Tucked away behind the National Gallery, this restaurant ticks all the boxes: really good value fixed menu, superb a la carte and a wine list (with very knowledgeable people behind it) which is pure heaven for anyone who enjoys Loire wines. Highly recommended.

I reviewed RSJ after a trip to London 18 months ago. After returning there this summer, I want to reiterate my praise. My husband have eaten at lots and lots of restaurants--many cuisines, all prices, etc. RSJ is close to perfection in the niche it has carved out for itself. Without being pretentious at all, there is a lovely traditional... More

We wanted somewhere near to the Royal Festival Hall for a pre-concert meal for a party of ten and RSJ was recommended to us. Encouraged by the reviews on Tripadvisor, we booked in advance for 5.30 pm on 28th June and let it be known that we needed to be away by 7.10, in order to meet the prompt 7.30... More

We went on 21 June after the Silver Tassie at the National, we arrived late, by English standards, although early by Spanish, at 10pm. We had a very good meal and an excellent wine. We were upstairs on our own, but waiting was attentive. We were the last to leave at 11.40. Nice finish to our evening. The potted shrimp... More

Two of us went for an early evening meal. We didn't want the buzzing crowd or tourist food that swamps this part of London now. It is quirky, like something from the seventies, but with food for today's palate. The 3 course fixed price limited menu was simply excellent. We drank only the house white ( 2 bottles eventually) but... More

It's good to see that RSJs has remained a fabulous place over for many years. We celebrated our wedding at RSJs in 1984 and returned for our 30th anniversary dinner this year (of course we've also been in the interim!). The food is beautifully prepared, the wine list fantastic and the welcome is warm and convivial. This is a really... More

Have been a few times both withfriends and for a romantic dinner. I enjoyed the food, it's a really high standard but the wine list is the reason I've been back so many times. Mostly from the Loire. The list is well priced ( especially for london standards ) and has mature bottles that you wouldn't find anywhere else.

We discovered RSJ the week it opened many years ago whilst parking the car on a visit to the National Theatre. We thought the food good then but have not been there for some years after moving from London. We returned for dinner to find the food remains excellent and, judging by the fixed price menu, even better value. We... More

Went in for a late lunch. Quiet time of day with great service, excellent food and delicious wine.. Starters of Goats Cheese were melt in the mouth. Main courses were a ravioli that was one of the best ever tasted and lamb cooked absolutely to a T, just as I wanted it. No room for desert and only had a... More

A relatively small restaurant in an inconspicuous location in the Southbank. We recently dined there several times while staying in the area and each time was very happy. The menu had very good options and the food was fresh and well prepared. Very good value and service. Highly recommended.
