We were gifted a virgin experience 'champagne afternoon tea' in central London, promising all the experiences of the traditional afternoon tea (a la The Savoy, Goring, Ritz etc.). Though we have had afternoon tea 'proper' at these other places, we made allowances for a slightly different experience. The atmosphere and restaurant itself is very underwhelming - more cafe than restaurant,... More

We had an afternoon tea and whilst the service was okay, it certainly was not exceptional. The staff were friendly enough, but we had to request more tea, rather than it being readily available. We expected the service to be better and the general atmosphere / ambiance could be improved upon. Overall, okay but nothing that you make you want... More

We were given a Laterooms.com voucher for a champagne afternoon tea here but it was very poor. The environment has been unattractively modernised, pop music played continually and the tea was very average. The staff were great and very charming but the overall quality did not do justice to their efforts.

Unfortunately an over-rated, over-priced event. Staff disinterested, not very clean. Afternoon tea was disappointing for the high price charged. Despite raising concerns with the manager, no refund was offered. Not an experience to be recommended. Attention to detail is needed with some focussed training of the staff.

3 friends and I had afternoon tea here, not up there with the best afternoon teas I have had but not the worst. Tea consisted of sandwiches with 3 different fillings, small cakes, scones with jam an cream, champagne and of course a choice of teas. Firstly, I don't like champagne and asked for an alternative drink which I was... More

I booked this through Virgin Experience Days. 2 for 1 offer. The bread used for the sandwiches was cheap, the scones were not homemade and were so thin it was difficult to halve them for the cream and jam, no butter, pastries were more like bite size biscuits. After we had eaten the waitress asked if we wanted more tea.... More

We were bought a Virgin Experience Voucher for Christmas for a river trip and afternoon tea. A fabulous tea with more if you wanted it - sandwich's, cake and scones all wonderfully fresh. Service was nice and not intrusive, Would definitely recommend it. Champagne to start and we were there nearly 2 hours.

I booked using an experience voucher from "Last minute.com". We were welcomed at the front entrance by the concierge and led into the "Carnaby", aptly named as its facing Carnaby St. From start to finish the service was impeccable even down to the point that the waiter realised our teapot needed freshening up before we were aware of it. You... More

Have just come back after an afternoon tea with champagne. Very nice even if scones were small. Was suppose to be a chocolate tea but they had run out of Nutella, not a major disaster. Would go back if groupon do another deal. Service was excellent, but London in summer heat is unbearable.
