Dont't Waste Your Money

Visited the pub last night, it did have a very nice atmosphere, however, then service was terrible. There was a 45 minute wait for the food. I ordered the Camembert in bite size pieces cooked in a crispy batter, instead I got a whole camembert and a plate full of french bread. When I mentioned... read more

The Prospect has been around since 1520... when Henry VIII was on the throne! It is Wapping's older pub. The new one opened in 1540! The food is good, there is a good selection of lagers and ales as well as wine and liquor. The food is typical pub fare but with some interesting offerings that take it above the... More

Don't eat at this historic pub. Order was wrong, late and food was just very bland and cold. Returned it and second serving no better. What a shame it used to be fab. And massively overpriced!

We came here for Sunday lunch. The historic building is full of character and there was a nice atmosphere. The day we visited it was busy but not packed and we were served quickly. The menu had a decent amount of choice. We both opted for pie and chips which was tasty and good value. If you are looking for... More

It has been Number 1 ever since I started my "best pubs in London Top 20" list! It is holding that esteemed position due to that splendid combination of great beer, lovely pub grub, historical significance, out-of-the-way location, and Thames views; plus the hangman's noose! I will always return to the Prospect! You must put it on your pub crawl!

This is londons oldest riverside pub. It has excellent views of canary wharf and during low tide, access to the thames and a pebble beach. In the summer it does get very busy especially the outdoor seating area. I ate the cod and chips and was suprised at how big the fish was!! Good job I didn't go for the... More

Whatever time of year, this is undoubtedly the best pub east of St Katharine's Dock. Great by the river, brilliant food and superb staff.

The prospect never fails to let you down; it has such a great view in an unusual part of London which you will need to search out.

Excellent place for a bit of atmosphere and history - overlook the Thames at the back: great views of Canary Wharf and the docks. Look out for the hangman's noose! Seemingly seeped with history and a good selection of drinks and reasonalby priced pub food. Staff friendly and helpful. A fantastic spot for lunch or dinner!

Not easy to get to as it's tucked away on the river in darkest Wapping, this building is steeped in history but still looking pretty good for it's age. Inside there's lots of worn, dark wood, quirky staircases, hidden corners, uneven floors and mismatched furniture. As a pub, there's oodles of homely atmosphere and it has the feel of a... More
