We booked a table for seven at Le Colombier and we're really hoping for a pleasant night with our friends from London and California. Service was efficient but with little charm although the dining room is very pretty. Some of our party were lucky and enjoyed delicous meals , the Scallops for instance were beautifully cooked , the filet steak... More

A truly memorable meal here one evening and cannot wait to go back. A lot of our fellow diners were French speakers, so if the French eat here that's a good sign. What with sounds of the French language, a few dogs lying quietly under tables, the atmosphere, the superb food and the excellent service, we felt that we could... More

Shhhh Don't shout about it. Even in the middle of summer it's full of locaL residents enjoying this very good restaurant. The service is attentive without obsequiousness. It shows when a restaurant has trained staff rather than out of work actors. My pate, veal chop, chocolate mouse were just as they should be. Portions are generous. I shall go again... More

Staff were very welcoming and attentive. It was clear that they were a very efficient and professional team. Nice menu with a lovely range of dishes. I had the warm goats cheese salad. The cheese was beautiful, however the menu did not state that it had hollandaise sauce or something similar on it. - I can take it or leave... More

Have dined here many times, and the food is always consistently good. Great service, and a nice choice of wines to suit most. Not cheap, but worth every penny. Fillet steak on my last visit was cooked to perfection.

Le Colombier (suitably named the Dovecot) is a very French brasserie restaurant tucked away behind the Royal Marsden and Royal Brompton Hospitals. It seems to be very popular and booking is essential. All the staff are French and will speak good English if they must! Their Oeufs Pochés en Meurette were perfect (£9.30) as was the Steak Tartare (£11.90 as... More

We decided on a trip to Chelsea after we saw a recommendation for this place from a distinguished chef (Pierre Koffman) in a foodie magazine. We were not disappointed. When we arrived we were greeted warmly and given a decent table in the main dining room. There is also an outside covered terrace which looked pleasant even in the London... More

Le Colombier is a proper french restaurant in the heart of Chelsea. On the Saturday of the Easter long weekend it was pleasantly full and had a jolly ambience, with a mix of large tables, couples and smaller groups. The menu - like the decor - is classic Frencb bistro. A large steaming bowl of fish soup (with all the... More

Staying in Chelsea

Neighborhood Profile
Chelsea
Wealth courses through The King's Road, Chelsea's upmarket artery of West London life packed with shops, eateries and glitzy nightspots. For people-watching at its best and luxury retail therapy that's largely unrivalled, this area cannot be missed. But if this showy street starts to overwhelm or a moment of price tag shock sends you reeling, a quick detour down pretty much any of many King's Road veins will reveal a quieter side of Chelsea. Here the stately Royal Hospital hosts its world-famous flower show, and the Thames rolls along at a lazy pace, with leafy Battersea Park and its Peace Pagoda beckoning from across the river.
