Briliant value, often overlooked restaurant nr Leicester Square for middle eastern snacks

I visited Gaby's for coffee on a Tuesday morning in peak tourist season & there was only one other person in there. We were asked by friends to stop at Gabys Deli in Charing Cross road London . We had just been to view the Audrey Hepburn photography exhibition and wanted to go and have lunch. When we arrived the waitress kindly pushed some tables together so the six of us could sit together. It was very quite with only two other... More

Wow what an atmosphere, after a busy afternoon doing the art gallery's we walked from Trafalgar Square, found Gabys, it had been a few years since we'd been. It hadn't changed a bit, full of people, theatre crowd, students, tourists all happily eating the delicious food. Salt beef, salads, Greek influence too, good place for vegetarians too. And to follow,... More

Amazingly, I've never noticed this place before. I love the sort of food at Gaby's and the price is very reasonable, given the location. Hey, it's not an expensive restaurant with a pretentious Maître-D' and overpriced, unimaginative food, it's got that authenticity that many people love. As for the criticism about the facilities - get a grip and take a... More

Often eat here when in London - very good vegetarian food. One of the waitresses is always a bit surly - I think it's become a tradition now, so if you are a surly waitress, you can get a job here. Toilets have never been a strong point at Gaby's but this time the men's was almost impossible to breathe... More

I always end up here late at night, after a show, when the staff are grumpy. Maybe they're always grumpy, but I always like the food and the chatter of fellow theatregoers.

Visited as a group of 7 yesterday. None of my party was overly happy with their meals. The salt beef was about half of the quantity we have had in the past in our pitta breads, the pickles were mean in quantity and floppy in texture. The latkes could have been hotter. I don't mind paying a bit more, but... More

Loved eating here. This tiny diner on the Charing Cross Road is a style of previous times - characterful and reasonably priced. The posters on the wall, many signed by the 'stars', show how it is a favourite with actors and actresses from the theatres nearby. I usually eat the combined plate of salads: humous, falafel, aubergine, beans, etc. Tasty... More

We had been there before but seems to have gone downhill the last few times! The last time and it's gonna be the last time was foul... We only popped in for a couple of latkes before we made our way home and they were disgusting.... First time EVER I've had them with various dried veg thrown... Never again!

Can't beat the salads. Love the place. Stumbled across Gaby's Deli and were so glad we did. Worth a visit, for the food and the fantastic history of the place. Much loved by London thespians who saved it from closure some years ago.
