Slow service, but decent food

As the birthday celebrations for our son were impacted by the ATC problems we were fortunate to get a late booking for Laughing Gravy. The venue itself is quite small leading to a feeling of intimacy. After a short wait the waitress took our order. Sadly this short wait was a constant feature of... read more

Myself and 29 colleagues ate at the Laughing Gravy in December for our Christmas do - the food was delicious and the service was fantastic. The whole booking process was very smooth especially given that we made a number of changes along the way. I would highly recommend

My sister and I went here on a Friday night as we both remembered how good it was last time we went. Luckily we had reserved a table as the place was heaving. We both had the scallop and crayfish scotch egg to start with. It was so yummy, the only thing (it's a personal thing) I just wish that... More

The Laughing Gravy is warm, friendly and inviting. The staff are excellent and there is a relaxed atmosphere whether it is full or empty (we had a very early pre-theatre meal). The food is very good with a good choice of fish and veg as well as meat. I was slightly disappointed with the heritage beetroot, which had a predominate... More

A large group of us visited this restaurant for our works Christmas party. We started the evening with a cocktail before being served a delicious 3 course meal. The wine flowed, the staff were attentive without being over zealous. The atmosphere was perfect allowing us to enjoy good conversation around the table. We will be back!

Way off the beaten track in Blackfriars Road the Laughing Gravy is a wonderful restaurant that draws you back over again. Simple stripped back décor with a modern lighting twist, the atmosphere is happy and friendly. We ate early on a Tuesday evening and by 19:00 the place was pretty much full. Some pre-theatre (The Old and Young Vics are... More

Apparently this place is really great - if of course you can get booked in to start with!! I used it to book a table for only 2 of us on Wed 10th Dec. Luckily the system is decent enough to need contact numbers - so the staff could ring me to tell me that in fact the place was... More

Situation on an uninspiring part of Blackfriars's Road this was a welcoming find on a wet and dank Sunday lunchtime. Both starters were very tasty and good quality. The presentation was excellent. My main course was the Sunday roast beef with all the trimmings. Again the presentation was impressive as was the quality of the food. My only reservation was... More

The LG is a lovely establishment located in a quiet area , better for us as if it was located in a more lively area , I am sure that it would have been fully booked. I had the smoked salmon starter which was very good and the presentation was worthy of a top michelin restaurant. I then had the... More
