Michelin-starred Tamarind presents an elegant take on Indian cuisine from its gilded dining room in chic Mayfair. The inventive menu is rooted in traditional Moghul cooking, with fish, meat and game dishes brought forth from the Tandoor oven in an authentic north-west Indian fashion. Muted tones and attentive service make the restaurant a smart yet convivial destination.

Beautiful food.

Visited the tamarind on 2/7 for dinner. First time. Lovely food, very delicate flavours. Although the restaurant was busy we were never rushed. Good experience. Price of wine can be a tad expensive.

Went here for a special birthday. We all love good food and we have dined at many restaurants before. Unfortunately, Tamarind was a bit of a let down. Amongst other things, we ordered the vegetable kofta, prawns and chicken for the main meals. Whilst the description of them were all very different on the menu, the sauces were nearly identical,... From the charming hostess who got us a nice table even though there had been a mix up with our reservation to the sommelier who recommended a champagne we shall now order for our house to our waiter who advised us perfectly we had a perfect dining experience. This is a beautiful restaurant with a cuisine to remember. It is... More

On the evening of 03/07 we visited the Tamarind for the first time with a table for 7 to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary. The service was exceptional, from our first greeting at the entrance to the time we left. Our waiter suggested to us the perfect balance of menu choices to suit all tastes as we shared mains and... We went to tamarind recently on a Monday lunchtime for my husbands birthday. The restaurant is very elegant, yet friendly - even though there wasn't many people there we didn't feel awkward at all. We had the tasting menu - at the time of writing £125 with matching wines. One word - WOW! Each course was delicious, slowly building up... More

Enjoyed our midwek lunch with colleagues, the food was very flavourful and not heavy. Bit on the expensive side though....

Business group for dinners - 3 x guests The food and service were both very good. Discussions with the Sommelier guided us to two very good wine options. We opted for a set menu (Shahi Dawat)...£72.00 per head and supplemented with a few other dishes. All was good, but to be honest I have similar (certainly not worse) out of... More

A really great dining experience. The staff are very attentive and the decor makes it feel special. There isnt loads of veggie choices but the saag panner was really tasty and the cheesy naans are fantastic. Nice for a special occassion

Staying in Mayfair

Neighborhood Profile
Mayfair
Set beside some of London's best parks and home to world-class galleries, luxurious hotels, and famed thoroughfares, the ultra upscale Mayfair is one of London's most exclusive haunts. Here the shopping is haute, the dining is exquisite, and the nightlife is vibrant. A casual stroll through the area’s chic streets will reveal that Michelin stars and chauffeured cars are practically the norm here. Even if you're on a tight budget, this exceptionally well connected swath of Central London is worth exploring, if only for the chance to take a peak at the goings on of upper crust English society.
