Description: Originally a small oyster bar, J Sheekey preserves an unstuffy and intimate air which has made it a West End favourite for over 100 years. Cosy up in a dark corner in one of this fish restaurant's wood-panelled interconnecting rooms and try not to gawp at the high-profile clientele. The seafood is fresh and delivered with flair, and there's an imaginative vegetarian menu, plus a few meat dishes for non-fish lovers. An unrivalled destination for London theatre-goers. J Sheekey's illustrious 100-year heritage is enhanced by the Oyster Bar just next door, an informal extension of this great London institution. Set around a horseshoe-shaped central dining bar, its wood-panelled walls are lined with photographs of 21st-century theatrical luminaries from John Hurt to Orlando Bloom. The finest seafood includes fresh oysters from West Mersea Island, Cornwall, Northern Ireland and south-west France, along with Shetland mussels and Dublin Bay prawns or caviar and crab. These are enjoyed with an excellent list of Champagnes and sparkling wines by a theatrical and foodie clientele. All fish is responsibly caught from sustainable sources.

My wife and I were wandering around London and came across this wonderful restaurant. The inside is beautifully classic with a theatrical edge but we sat outside, just can't believe what a mild winter..so far! The charming waiter explained that the portions were quite small, but were delicious. Both of these comments were proven absolutely true. The octopus was outstanding,... More

Had a great evening here. The atmosphere and service was great, opt for a bar table if it's two of you I think its a lot more fun, you can see your food getting made too. The oysters were fantastic, tge scallops and the marinated Salmon was delicious. The ceviche was good but not as great as Lima or Pachamama... More

We arrived for lunch about 12:30 and it was so busy at the entrance that we had to stand outside for 5 minutes. A good sign we hoped! The service was good but not great. The food was good but not great. Everything felt good but not great. Maybe we had been spoilt the day before by going to Scott's... More

The online booking system showed the oyster bar was fully booked. However it was still availability when I called up. Maybe they do that because it's December. Food and wine was excellent as always. Service was good although staff should check the carafes to ensure there is no wine left. Our carafe was not on/beside our table and to ask... More

I had a lovely pre-ballet lunch at J Sheekeys today. The service from waiting staff and management was superb and the food, as always, delicious. The restaurant was busy, normal for this very popular restaurant but you are never rushed and your service is not slow either. I had seen when I sat down that they sold cookery books so... More

This was our third time holding a large dinner at J. Sheekey. The staff was very accommodating. We had two tables and the staff cheerfully assisted in a little musical diners half way through the meal.

J. Sheekey's location near Leicester Square makes it a good choice for pre-theatre dining. We tried to go there several years ago before a show, but since it was fully booked we had to settle for the oyster bar instead ... itself quite good. This time we planned far enough ahead and booked the restaurant in time. The food is... More

As we are both lobster and oyster lovers, and as a birthday treat, I decided to treat the Missus to a slap up at Sheeky's, the West End's renowned seafood restaurant. The Pateau de Fruits de Mer (with Lobster) was, at £103 for two, rather pricey but absolutely delicious - and hugely filling. You might be able to squeeze a... More
