Exceptional service admist the madness

We stopped by for pre theatre dinner and also in the hope of beating the crowds as they operate on a walk in basis. Even arriving at 6pm on a week day this place was crazy busy. If you like a fairly informal atmosphere, with a great buzz, close seating in a cosy atmosphere, where the volume just goes up with the happy customers, this is a great place for lunch or dinner. I have eaten here many times now on my trips to London sharing with friends and colleagues and none has been disappointed! the Venetia... More

I'd heard great things about Polpo and whilst it was good, don't know if it's worth all the hype. Will definitely go again for a final verdict! SERVICE No table bookings for parties under 6. We were going to an event at 8pm so were lucky to get a table where we needed to eat fast and quickly. The staff... More

I have been twice to this restaurant and have very mixed feelings. Whilst the atmosphere is inviting and service is excellent, the food is very average! However the fact I have come back shows the allure of the tasty house red is too hard to resist. You know you are going to have a good time with friends at this... More

I have been to the one in Covent Garden and Notting hill. Amazing cicheti (italian venetian tapas). Good spritz!! Feels like being at aperitivo time in Italy.

What is not to like? A buzzy room with interesting crowd, a to- the-point menu (on your placemat) that features really well done italian tapas with a handful of interesting specials, a clever room design that manages to make something intimate and bohemian out of something that could well be cramped and corporate... Bingo, this restaurant delivers a very satisfying... More

We were a party of 4 dining at Polpo Farringdon last night. 2 of our party have specific dietary requirements (no dairy, gluten and and we had heard that Polpo were fairly good so we thought we would give it a go. Our waitress, Adele, was so helpful and accommodating, went through the menu one by one with us, listed... More

Great ambience at this comfortable restaurant's Notting Hill location. The menu is simple but inventive. I enjoyed the inventive spin on classic Mediterranean dishes. The wine list was full of great Italian varietals and the dessert menu offered some great options. The Salt Cod Croquettes stood out as a great appetizer and the Flourless Almond and Lemon cake was mouth-wateringly... More

Food was hardly seasoned - for ex, our market greens were some market vegetables just steamed and thrown onto a plate! The courgette salad w/rocket had hardly any seasoning - not enough parmesan, pepper, lemon etc. Just bland. I could have thrown together that salad at home! Meatballs were also nothing to write home about. The only yummy dish was... More

We really like the Polpo cook book and so were looking forward to eating at their restaurant. We made a reservation for a Saturday lunch. Upon arrival we were guided to the basement, and placed in the far corner where the candle light was not sufficient to read the menu. I literally had to go to another place to read... More

Staying in Soho

Neighborhood Profile
Soho
The go-to district for a good time in London, Soho hosts a wealth of world-class theatres and a compelling lineup of cafes, restaurants, pubs, bars, and clubs. At Soho's core is London's original Red Light District and the epicenter of the LGBT scene – and thus the city's hottest nightlife. For shopping enthusiasts, Soho is not only the home of London's greatest concentration of boutique shops, but also the most strategic place to set off on a tour of the world's most celebrated department stores. In the southern part of the neighborhood lies Chinatown, with its multitude of delicious and affordable restaurants. Closer to the Thames, Chinatown's narrow and teeming lantern-lit lanes spill onto the expansive hub of glitzy Leicester Square.
