Very expensive but very good

I've been there last weekend I don't mind paying a lot if the food is worth it. The sushi was very good you could see quality and freshness but the bill was astronomical. I could have eaten a lot more but my pocket wasn't that deep . For a treat it's great. Good selection of drinks, good people... read more

Having eaten in various different Japanese resturants in London and the rest of the world, I can say that Umu is not of the same standard. The food was not horrible but wasn't amazing either, it was average. It was also extremely over priced, and I have had more enjoyable meals for less money. I would not complain about the... More

We had a great dinner at Umu last night. Service was excellent. Servers don't speak great English but are really eager to help. Fish was fresh and beautiful. We plan to come back.

I love Japanese food and usually measure how good the food is by trying tempura. it was average. the sushi was also average. the price however was NOT average at all. totally over priced! way too expensive. The staff however were nice, friendly and helpful.

I have been visiting UMU for a couple of years and made the 6 hour round trip because I felt this was a place for gastronomic pilgrimage. However, my last experience was extremely disappointing - having travelled 3 hours we were told to order all at once as the kitchen was closing. We asked for recommendations and the sniffly, sneezing... More

This is a typical overpriced restaurant in London for the rich who don't really understand Japanese food. The price is ridiculous, especially sushi (average 8 pounds per small piece!) was awful. Other menu is totally average. I do not recommend to splash your money here (We spent £350 for two. There are much better and reasonable Japanese restaurants in London.... More

We had dinner at UMU last night and the venue is very intimate and high end. The service was excellent and the food outstanding. We do agree that the menu is eye wateringly expensive but this isn't your every day sushi Japanese venue. Go if you want to spoil yourself rotten! The Waygu beef was definitely the best I've had!

Amazing "Kyoto" food ( and if you know your japanese food there is a difference in regions) this is the best. A charming interior ( little dark) with top service. its quite expensive but a real treat for anyone

We have visited this amazing, faultless restaurant several times. The service is exceptional and personal yet discreet, all the staff remembered our previous visits and always were able to recall previous conversations ( very impressive) added to the impeccable fantastic food this is definitely my favourite place in London. Unfortunately due to the pricing we can't visit it as often... More

The food was amazing, but as a lover of most foods and being spoilt for choice in London, I chose "best dining experience" as the title for this review. It really was. But be warned, it was also the most expensive! Worth every penny though and we did not hold back either. Nobu may have more atmosphere, but food wise... More

Staying in Mayfair

Neighborhood Profile
Mayfair
Set beside some of London's best parks and home to world-class galleries, luxurious hotels, and famed thoroughfares, the ultra upscale Mayfair is one of London's most exclusive haunts. Here the shopping is haute, the dining is exquisite, and the nightlife is vibrant. A casual stroll through the area’s chic streets will reveal that Michelin stars and chauffeured cars are practically the norm here. Even if you're on a tight budget, this exceptionally well connected swath of Central London is worth exploring, if only for the chance to take a peak at the goings on of upper crust English society.
