I visited the Carnaby restaurant for a champagne afternoon tea in November. First of all, the venue is not exactly part of the Courthouse hotel, it is a small room with a separate branding on the other site of the corridor. My main grip was with the high-street coffee house level staff. The staff were either non-communicative or making lots... More

A big disappointment. This was a gift bought for me by my mum for my birthday. Firstly I will say the staff were friendly and speed of service was ok. However, the champagne was not properly chilled, nor particularly nice and the food was not of the quality I would expect from a 5 star hotel. The sandwich fillings were... More

My sister and I had the champagne afternoon tea here as a present for my retirement. The staff were pleasant and attentive without being intrusive. The surrouhding wer clean but a bit lacking for an afternoon tea as it was more of a bar than a restaurant. I'm not a connoisseur so the champagne seemed fine to me. It would... More

Having had numerous afternoon teas before ranging from little tea shops to country hotels I was really looking forward to the courthouse experience.. At the price and the location I was expecting good things. I cannot stress how disappointed I was! I took my partner to his first afternoon tea and was actually embarrassed. The sandwiches were very low quality... More

One of the worst afternoon teas I have had, maybe its because we had a late one, even though it was the only appointment left. sandwiches were stale, fillings were not impressive Processed turkey, and tastless cream cheese. and the cakes were old , the scones were just like biscuits very thin to halve and stale awful awful .. tea... We had the Thames Boat Trip and Champagne Afternoon Tea Deal and after reading some of the reviews did wonder if we had done the right thing however we had a really lovely time...the Afternoon Tea was plentiful and quite delicious...The staff were very attentive, friendly and polite, constantly offering more (tho not the champagne...tut) The courthouse featured in many... We were gifted a virgin experience 'champagne afternoon tea' in central London, promising all the experiences of the traditional afternoon tea (a la The Savoy, Goring, Ritz etc.). Though we have had afternoon tea 'proper' at these other places, we made allowances for a slightly different experience. The atmosphere and restaurant itself is very underwhelming - more cafe than restaurant,... More

We had an afternoon tea and whilst the service was okay, it certainly was not exceptional. The staff were friendly enough, but we had to request more tea, rather than it being readily available. We expected the service to be better and the general atmosphere / ambiance could be improved upon. Overall, okay but nothing that you make you want... More

We were given a Laterooms.com voucher for a champagne afternoon tea here but it was very poor. The environment has been unattractively modernised, pop music played continually and the tea was very average. The staff were great and very charming but the overall quality did not do justice to their efforts.

Unfortunately an over-rated, over-priced event. Staff disinterested, not very clean. Afternoon tea was disappointing for the high price charged. Despite raising concerns with the manager, no refund was offered. Not an experience to be recommended. Attention to detail is needed with some focussed training of the staff.
