Situated on the third floor of the Royal Festival Hall, perfect for visitors to Southbank, Skylon combines retro style with unbeatable views of the London skyline from triple-height picture windows to create a stunning dining complex. Situated by the central cocktail bar, the informal Skylon Grill restaurant offers light a la carte meals in a casual ambience. Executive Chef, Adam Gray describes his food as modern British – simple, honest and with a sometimes unusual twist on classic dishes. Renowned for its extensive wine list, the Skylon Bar also stands out for its quality cocktails and stunning view of the Southbank. A destination in its own right, Skylon Bar alone attracts many culture vultures who share the company of magazine editors and members of Parliament.

Excellent Steak, amazing view, top notch cocktails!

Went for dinner and drinks on a busy Friday night. Starting off at the cocktail bar, the service was very attentive and the view of the Thames was spectacular. If you like a refreshing fruity Gin Cocktail definitely go for the Botanical Garden. The Caipirinhas are also very good (but not on the... read more

The table setting and views across the Thames were wonderful, although the windows do need a clean. Service was very good. Staff were friendly and attentive. My husband and I ordered from the pre theatre menu. My chicken and ham pate was good. My husband had cauliflower soup. It was good enough. It was the beef that was disappointing. It... More

A colleague of mine from the US was visiting our offices and only told us on the day that it was her birthday, so I quickly booked a table for the evening at Skylon and made a small note that we were celebrating an impromptu birthday that night and if they could do anything to make the event more special... This was our second time here and we had a fantastic evening. We got a window table and the view, buzzing atmosphere together with an immaculate service are the best things about this restaurant. We did notice the food was brought in faster than usual, although this could be due to the fact that they operate on a 2 hour... More

Dear rooftopbabe, Many thanks for your kind words on service and some aspect of the food. Your feedback is invaluable to us and has been put to good use. Adam our head chef would like to appologize personally regarding the dryness of the halibut and the execution of both mutton and risottio. Please do not hesitate to contat me directly... More

Tonight 6 of us had cocktails and dinner. I have been many times before and tonight we spent about £1000. Shame that the cocktail waiter made a snide comment when we did not order cocktails from the list but instead had mojitos and shame that the wine waiter visibly rolled his eyes at me when I asked him to be... Dear customer 526, Many thanks for your recent visit and feedback. I am pleased to see that both food and most of the service were to your liking. I am honestly shocked that our bartender or somelier could have made you feel ill at ease about such a simple request. A lot of classic cocktails are not on the list... More

I was lucky enough to be taken here for lunch and the view was lovely. The food was delicious (scallops followed by duck) but it was a couple of points on service that lost the 5th star. I have never been bumped or leaned on so much by a waiter, it was very off putting, and the glass teapot had... More

Odd title but that is what happened. I came for my birthday and we did the tasting menu. It was very good, quite a lot of food but it went well with the wine pairing and it was good to try lots of different dishes. However, on dessert, two of our pineapple whatever they were came complete with piece of... More

Dear Juliet, Many thanks for your recent visit and appreciation of our tasting menu. I have noted indeed on the day of your vist that a piece of cling film had made its way to your pre dessert. The pineapple granite is indeed cling filmed in our fridge to avoid cross contamination and I can only appologize on behalf of... More

I visited Skylon restaurant last Sunday lunch time. The atmosphere was great, restaurant was full, there was nice music in the background. The staff although looking busy all the time was very polite and chatty, I couldn't ask for better service. The food was superb as well, smoked eel was exquisite. I am looking forward to visiting Skylon again.

We purchased a Skylon lunch ticket with our LondonEye experience. This was for a 3 course set menu meal. The Skylon is on the 3rd floor of the Royal Festival Hall just a few hundred yards from the Eye. We were shown to a table overlooking the river which was lovely. The menu offered 3 choices for each course. We... More

Great service. But food was nothing spectacular at all. Prices more reasonable than the main restaurant, but not for the average food. Would consider coming again for the pre-theatre menu, but with limited expectations.

Staying in Southbank

Neighborhood Profile
Southbank
Big time attractions such as the London Eye and a thriving theatre scene (compliments of the National Theatre and the Young Vic) are but a few of the reasons that Southbank is such a collectively cherished part of town. With plenty of family friendly activities and venues lined up along a pedestrianized river bank between Westminster Bridge and Waterloo Bridge, visitors can always expect a casual and festive atmosphere. On top of all the fun stuff to do at Southbank is the opportunity to simply sit back and admire photo-op views of iconic landmarks like Parliament and St Paul's Cathedral, just on across the Thames.
