Last Sunday we decided to go to the Shard, on our way there we came across this restaurant and we decided to go in as we liked the look of it from the outside. While it was very busy, the staff were great and seated us immediately. While there was an good menu we both went for the roast, as... More

A choice of roast on a Sunday and portions are not stingy, especially with the meat. Everything is cooked to perfection and well presented on the plate. Highly recommended, but to avoid waiting I'd book ahead!

Interesting place that doesn't feel like a public house. Nice pint of ale and at end of night not too busy so pleasant if u want something different.

This restaurant was recommended by a friend and she was right; great food in a great neighborhood with a warm and charming atmosphere. We loved it. Try the Sunday roast with Yorkshire pudding!

This time of year in the warmth it's great with the doors and windows open - like being in Provence! Really cool place with eclectic collection of decor...how many different light shades? Great service and great menu. Problem? Really yummy, ate too much, rolled home. Bit expensive but then I'm used to northern prices! Really like the area, vibrant newly... More

I went to The Garrison with a business colleague. It was very busy but they managed to find a couple of perches on The Bench by the kitchen. The woman who served us was friendly, professional, very efficient and attentive when we needed her to be. I had falafels and humous which was tasty but could have been a bit... More

We went a week ago to the Garrison for a Sunday lunch and had a good time. The place has this distinctive East London shabby touch with mismatched tables and chairs. The restaurant is quite bright with its big windows. The food was good too. I went for a Roasted aubergine, quinoa and other veggies salad, with other 2 people... More

We came here for Sunday lunch and were sat at a nice booth by the window. A few minutes later, we were asked to move to a smaller table by the kitchen. The food was nice, but perhaps a bit overpriced for what it was. We declined pudding, but sat finishing our drinks after the food had been taken away.... More

Went for breakfast with my father and we both had coffee and a full English. The coffees we had were not too bad however the speed of service was poor. I think I could have travelled to Guatemala to collect the coffee beans and make my own coffee in the time it took them to bring ours out. I can’t... More

Staying in Southwark

Neighborhood Profile
Southwark
Even before the arrival of the instantly iconic Shard, the riverside scene in Southwark had moved well beyond any up-and-coming phase of development. For quite some time, locals and out-of-towners alike have loved browsing the boutiques of Bermondsey High Street, foraging through the bounteous stalls at centuries old foodie haven Borough Market, and flocking to the banks of the Thames to enjoy some of Britain's biggest attractions such as Tate Modern and Shakespeare's Globe. Despite Southwark's many popular draws, instant calm can be achieved easily by turning down almost any side street. For more urban buzz, a quick stroll across famed bridges like the pedestrianized Millennium Bridge or the ever photogenic Tower Bridge yields access to the very core of Central London. And with London Bridge Station as this neighborhood's main transportation hub, getting across town (or to anywhere in England for that matter) is a relative breeze.
