Pleasant Repast on a hot afternoon

Enjoyable full tea service for two at a very reasonable price on a very hot summer afternoon; good service but we were never asked whether to refill for tea; AC a bit on the weak side. People have asked about dress code here, as far as I could tell (hot day), there was none.

The Wolseley is a beautiful restaurant with excellent service and delicious food. I have been here for breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea. On my recent trip to London, I enjoyed breakfast here on a couple of days. The donuts filled with homemade strawberry jam and cream were delicious. The smoked salmon and scrambled eggs are always good as the salmon... More

Having heard about The Wolseley for several years from friends I finally got the chance to go and I was not disappointed. The ambience is great although it can get noisy, the menu a little bit different which made picking my meal difficult as there were too many things I wanted to try. I thoroughly enjoyed my meal, as did... More

We had tea for six which was terrific. Great service and great atmosphere. We also happened to get seated on the mezzanine level looking over the entire restaurant floor. Definitely not cheap but if you want a high tea this place is just great. Everything about the experience was absolutely top shelf.

My wife and I recently ate here for dinner and we left slightly underwhelmed. I will say that there were certain parts of the meal that were phenomenal. First, the service was outstanding and the ambiance had a chic vibe. The appetizers we ordered were also both excellent, including the minted pea soup served cold, jersey oysters and the steak... Superb, very traditional, location is great, the food was excellent, service was very attentive, ok it's not cheap but we think it was worth every penny, We booked weeks in advance for my wife's birthday, we arrived, we were seated, it is quite a grand room, the menu will take a good read, then you have to decide, for me... When in london have your breakfast at least once in this great destination. First the place is fantastic, monumental and historic. Once bathed in this classy environment, start enjoying the service and goods. Had a classical English breakfast - nothing to reproach and very good fish cakes . A place to return to ... Especially since they also do lunches,... More

This is about as far as you can get from a North American "greasy spoon". It's opulence is more similar to Paris than anything. A wonderful dining room which is the real star attraction. I had the eggs benny with smoked salmon which was delicious. The English breakfast tea was excellent too. Fastidious waiters too. A traditional, classy experience. But... More

A colleague and I went there to discuss a project over breakfast. We had pastries basket and they were lovely. I had Egg benedict and it was delicious even though it was very runny for me. I had informed the waiter that I wouldn't like my eggs very runny. Coffee were also delicious.

Great food. We went there for an early dinner and it was packed but they still found a table for us. The steak was great and it came quickly.

Staying in St. James's

Neighborhood Profile
St. James's
Perennially fashionable since the days of Henry VIII, the aristocratic “Clubland” of St James's is a premier destination for high end craft and bespoke design. Here you’ll lose count of the Royal Warrants (which indicate that the Royal Family patronizes the establishment) seen in shop front windows, even during a short stroll to bordering Green Park or St James’s Park. With the brightly lit and constantly buzzing junction of Piccadilly Circus at its northeast corner and none of Central London too far away, this is an surprisingly central and accessible part of town, especially given its prosperous demeanor.
