A jolly place to spend an evening

Le Colombier is a proper french restaurant in the heart of Chelsea. On the Saturday of the Easter long weekend it was pleasantly full and had a jolly ambience, with a mix of large tables, couples and smaller groups. All the reviews about it being very French, serving excellent food and delivering great service are true. I often have the crab. It's great value and rare to find a big crab in the shell these days. I highly recommend it.

I agree with the many reviews, this is an excellent restaurant. It is tucked away being a 10-12 min walk from South Kensington station. The two course lunch menu at £20 is good value. What I particularly like about the place, is that it isn't pretentious.

Very up market restaurant. Silver service, discreet service, excellent food and wine. There is nothing sub-standard about this pkace! I can't afford to eat here often but it is worth it once in a while!

Lovely French restaurant in heart of Chelsea (quiet road between Kings Road and Fulham Road) – feels like you’re in a restaurant in a neighbourhood of Paris – but instead of French people you’ve got posh Sloaney locals. We choose this restaurant for my birthday lunch on Saturday (for 13 people) as I had a lovely dinner there in the... More

This was a celebration lunch, so we returned to one of our favourite places in London with an authentic French feel, excellent attentive staff and always reliable food. After an absence of 3 years, we were amused that the clientele is unchanged - this is still the place for the elegant, older set. We enjoyed delicious, light Crab Salad with... More

This is my favourite London restaurant, but I don't want everyone going there! It is very French and lots of locals and regulars. Staff, delightful and food excellent.

I was invited as a guest to this charming restaurant. As I have eaten a few times at its sister restaurant, Garnier, in the Earls Court Road I was looking forward to it - and was not disappointed. It is a restaurant just like I remember from the 5 years we lived in Paris. We settled in with a dish... More

It's been a while since my last visit, but apart from a few staff not seen before, everything is unchanged: Le Colombier is still warm, cosy and welcoming. I went for my favourite order: steak tartare, frites and green salad. Impeccable, flavoursome and comforting!

Staying in Chelsea

Neighborhood Profile
Chelsea
Wealth courses through The King's Road, Chelsea's upmarket artery of West London life packed with shops, eateries and glitzy nightspots. For people-watching at its best and luxury retail therapy that's largely unrivalled, this area cannot be missed. But if this showy street starts to overwhelm or a moment of price tag shock sends you reeling, a quick detour down pretty much any of many King's Road veins will reveal a quieter side of Chelsea. Here the stately Royal Hospital hosts its world-famous flower show, and the Thames rolls along at a lazy pace, with leafy Battersea Park and its Peace Pagoda beckoning from across the river.
