Booked a table with this place online via their website a month before the blackheath bonfire show, as had been there once a year or so before, got email confirmation & turned up on the night to find the place had been replaced by a french restaurant quite a while back......really need to sort out their site & inform people... Been going to this lovely Taps Bar for two years in Mafair, it's a joy, have priced this perfectly for the location!! The atmosphere after six pm is electric. always start with asparagus & anchovies in lemon, then, the mixed grill fish plater is a dream- one will do for two; grate wine selection, the manager is so hospitable &... A pitcher of Sangria to start and several tasty dishes later, our tummy's were satisfied. It was unfortunate we had a time limit to our table and were hurried to exit, despite the fact that we didn't spy anyone waiting for the outside tables. £100 was a bit high for poor service and less than outstanding food.

These waiters seem to have been imported directly from Paris! The food at El Pirata was absolutely excellent. We chose seven or eight tapas dishes for the three of us, and the highlights were the chorizo in red wine sauce, and the plate of dried meats. Signalling for the waiters' attention was a chore though, and each time they approached... More

If you're looking for something different, El Pirata has a Chef's Tasting Menu that will give you a variety of interesting foods that will fill you up. Some are a bit odd....(there as a squid ink risotto), some are a bit stingy (Octopus thinly sliced with a spicy tomato salsa hardly had any octopus, and some are very very good....... More

We walked over to El Pirata de Tapas on Westbourne Grove after we were shopping on Portobello Road, and it was delicious. Lots of really yummy food - paprika calimari that was outstanding, a garlicky shrimp dish, a charcutterie of different Iberian meats, bread with a soft cheese, grilled asparagus with manchego, and others. It's definitely not a casual restaurant... More

Beautiful bar, cheery staff and very good tapas on a quiet Mayfair street. Quite popular, so make a reservation. Baby eels and desserts were the best (especially the fried banana),

I have been to El Pirata a couple of times now and always had a fantastic meal. After ordering many tapas I still have food envy as a variety of different dishes which I am yet to try land on other tables. The atmosphere can be quite noisy and busy so may not be the best place for a romantic... More
