad I booked. It is off the popular beat of Balham village(I am joking and not an estate agent!) which makes it... More

I visited this restaurant a number of years ago and must have forgotten how enjoyable it was. First a bit of a gripe the wine list not very big which is fine but really would expect more French wine on it although I'm guessing that this is because French wine is more expensive. Anyway starter I had the fruits de... More

Excellent value 2 course lunch for £9.95, potted pork with onion chutney and tarragon chicken, both were really tasty and well cooked. Very pleasant staff who were most apologetic when we were overcharged. Shame on the diners who left after underpaying their bill by £16. Loved the decor and ambiance - a very relaxing lunch.

Imagine going into a cafe and opening the menu to find out it's £7.99 for a bacon sandwich. Well imagine no more because that happens here. I nearly merde in my pantalons. Bit much isn't, £7.99?

Thank you for your review. It is not clear if you just saw the price of the bacon sandwich and wrote your review (Trip advisors non-existent policing allows one to do this) or actually ordered it and then wrote your review. Either way you didn’t mention that the bacon sandwich is served with frites. You also quoted the wrong price;... More

The quality of the ingredients was clearly evident as was the care taken in their preparation. Service was outstanding and the ambience made for a really enjoyable dining experience.

Had breakfast on a Sunday am and was impressed with this restaurant. The food was good and very pleasantly served, the waitress could not have done enough for us. However beware the gratuity which was put onto the bill. I paid same and did not realise, offering a further grautuity which was taken. I do wish I had read the... More

I visited the French Café with a couple of friends for dinner, great menu and very reasonable prices. Waiting staff were extremely helpful. Overall one of the best places in Balham
