Very cosy, great food, but extras can bite you back!

Great location and service, offering a tempting menu of delicious food with not unreasonable prices. BUT, when you add the cover charges, unrealistic mark up on bottled water and wine (£15 for a small glass of the only rose on offer) and a 12.5% service charge, it can become quite pricey. We were joining family and friends who are English and suggested this restaurant for our one evening in London. We had previously been to the Ivy and they had heard that this restaurant was of a similar caliber. Although the food was as good as we expected the service was average and the ambiance was less than average. The tables... More

This was our first visit here- and it was delightful. The menu choices were perfect for us- plenty of fish as well as meat and everything cooked beautifully. The food isn't overly fussy, just very good ingredients and well cooked. The chargrilled squid was great as was my sea bass. The peanut butter ice-cream was not to be resisted and... More

I visited London to attend an Audrey Hepburn exhibition at the Royal Portrait Gallery which was in conjunction with a lunch at one of her favourite restaurants....Le Caprice. I wasn't disappointed. Although on my own I was suitably welcomed by Nelio and his team and was wonderfully looked after and waited on....The food was sumptuous and beautifully served accompanying some... More

Had the occasion to visit for the first time with clients recently and although the food and wine were as good as one would expect, I did find the rather snooty service a tad formulaic and obvious. Why do restaurants of this nature feel the need to present themselves as though you are interrupting the staff by ordering food and... More

Went for dinner Saturday night with friends although the food was up to the usual standard I was a bit surprised and, yes shocked that Le caprice allow people in for dinner on a Saturday night with tshirts, shorts and flip flops. Come on caprice, if you have a dress code of smart casual, stick to it! Tshirts and shorts... More

Le Caprice has been doing business in this charming location for years. The staff, food & ambience are wonderful. Memorable. Last time there chatted with a baronet & discovered a wonderful Viognier. What else do you need?

Sunday night started quietly until we ate at this restaurant. Good tasty dishes with a touch of Italian. With a trio of piano, bass and sax to entertain us during our meal the night became a great night out., Good selection on the menu, reasonable selection of wines and good service. The only thing I did not like was them... More

One of my favourite restaurants in London. The food, service and live music make it truely relaxing.

Another of my Sons and Mine favorite regular Saturday lunch venues, the food, service and wine are beyond reproach, try to go on a Saturday lunch time when the Jazz is on, its like stepping back in time, any moment you expect Mick Jagger to stroll in. PS They have most probably the best Art Deco Loos in England

Staying in St. James's

Neighborhood Profile
St. James's
Perennially fashionable since the days of Henry VIII, the aristocratic “Clubland” of St James's is a premier destination for high end craft and bespoke design. Here you’ll lose count of the Royal Warrants (which indicate that the Royal Family patronizes the establishment) seen in shop front windows, even during a short stroll to bordering Green Park or St James’s Park. With the brightly lit and constantly buzzing junction of Piccadilly Circus at its northeast corner and none of Central London too far away, this is an surprisingly central and accessible part of town, especially given its prosperous demeanor.
