Food was good. The setting and interior in the basement is quite good. Being a vegeratian, I didnt try most of the dishes but whatever was available in vegetarian was nicely cooked and presented. Worth a visit, atleast once. Staff was very nice and courteous.

Tamarind was one of the first pukka Indian restaurants that served good curry within a western ambience. No flock wall paper, no swirly carpets, no Eau de Mumbai on the waiters. It has a Michelin star. It's late '90s decor is looking dated, but the food remains reliably good. We left ourselves in the hands of the waiter who skilfully... More

Took the work crew out for dinner and everyone loved it. Pricey (not really) maybe a bit on the wine side for some, but your not forced to drink it, chilled tap water offered for free, no need to ask. The food I thought was fairly priced for that part of the world coupled with a high standard of food... More

The food was excellent, subtle flavours. This for me was one of the best Indian restaurants I have eaten in. The service was first class. A very enjoyable experience. I highly recommend.

Went for lunch with the lady, firstly its in a basement in Mayfair - no daylight which is a shame. Atmosphere good, service friendly and its not at all pretentious, a very welcoming feeling. Last visit 2 years ago was much the same, nothing wrong with anything in particular but not wanting to rush back - everything is a 7/10... More

The food was excellent - the meats were obviously marinaded in their sauces before cooking (unlike so many Indian restaurants) - the best Indian restaurant food we've ever eaten, but there were some basic errors that disappointed us. The restaurant seemed very crowded; the "background music" was unnecessary; the amount of food was huge - more like a local Indian... More

Having read reviews on Tripadvisor and briefly looking at the menu online before I went, I had high hopes for Tamarind. Things started off well. We received a warm and friendly reception at the door and were led down to our table. The restaurant was beautifully presented and increased my expectations. The staff were friendly and efficient, it was all... More
