Wonderful

Fabulous French food and an extensive Loire valley wine list. It's just a few moments from Waterloo but feels like a world away. Small upstairs dining room, worth booking ahead if you want to be sure of getting a table, although we turned up on a Saturday night and they had space. Some lovely... read more

It's all about the food at RSJ, service is friendly as well but you can't help sit there and dream what you would do if the restaurant was yours. Dim the lights, music, get rid of the tablecloths and have better tables & chairs. Still as I said it's all about the food which was perfect and very reasonably priced.

We were a group meeting up for the first time in several months. Upstairs the accommodation is fine albeit a little cramped, but this is London. Good menu and comprehensive though somewhat expensive wine list. All set for an excellent evening with some very good cooking. Ambiance and service were good to start with, but then a group in the... let me start on the positive side and say that the dishes we all ordered were good. But at a restaurant of this advertised quality I would expect a decent serviette not a flimsy paper one. And the wine list over so many pages is pretentious, probably ok for a sommelier trained diner, but for most of the customers a... More

The restaurant serves very good food and their set menus are extremely good value at less than £20 for 3 courses. There is a very nice wine list of Loire wines by the glass and naturally even more choice in the full wine list. They always ask if you have theatre tickets so they can ensure rapid service if necessary.... More

Had an early dinner here with friends, service efficient, attentive and friendly, food very good, tasty, well presented and more than enough; the ambiance is slightly noisy if large numbers share a table but not too obtrusive. Would go again.

I have been going to RSJ for some 20 years and it has never failed to please. My most recent visit was the occasion of my daughter's birthday. We were about 16 and had the small room which was ideal for debate and conversation. From the moment we arrived, our waiter looked after us and made a great contribution to... More

An excellent smallish restaurant handy for the South Bank and Waterloo Station. Old School ..and none the worse for that. Great food, attentive service, very extensive wine list focussing on the Loire. We will return.

We had such a lovely dining experience at this small and friendly restaurant. The presentation, service and food were faultless and represented excellent value for money considering the location. Definitely would recommend and return for seconds!

I booked a table a few weeks in advance as my wife and I were attending a concert at Festival Hall on a Saturday evening. Tim suggested I move time earlier to 5:45, so I took his advice - and things worked out well as we finished a relaxed meal in time to walk to theatre and have a drink... More
