Situated on the third floor of the Royal Festival Hall, perfect for visitors to Southbank, Skylon combines retro style with unbeatable views of the London skyline from triple-height picture windows to create a stunning dining complex. Situated by the central cocktail bar, the informal Skylon Grill restaurant offers light a la carte meals in a casual ambience. Executive Chef, Adam Gray describes his food as modern British – simple, honest and with a sometimes unusual twist on classic dishes. Renowned for its extensive wine list, the Skylon Bar also stands out for its quality cocktails and stunning view of the Southbank. A destination in its own right, Skylon Bar alone attracts many culture vultures who share the company of magazine editors and members of Parliament.

Excellent service!

Came for a celebratory birthday meal and we weren't disappointed. Good menu choices and the staff gave good, unobtrusive service. The little extras they gave - free pre-starter and digestif were most welcome. I would definitely go back.

Went tonight as part of celebration day. Great location and unbelievable views - on a par with the Shard. Just did not understand how they can charge the drink prices for what is second hand out door furniture. The drinks area lacked any atmosphere, made worse by tables that all leaned. Each table seemed to be an island divorced from... More

We have visited skylon before but the restaurant side; not the bar and grill part. We both agreed that the bar and grill section has more colour, life and more relaxed. We were there for the ES summer offer, the Cumbrian black pudding fritters and the grey mullet were awesome. I am particularly pleased about the efforts of getting our... More

Try and get a window table - and watch the darkness descent on the Thames, and the lights bringing everything to life . . . PS food and wine and service is excellent . . . but the destination defines this place

We had a rather booze fueled lunch here... great G&Ts, lovely food, lovely wine and a lovely dessert wine... Did I mention that the food was excellent too!? Good service too, friendly, attentive and unobtrusive!

it was a family lunch on a special occasion and the Skylon ticked all the boxes. Service is really outstanding, as is the location with its views of the River Thames. The food was of a very high quality: the seared tuna nicoise that I had was one of the best I have ever tasted.

Visited on a midweek night - food as good as ever, portions seemed larger than previous visits which was a pleasant surprise. Service is good although all staff have strict roles from which they wont deviate ! Always worth a visit to eat good food and watch life on the southbank go by

Getting a requested but not guaranteed window seat on a balmy evening made for a good start to a catch up meal for 4. The Friday night ambiance was buzzy rather than intimate. There was nevertheless sufficient space between tables to become immersed with one's own friends. The room was light and airy. It was enhanced by the changing Thames... More

Staying in Southbank

Neighborhood Profile
Southbank
Big time attractions such as the London Eye and a thriving theatre scene (compliments of the National Theatre and the Young Vic) are but a few of the reasons that Southbank is such a collectively cherished part of town. With plenty of family friendly activities and venues lined up along a pedestrianized river bank between Westminster Bridge and Waterloo Bridge, visitors can always expect a casual and festive atmosphere. On top of all the fun stuff to do at Southbank is the opportunity to simply sit back and admire photo-op views of iconic landmarks like Parliament and St Paul's Cathedral, just on across the Thames.
