Description: Situated on the third floor of the Royal Festival Hall, perfect for visitors to Southbank, Skylon combines retro style with unbeatable views of the London skyline from triple-height picture windows to create a stunning dining complex. Situated by the central cocktail bar, the informal Skylon Grill restaurant offers light a la carte meals in a casual ambience. Executive Chef, Adam Gray describes his food as modern British – simple, honest and with a sometimes unusual twist on classic dishes. Renowned for its extensive wine list, the Skylon Bar also stands out for its quality cocktails and stunning view of the Southbank. A destination in its own right, Skylon Bar alone attracts many culture vultures who share the company of magazine editors and members of Parliament.

Don't understand why trip adviser ratings are 4 or 5 for this restaurant and have to assume it relies on captive audiences for the Festival Hall. Take my advice - don't there are many other choice restaurants near by, with better service, value and food. Service first We were "welcomed" by a receptionist who was much more interested in inputting... More

I love this location, one of the best riverside spots, however, summer evenings mean blinds closed so no view! I had a fair meal - Meat sharing platter (a la Jamie), we both had hanger steak with a portion of good chunky fries and a salad. The wine was nice but expensive for what it was £25 for a 500ml... We arrived early and were asked if we would like to be seated or wait..we opted for being seated. Our greeting was very friendly and extremely courteous from a sweet girl. We were given the Pre Theatre menu that was a choice of either a 2 or 3 course meal, each course had a small but adequate selection of 3... More

We were referred to the Skylon by a friend who lives in London because I am married to an architect and the space is amazing. It’s from the late sixties and has never been updated. It shows a bit of wear, which adds to its charm. The space could be a Knoll showroom; many different styles of Knoll chairs are... More

We love Skylon and regularly go for Sunday lunch or in the evening for cocktails. However, a word of warning: don't plan on going for a sunset dinner in summer, as they close all the blinds to prevent glare! Such a shame as the view would be superb otherwise. Suggest having dinner at one of the many great outdoor restaurants... More

I looked long and hard for a nice restaurant to go to with my husband while away for the evening in Central London. I had looked at the website and it looked good. We had a window seat, which was such a bonus! The views are fantastic. The atmosphere is busy, but still intimate and romantic. I think the lighting... More

We went there for my best friends birthday and had cocktails there. The staff were really nice and friendly. Atmosphere is of a romantic kind. Unfortunately I haven't tried their food yet but will definitely try their food too.

I have been here twice and I thoroughly enjoy having a cocktail here before dinner. The food is good but these service can be hit and miss. I would recommend starting at the bar so you can bring your drinks over when you sit, and being ready to order whilst the waiters are within your area. I think its important... More

Dear dreamer, I am delighted to hear such a nice feedback on our steack from a nation with a great reputation for the red meat . Regarding the hit and miss service I must accept that when coming during pre theatre service, you can experience slight delays on drink and food service as we are experiencing a very high demand.... They try hard and have an enviable location. However, hard to avoid the impression of being fed and watered 'assembly line' fashion at the expense of a more balanced and caring restaurant experience.

This restaurant has lovely views over the Thames. If you order your meal by 18h30, there is a discounted menu. Food presentation is excellent and the portions satisfactory. A good venue on the South Bank.
