Good pub

We had lunch here, you can taste a traditional fish&chips but you can try their daily oven specialities. Lots of food and yummy desserts too, let's try if you can

Lovely place but attitude of staff is terrible. Extremely rude and unwelcoming. They should train their staff on good customer service. They clearly have none!

Visiting London with my husband during the Easter break and stumbled upon The Garrison, what a great find! We really enjoyed what the menu had to offer but we ended up settling with the fish and chips. Great traditional British meal enjoyed in a friendly atmosphere. Staff were wonderful especially the Scottish manageress, who was very personable and welcoming! Will... More

The Garrison used to be a regular haunt of mine when I worked around the corner, I love the eclectic decor and the buzz of the place. We just popped in for drinks after a Bank holiday wander along the riverbank - it's good to know that within a 5 minute walk up Bermondsey St you can get away from... More

Went here tonight Booked earlier in the day and glad we did as it was very busy I had the steak which was nicely cooked My wife had the lamb which was also very nice although they had run out of mashed potatoes! Wine was very expensive . If it was a tenner in sainsburys it was between 30 to... More

Went with friends and on our arrival the staff found us a table pretty quickly, despite the place being busy. The staff were helpful, friendly and didn't forget about us! We all thought that our tempranillo wine was over-priced and rather average in taste. There was plenty of choice on the menu, but overall the quality was average.

Stumbled into this place, after fleeing the hordes of people at the Maltby Street market on a cold windy saturday afternoon. Great big burgers (a bit large to be honest, but delicious) fantastic gnudi in truffle butter, big perfect triple cooked chips, food for the vegan among us and macaroni and cheese, for my 9 year old about to lose... We had just arrived at London that day on the Sunday, and were looking for somewhere to eat. The Garrison was reasonably busy and was right across our apartment so it sounded like a good choice. When we came in we were told that we would have come back in 20 minutes as they were closed, even though they had... More

Amazing food all round. I tried the ox tongue, roast beef, parsnip and goats cheese tart - all were amazing and well priced. Great vibes and a great hang out place with friends!

Sadly the food didn't live up to the lively atmosphere. Fish and chips was well below par. Batter was overly salty to the point of being barely edible and I was served 9, yes 9, chips! More were ordered, for no extra cost, after my complaint. The salad on the parsnip and goat's cheese salad was drowned in vinegar and... More

Staying in Southwark

Neighborhood Profile
Southwark
Even before the arrival of the instantly iconic Shard, the riverside scene in Southwark had moved well beyond any up-and-coming phase of development. For quite some time, locals and out-of-towners alike have loved browsing the boutiques of Bermondsey High Street, foraging through the bounteous stalls at centuries old foodie haven Borough Market, and flocking to the banks of the Thames to enjoy some of Britain's biggest attractions such as Tate Modern and Shakespeare's Globe. Despite Southwark's many popular draws, instant calm can be achieved easily by turning down almost any side street. For more urban buzz, a quick stroll across famed bridges like the pedestrianized Millennium Bridge or the ever photogenic Tower Bridge yields access to the very core of Central London. And with London Bridge Station as this neighborhood's main transportation hub, getting across town (or to anywhere in England for that matter) is a relative breeze.
