Average food nice atmosphere and decoration

We went with a group of friend and we were very pleased by the buzz and the location, however the food was not great and was slightly overpriced. One of us wanted a cheese board and wanted to know what cheeses were in there, nor person attending our table didn't know, nor the people in the kitchen... read more

Popped in for a quick drink post-Chelsea Flower Show (wife not me). Pub was full to the rafters with people eating and drinking. Thought about supper so approached staff; told they were fully booked but you never know. Just before we left we were told a table had become available; this was meant to be. Simple but tasty crab toast... More

I have been to this restaurant a number of times and have always had a lovely time. The service we received last night was trully dreadful. The manager's haphazard interventions were plain rude. The main course (hake) was tasteless, bland and our complaints went nowhere. They stroppily removed our water jug complaining that we shouldn't have it as we were... More

Four of us for a walk-in lunch. The place does not have a particularly clean feel, a bit down at heel too. Food pretty average and definitely forgettable, service just about ok. Not really that impressed - wonder why I rated it this high!!

Have always loved The Garrison (since my first visit in 2003) but was reticent to go back today, having read the latest reviews. As the other reviewers have expressed, this place is a little gem and serves great British dishes. Whilst the atmosphere there can be both relaxed and vibrant, the customer service was rather disappointing and so the charm,... More

Staying in London on business ate here one night. This place is busy but got table without booking. very close proximity to other customers eating. Service wasn't that great. Processo £9.50 a glass. We had a main course each mine was luke warm and looked like it had been under the lights for some time as skin over the sauce.... More

We went here as a group of 4 and got one of the booth tables near the back which was nice as we were tucked away and could have a good long chat in the quiet corner. The food was really good and there was a range of daily specials to choose from as well as the standard menu. I... More

For the price of the meals this place could do a lot better. I really fancied a brunch type thing but low and behold being vegetarian I had to opt for eggs and polenta (or a risotto, what a suprise). Why anyone would ruin poached eggs with polenta I don't know but it was the closest thing I could get... More

This is a decent size pub but to be honest it seemed everyone was eating, not just having a drink. We went on bank holiday Monday having booked a table for 6 and it was full. A smallish menu which I understand changes frequently. Main courses were between £13 and £23, puddings around £6-£7, and house wine £19. They add... More

Lovely place but attitude of staff is terrible. Extremely rude and unwelcoming. They should train their staff on good customer service. They clearly have none!

Staying in Southwark

Neighborhood Profile
Southwark
Even before the arrival of the instantly iconic Shard, the riverside scene in Southwark had moved well beyond any up-and-coming phase of development. For quite some time, locals and out-of-towners alike have loved browsing the boutiques of Bermondsey High Street, foraging through the bounteous stalls at centuries old foodie haven Borough Market, and flocking to the banks of the Thames to enjoy some of Britain's biggest attractions such as Tate Modern and Shakespeare's Globe. Despite Southwark's many popular draws, instant calm can be achieved easily by turning down almost any side street. For more urban buzz, a quick stroll across famed bridges like the pedestrianized Millennium Bridge or the ever photogenic Tower Bridge yields access to the very core of Central London. And with London Bridge Station as this neighborhood's main transportation hub, getting across town (or to anywhere in England for that matter) is a relative breeze.
