Aah, très French on Brompton Road

We had a great meal. Greedily consumed fois gras, filet with bearnaise sauce, lamb and pommes frites. Washed it all down with an excellent bottle of 2010 Vacqueyras. All good. I'd go back.

Popped in here with my grown-up son for a late lunch on Sunday and we were seated without a fuss even though we had not made a reservation (always a good sign!!). I have been coming here on and off for the last 2/3 years as it occupies a spot on the Brompton Road equidistant between my home and Harrods.... More

I held my family birthday luncheon at Racine yesterday, a place we reserve for special occasions, and enjoyed our customary warm welcome, excellent cuisine, and comfortable ambience. The service unfolds like clockwork, utterly professional and responsive. Our pace was wholly accommodated ... there was no rush, everything timed to suit us. It's always nice to return to a favourite place... More

Not much was open on Christmas Eve but Racine was and we had a delicious dinner after church at the Brompton Oratory across the road. The food was excellent, service with a smile, and the atmosphere most congenial. The partridge was superb as was the Steak Tartare.

This small restaurant has a real French bistro vibe, with excellent servers and a not-to-be-beat fixed price menu. My wife and I enjoyed it so much on a Sunday night that we made reservations to come back the following Wednesday, and were happy that we did. It's in a wonderful location--half-way between Herrods and the Victoria and Albert Museum. We'll... More

Treating my nephews to the annual Christmas dinner is always special and I hoped that Racine lived up to my expectation Well it did, in spades!! The food was truly delicious and the waiter was charming and accommodating letting us share the cheese course before the desserts was a lovely French touch. The recommended champagne (at £160) wasn't actually that... More

An excellent meal. The restaurant takes obvious and due pride in its food, presentation and service. Depending on your timing, I suggest the prix fixe 2 or 3 course meal available prior to 7:30 pm - but unless you have a reservation, it may be difficult to be seated after 6:30 pm because the restaurant starts filling up around 7... Chose this restaurant because it was very close to the V&A .The style of cooking is very French - eggs mayonnaise, floating islands ,hangar steak with frites, game pate.An absolute delight! We had the lunch menu which was excellent value at £19.50 for three courses.Staff were unobtrusive and efficient .They anticipated your needs e.g. More of their very good bread!.Choice of reasonably... My regular book club night, six of us given some privacy in the back room. We want to talk author, good food good service. I have eaten here before so I know the food is excellent but the first time I've used as a venue for this purpose. Really can't recommend it enough. Excellent service and the food was a... More

My partner ate here some twenty years ago and she said that it hasn't changed in all those years. My first time impressions? Previous reviewers have pretty much said it all - lovely food, an amazing wine list that could do with a few slightly cheaper wines but our lunchtime carafe of house red wine was perfectly good and it... Neighborhood Profile
Chelsea
Wealth courses through The King's Road, Chelsea's upmarket artery of West London life packed with shops, eateries and glitzy nightspots. For people-watching at its best and luxury retail therapy that's largely unrivalled, this area cannot be missed. But if this showy street starts to overwhelm or a moment of price tag shock sends you reeling, a quick detour down pretty much any of many King's Road veins will reveal a quieter side of Chelsea. Here the stately Royal Hospital hosts its world-famous flower show, and the Thames rolls along at a lazy pace, with leafy Battersea Park and its Peace Pagoda beckoning from across the river.
