Situated on the third floor of the Royal Festival Hall, perfect for visitors to Southbank, Skylon combines retro style with unbeatable views of the London skyline from triple-height picture windows to create a stunning dining complex. Situated by the central cocktail bar, the informal Skylon Grill restaurant offers light a la carte meals in a casual ambience. Executive Chef, Adam Gray describes his food as modern British – simple, honest and with a sometimes unusual twist on classic dishes. Renowned for its extensive wine list, the Skylon Bar also stands out for its quality cocktails and stunning view of the Southbank. A destination in its own right, Skylon Bar alone attracts many culture vultures who share the company of magazine editors and members of Parliament.

Simple menu but well executed

In terms of my actual experience I'd have scored lower as the air conditioning wasn't working on a particularly hot day which made it quite uncomfortable, but since it's shared with the rest of the building I imagine this wasn't their fault directly :-) The service here is quite formal but was... read more

After being told we had to be done by 9:00 pm because another table was expected, we were a bit put off, but we decided to leave without ordering when we literally could not hear one another at our table of four. The atmosphere was so loud that conversation was impossible. I understand the food is excellent, but dinner out... More

Enjoyed a nice enough lunch here today with a lovely table overlooking the Thames but couldn't help but feel this place truly comes alive at night. We ate from the set menu which was okay but not inspiring...as set menu's rarely are. The general feeling was we should have gone for the proper stuff which was our mistake not Skylon's... More

Dear Matriches, I would like to thank you for your lunch visit and subsequent very honest feedback. Lunch time during the summer days can indeed be a bit dull as we do not have any outside seating. Even though during the next three weeks the graduations will bring a great athmosphere to the restaurant lunch time. Please do not hesitate... More

This was an early pre-show dinner in the Skylon Grlil. Staff were extremely helpful and courteous and we requested on arrival a window seat if possible which we were given. Very accommodating with my food allergies (wheat and dairy) and there was a really nice choice of dishes on the a la carte menu which they adapted for me. Our... More

Brilliant place to stop off for a cocktail. We had just been to the theatre and were on our way to a restaurant a way from the touristy part of London. We stopped for a cocktail and give a lovely table. The cocktails were not only beautiful to look at but the taste was heavenly. We were topped up with... More

My wife and I ate here last Friday night ahead of the Burt Bacharach concert in the Royal Festival Hall. We chose to eat from the pre-theatre menu which appeared good value (about £23.50 for 3 courses). I had requested a window table a few days before but we were unable to be accommodated, the restaurant was quite full even... More

Dear Patmanslough, Many thanks for your recent visit ahead of the Burth Bacharach concert and subsequent feedback. I am sorry to hear that your starter and main course served from our grill set menu were not to your liking. The crab cake is home made with brown crab meat and is a best seller. I have passed on your feedback... More

We had a large group of 10 for lunch which they fell over serving us. I had the scallops as a starter which were nice but I personally didn't think we're that exciting however other members of our party said theirs was excellent however the main absolutely blew my mind. I had pork loin which was exceptional and excellent portion... More

We chose Skylon for a family birthday in June 2015 and were not disappointed. The food and service were excellent and every attention was shown to our party.

we visited this restaurant after Ascot races with all my family. The staff were friendly. The food was tasty and plentiful. There is a good selection to choose from. The price of the menu is good value for the money. Would definitely recommend

I have been to this restaurant a few times and I will be going back in the future! The service is always fantastic. The venue is great and when the blinds are open the view out over the Southbank is wonderful. The selection of drinks and wine available are good but very expensive. Also, for the grill (less expensive) section... More

Staying in Southbank

Neighborhood Profile
Southbank
Big time attractions such as the London Eye and a thriving theatre scene (compliments of the National Theatre and the Young Vic) are but a few of the reasons that Southbank is such a collectively cherished part of town. With plenty of family friendly activities and venues lined up along a pedestrianized river bank between Westminster Bridge and Waterloo Bridge, visitors can always expect a casual and festive atmosphere. On top of all the fun stuff to do at Southbank is the opportunity to simply sit back and admire photo-op views of iconic landmarks like Parliament and St Paul's Cathedral, just on across the Thames.
