Description: Local favourite Geales is an old-fashioned fish and chip restaurant which has been frying up its simple, delicious seafood dishes for over 68 years. The subdued décor adds a hint of Notting Hill glamour to this otherwise straightforward restaurant, but it's the fish that everyone has come for. Specials come fresh from Devon and Cornwall, and there are plenty of favourites such as dressed crab, salmon and leek fishcakes and oysters straight from the bar.

Walking along Notting Hill Gate looking for something more than a sandwich we spotted the pavement tables and decided to lunch here. Service was prompt and friendly. We both had salads. I had avocado and crispy bacon which was delicious and just the right amount of dressing. A little pricy compared with other places, but the food was excellent. Service... More

We went with friends from Boston having not been able to make a reservation at other restaurants in the neighbourhood, and ended up not being surprised it was half empty. We were looking forward to a some good fish (to show off to friends from Boston) but from disappointing menu only the fish and chips appealed - and they were... More

I had the Geale's famous battered fish and chips four years ago and again two days ago. It is still the best batter-fried fish I've ever had anywhere. I've ordered fish and chips at numerous other restaurants trying to replicate the experience and haven't been able to. The batter is crisp, and the fish flakes on your fork and melts... More

Had a great experience here. Friendly service, good fresh food. Had the special squid dish which was amazing. Would recommend it to all as a treat.

The service is quite poor. The food it's ok, but nothing special... The restaurant design is boring and look a bit dirty. In the end I won't suggest this place to anyone.

We've been in London for a week and enjoyed some stunning dining experiences. Sadly, Geales was not one of them. We made a reservation and arrived a the same time as a couple who had not. They were given a window table whilst we were bustled into a corner, next to a (very pleasant, admittedly) family group. When we registered... More

We de-toured to Notting-hill during our trip in London and stumbled upon this restaurant. It's charming patio persuaded my boyfriend and I to give it a chance. It all looked promising from the beginning. We received our drinks right away as well as our oysters, which were really tasty. The server was a little awkward in that she seemed quite... More

We went for dinner based on a recommendation. The decor was fine but the restaurant was hot and smelled of cooking fat. The windows do not open and the aircon was poor. The fish and chip meals do not taste as good as they look. The large batter exterior hides a small piece of fish. The lobster spaghetti was served... More

We didn't stray from the fish and chips and we were not disappointed at all! Great service (our family of four showed up for lunch at 11:45 when they open at 12:00, and they opened up to seat us immediately) and great fish and chips. Our rule is not to stray too far from what a place us known for,... More
