Heard about Simpsons on the Stand but never visited before, so thought I had to go. We went for an late afternoon Sunday Lunch and I must say it was everything I expected and more. The staff were so accommodating and not her was too much to ask for. The beef was superb and carved at the table, just how... More

This is our second time of visiting Simpsons. Once again the service is impeccable. The food outstanding. The lamb, carved at the table was beautiful. As this was a birthday celebration, I had informed the restaurant before hand and they brought a pudding with a candle and the pianist played happy birthday. A thoughtful touch. The only slight downside is... More

I took my friend here as a treat as I'd seen it on a cookery programme and had always wanted to try it. The interior is stunning and has retained its classic Britishness! It is next door to The Savoy after all! All original features with a huge, open restaurant with an assembly room feel. We went upstairs first for... More

I first went to Simpson's about 25 years ago and since then have been about 4 or 5 times- the food hasnt changed, quality British Food - Dover Sole, Beef Wellington, Carvery etc, good service and although expensive probably worth it, HOWEVER when i went there last night with my wife before a show i was shocked and disappointed that... Having been seduced by the legend, we went for dinner and ordered the roast beef, I am really sorry but that was school dinner standard, the beef although rare was raggy and tough, and tasteless. The Yorkshire pudding would have made a good car tyre, the roast potatoes were limp and pallid, however the cabbage still had a modicum of... More

We probably would never have gone there except for the voucher offer but we will definitely go back. The food was excellent with touches like carving the meat at the table and filling the plate, refilling water jugs automatically, offering extra bread, leaving the coffee pot on the table all contributing to a fantastic meal. Cannot fault food or service... More

Simpsons are truly an important part of London history. Maybe not as hot as before, but who cares. The trolley with roasted rib and the signature lobster soup will never be wrong. The tender meat are amazingly good. The soup for an entrée are spicy and something you want to come back to. The service are of course like it... More

Whether you have never eaten at Simpsons in The Strand or eaten there years ago, it is worth a visit during your stay in London. Make it an occasion and enter the beautiful old dining room ready to enjoy a classic London experience. The paneled dining room is lovely with its old booths for chess players, the waiters are attentive... More

I have not been to Simpsons for about 20 years and find only the diners changed really with more tourists than before - hardly surprising! I like my beef well done to charred and this is one of the few places you can go to to get the choice. My friends prefer rare to medium and all are catered for.... More

Staying in Trafalgar Square / Embankment

Neighborhood Profile
Trafalgar Square / Embankment
With its iconic Nelson’s Column, majestic oversized lions and brightly-lit fountains, Trafalgar Square is not just considered the heart of this bustling London hub, but the very core of the city itself. Beyond this esteemed gathering place are more famous icons, as well as a disproportionate numbers of the city’s most popular cultural attractions including the National Gallery and many West End theaters. Along the way to these major sites are quiet lanes and antiquated pubs to discover, as well as riverside vistas to enjoy on the embankment. With a calendar full of celebratory events, any time of year is a fine time to visit.
