Great experience

It was a very lovely evening with the team. Delicious food, great wine, relaxing atmosphere and very friendly staff. Definitely would go back and recommend to everyone who loves fine dinning!

This is a 2-star at-most review because I feel quite annoyed by this restaurant. If they are no longer run by Conran etc why do they not advertise the restaurant as being "Under New Management" instead of keeping every detail exactly the same, as it was years ago, except the overall quality in most respects. As least then one would... More

We ordered sea bass and jerusalem artichokes risotto as mains. Both of the dishes tasted rather strange. Sea bass had a pool of super sweet butternut squash underneath which didn't go well with the fish and the risotto was sour and had some yogurt-like puddle in the middle. We then had pannacotta for desert which was more like a cream... More

We had the three course menu du jour for a very reasonable £20 sunday lunch. We were very impressed by all three courses, especially some beautiful rare beef, which was generously cut, the superbly served butternut squash soup in copper pots and a lovely dessert of pannacotta, brownie and icecream. We arrived at 12, and were happy for a relaxed... More

Had a very good pre-theatre supper. The staff were welcoming and very accommodating, one of our party was held up and as soon as she arrived they hurried to take her order and made sure her meal arrived with ours. The food was good and the set menu very good value. Only gripe was no bread.

The décor is now grey and coldly lit. The menu remains similar to the Conran days, but it is definitely not as high a quality - and there has been no commensurate reduction in price- but I'd rather have the quality back. Service was pleasant but it could be difficult finding a member of staff during the meal. The food... More

I've eaten here many times and it's a safe bet for reasonably priced French food and proper service in convivial suroundings. It's not always perfect but at that price, it's hard to beat. Recently I took a party of 10, the beetroot salad starter was unreasonably miserly but when we raised this with the MD he kindly offered us an... More

How lucky we were to arrive in London during the London Restaurant Festival. My son booked a very last minute Sunday lunch at the Almeida taking advantage of their Festival menu of three courses for twenty pounds including a glass of house wine. The food was superb: I chose a starter of salted beetroot with goats curd followed by a... More

The Almeida has suffered a nosedive in quality since the Conran days. The food still looks good but the taste is bland and the service is variable: when we went the selected table was not available; the first course ravioli was hard; the main course lamb requested as medium rare came as rare and initially without a meat knife to... I had been waiting for a special occasion to try this restaurant. We went last Sunday at 2pm. The service was very slow even though the restaurant was not even half full. We waited for about 20 minutes trying to catch the waiter's attention to just order our drinks. The food was ok but probably not worth the price. I... More
