The first UK restaurant to be awarded one, two, and then three Michelin stars, Le Gavroche remains a class apart. Since opening in 1967, this Mayfair bastion of French cuisine has been very much a family affair, and chef-patron Michel Roux Jr continues the tradition today. The elegance of the menu and the ambience is impeccably tailored, while the discreet service has won its own plaudits.

Booked for anniversary celebration and we were so looking forward to it. Warmly welcomed and shown to our table immediately. Restaurant lovely, paintings of Roux family on the walls, lovely staff, warm, helpful and friendly. We decided on the Menu Exceptionnel which is 8 courses starting with the famous cheese souffle in cream which was so light it disolved in... More

My recent visit to Le Gavroche was as always, superb. The food was beautifully presented and flavoursome. If you are not a regular visitor, I would recommend the tasting menu. The staff are trained to the highest level, making you very feel special. Although the restaurant is set in a basement, this does not effect the romantic ambience of this... More

this was our second visit and a treat for our daughter's 24th birthday. The service is still outstanding and the food still looks, smells and tastes superb. It was great that Michel Roux jr came out and spoke to everyone and my daughter was pleased to get a selfie with him. A great surprise that our dessert had a birthday... More

We don't get to two Michelin star restaurants often (we live in Dundee - enough said) but we really enjoyed this. Food, service and ambiance great. And if you don't think so, the perhaps you aren't appreciating what those around have to offer. If you get a chance, then go.

This was a real feel of France, in fact you felt as if you were in France. We had a lunch voucher given as a present so had no idea how much it was, when we got there we were amazed at the value of the business lunch £56 for 3 courses, wine ,water coffee- superb value. The food was... More

I'm going to keep this short and sweet, I'm surprised Le Gavroche has been rated 4.5 stars! It should be 5! Fantastic food, service and atmosphere. Michele himself came out to speak to us to ask how our evening was which really topped it for me. 10/10. Highly recommend!

We had booked a table for Saturday night 3 months ago. We were only able to get in at 6pm but it was worth the wait! We had the tasting menu with the paired wines and it has got to be the best meal I have ever had! Service was outstanding and I can not fault anything! If you have... More

The food was excellent but a particular highlight was the wine pairing, which I thought was very strong. Often some wines don’t ‘go’ with their partners, but this was spot on. My second-best highlight was the staff, who were extremely friendly and polite. They have clearly been chosen and trained very well. We had the taster menu with the wine... More

Everything about this eatery shouts class. The menu, food, wine matching & service all superb.Very busy all evening, creating ambiance, though privacy not invaded. Worthy of its two Michelin stars, and worth every penny spent.

Staying in Mayfair

Neighborhood Profile
Mayfair
Set beside some of London's best parks and home to world-class galleries, luxurious hotels, and famed thoroughfares, the ultra upscale Mayfair is one of London's most exclusive haunts. Here the shopping is haute, the dining is exquisite, and the nightlife is vibrant. A casual stroll through the area’s chic streets will reveal that Michelin stars and chauffeured cars are practically the norm here. Even if you're on a tight budget, this exceptionally well connected swath of Central London is worth exploring, if only for the chance to take a peak at the goings on of upper crust English society.
