Description: This Green Park institution was a hit when it first opened its doors in...
This Green Park institution was a hit when it first opened its doors in 1947 and since then it has remained a favourite amongst Londons dining elite. The interior is similarly timeless, with a warm neutral colour scheme, monochrome photographs, and a popular bar that runs the length of the restaurant to ensure that solo diners or last-minute latecomers have somewhere to perch. Like its sister restaurant, The Ivy, its ideal for business lunches, romantic liaisons and special occasions alike. The menu showcases modern European favourites, presented with flair but without fuss, and includes classic dishes like Salmon fishcake with buttered spinach sorrel sauce; Bannockburn rib steak with Barnaise sauce; and dressed Dorset crab. An extensive wine list and flawless service completes the picture and makes for a truly unforgettable experience.

PREDICTABLE - IF THAT'S WHAT YOU WANT

Le Caprice has been going for yonks. Predictability is the order of the day. Nothing to spook the horse, you understand. On the Sunday brunch we attended, the menu contained everything you'd expect. Had lunch for two. Booked table at12:15 and was told we had to leave by 13:30. As it happenened we left at 14:30 having had an excellent lunch in a very timely fashion. I find it hard to believe we could have enjoyed the lunch if we had to leave an hour earlier! This is my only very minor criticism... More

Food Staff and Atmosphere superb. Very reasonable prices for such a classy venue. Nice background music from the house pianist. David Bailey photo portraits on all the walls and a few celebs if you like to people watch. Really recommended for nice relaxed dinner, very well looked after without being to pretentious

It is two years since we were able to visit Le Caprice, but were welcomed back as though it was two weeks. It is still a wonderful restaurant, with great food, great service and great atmosphere. It will never win Michelin stars, because that is not what it is about, but it is still one of the very best restaurants... More

I have to say that walking in to this handsome space and seeing a piano player, a long bar and attractively dressed patrons, I was prepared for a big bill and something that might be "over the top" that did not represent good value. I could not have been more wrong! We received gracious service, were able to order from... More

For an established central London restaurant, Le Caprice doesn't trade off it's name which so many seem to these days. Quality of food and service is very good whilst being relatively good value. There are better venues for a "treat" but definitely worth a visit.

We wanted to find somewhere fun and buzzy to spend our 35th Wedding Anniversary with our children. Le Caprice filled the bill admirably. It has tones of the 1930s about it. Very popular with American visitors to London but we are English and enjoyed it too. Comfort food rather than a modern culinary adventure but that was a welcome aspect.... More

With the Ivy out of action until May been looking around different restaurants as a fill in. This is no fill ... it has its own special atmosphere and is equally unique. Went for their theatre evening menu (post 10.15 pm) after a long flight into London and was wowed by the place. From the very welcoming and chatty maitre... More

Four of us had a semi business dinner at the restaurant last night. I had not been there since the remodel a few years prior. Drinks at the bar before dinner---my American style martini was served perfectly. My friend had the octopus to start and loved it. My wife loved the risotto (really loved it) as only a foodie from... Neighborhood Profile
St. James's
Perennially fashionable since the days of Henry VIII, the aristocratic “Clubland” of St James's is a premier destination for high end craft and bespoke design. Here you’ll lose count of the Royal Warrants (which indicate that the Royal Family patronizes the establishment) seen in shop front windows, even during a short stroll to bordering Green Park or St James’s Park. With the brightly lit and constantly buzzing junction of Piccadilly Circus at its northeast corner and none of Central London too far away, this is an surprisingly central and accessible part of town, especially given its prosperous demeanor.
