It's now well-known that the clientele fought to keep this open when it was threatened with closure for a franchise operation. An utterly unpretentious diner with Middle Eastern and Jewish-style deli, down to Formica table tops and cheap napkins. The the salt beef was lean and tender, the felafel in pitta as good as I've ever had. Not up to... More

Whilst sight seeing we called in at Gaby's for an afternoon snack. I have been here before and my second trip did not disappoint. The setting is a great cafe with interesting photos of the stars on the walls, you can stare away for hours! The salads are always fresh and they serve the best falafel in town. I had... More

Right on Charing Cross Road in the middle of the theatres sits Gaby's Deli. A friend suggested for lunch and I went being very dubious indeed. It was in the heart of Theatreland and on of the most tourist ridden parts of London. What I found when I squeezed past the queue at the counter was a great old fashioned... More

I remember a great atmosphere and delicious food. When I visited a couple of weeks ago both had gone with the previous owners. The Italian waitress was charming but that was it. The food was so so. I had the signature Saltbeef sandwich. It was OK. What really wound me up was I was charged £2.00 for a sliced gerkin.... More

I'm sad to say that my eagerly anticipated return to Gaby's was a sore disappointment last week. Their food used to be absolutely top-notch (it's been around for decades, this place, and is a great favourite with theatre-goers as a quick pitstop before curtain-up). Perhaps I tempted fate by building it up to my companion, but having tipped up just... More

I don't normally review somewhere twice but Gaby's is such a fantastic, reasonably priced, consistently great little gem, that people need to be reminded. Heavenly falafels, fantastic stuffed peppers, amazing salads, brilliant salt beef (so my carnivorous fellow diner said) and delicious latkas make this a must-visit whenever I'm in London. Can't recommend highly enough. Long live Gaby!

We visited this place on tripadvisor ratings and they are well justified, on a rainy london afternoon we really enjoyed our bowls of lentil soup with crusty bread, the salads and salt beef were very good. Just go and enjoy the hospitality of the owner and staff, which together with the excellent food made the visit very worthwhile..

As with most people that have tried Gaby's you just keep coming back. I love the place and it's all about the food. Very cramped and you need to be a contortionist to get in and out of the gents...but back to the food... Try the salt beef in what ever format you like but definitely get a side order... More

Gaby's is a London institution and we have been there many times. When it was given notice in 2012 by the landlord who wanted to redevelop the site (in the heart of London's theatre district) thousands signed a petition. Led by a number of the UK's best known actors. The salt beef is excellent in a sandwich or a platter... More

We always ask for our salt beef "sandwich" to be in a pitta bread (see photo), which we prefer to bread for this particular dish. Smear on loads of mustard and you couldn't be happier. The Latkes (potato and onion fritters) are delicious. I think, for the amount of salt beef they cram into the sandwiches, they are very good... More
