Lovely atmosphere and great food!

Loved the food here, went for the pre theatre menu and I highly recommend that! Staff were wonderful and manager was lovely! Only disappointment one of the desserts had run out (pistachio kulfi) which my partner was looking forward to. Other than that would definitely return again :)

Shockingly charge just under 20 pounds for a shot of brand. Quite suprisingly disgusting. Go elsewhere for peace of mind if you drink alcohol. Very very poor management. Go elsewhere to eat

We've wondered for a long time whether Michelin starred Indian food would be as superior to "good" Indian restaurants as we hoped it might be. Based on our experience at Tamarind, the answer is no. The food was good, but not amazing (king prawns excluded, which were fantastic), the service was impersonal yet fussy at the same time, and the... More

My wife, 15 year old son and I were on a whistle stop two day London visit. Monday night was spent having dinner with our MP in the House of Commons which was fantastic so I wanted to make lunch the next day similarly memorable...we were not disappointed. You soon forget that the dining room is in the basement as... More

Really enjoyed the meal we had here to celebrate 3 birthdays. We asked the waiter to bring us what they would recommend as we really did not know what to order ourselves. Their starter of chicken, king prawn and lamb chop done in the tandoor was really nice, but the chick pea and yoghurt accompaniment was in another league! We... More

Every time I am in London I cannot miss having dinner in this great place. I especially love the peshawari lamb kebab, one of the best dishes I have ever eaten.. It never cease to amaze me! The staff is very kind and professional, even if I didn't like not being able to have a look to the bottle from... More

This was our 2nd visit to Tamarind, and it lived up to the memory of our first visit when we were last in London a couple of years ago. The menu was so varied that we put ourselves in our waiter's hands to select dishes for us. We weren't disappointed. Everything was delicious. There were no mediocre dishes. There are... More

Our third visit to Tamarind, and our second on New Years Eve (yes this is a belated review!). Food was once again fantastic, and although it was set menu, we enjoyed every course (1 x meat eater and 1 x vegetarian). Staff were very pleasant and the service very slick. We will return!

We took the set lunch for GBP21, which is great value. the restaurant is approached down grotty stairs and the bathrooms are maintained 1980 style. The restaurant itself is plainly furnished. but we come for food. well some items were exquisite- those that had to be cooked fresh, many items were not. The contrast was so great i can obnly... Superb food, great atmosphere, excellent service. We chose the set menu for a Sunday lunch. They tailored the menu swapping the meat courses for fish for me. I was very impressed. We discovered new exciting dishes and I had the nicest prawn curry I have ever had. We will definitely be back.

Staying in Mayfair

Neighborhood Profile
Mayfair
Set beside some of London's best parks and home to world-class galleries, luxurious hotels, and famed thoroughfares, the ultra upscale Mayfair is one of London's most exclusive haunts. Here the shopping is haute, the dining is exquisite, and the nightlife is vibrant. A casual stroll through the area’s chic streets will reveal that Michelin stars and chauffeured cars are practically the norm here. Even if you're on a tight budget, this exceptionally well connected swath of Central London is worth exploring, if only for the chance to take a peak at the goings on of upper crust English society.
