Great for a meet up with friends!

We have frequented The French House many times over the last 13 years.... mainly for drinks but we have also dined a few times... A great location in Soho and always filled with characters, it is a pub with a French Flair! For example, they only serve half pints... and the focus (maybe for us... read more

On our annual visit to London, we stayed in Soho ( Dean St. Townhouse) and conveniently some 50 metres away is our favourite bar in London. The French as the locals call it. Great little bar, full of character and that includes the staff. Dwayne and Hilary were terrific, very helpful with theatre recommendations and wine selction. A great spot,... More

I called this pub and asked them to reserve some tables for me as I wanted a meeting pace for a homecoming after being abroad for two years. They said they would. When I turned up the bar staff laughed at me when I asked where my tables were. This wasn't a problem as there were a few tables free... More

Went in here for a drink and quiet lunch. Nice ambience and staff friendly, however, the food service was very poor, ordered a toastie, sandwich and the meat platter. The food took 20 minutes to arrive and when it eventually appeared, the toastie was burnt, the sandwich was that small, a mouse would have asked for more and the meat... More

Nice and cosy little place. Love the location, too. I enjoyed the atmosphere of The French House and it's a wonderful choice for having drinks with friends.

Great food & drinks prices. Very mixed crowd creating a great atmosphere. The staff here are excellent and always make you feel welcome. Lunch menu is good here, always something different to try. One of the best bars in Soho.

Nice little place that we stumbled across. Good prices and buzzy, busy atmosphere. Good place to meet up with friends.

I recently visited my daughter and her fiance in london, I suggested we meet in the French house Bar, a bar I had frequented for a number of years happily myself nearly 30 years before. The staff behind the bar were rude and inept (getting our orders wrong while exuding an attitude of supercilious condescension). Their treatment of me was... More

Quite small and with an intresting 'no mobile' policy, The French House its a very good place where you can eat well and have good wines and drinks and easily connect with new people, very friendly service and prices no expensive , quiet place.

Having a day out in London I was in Shaftesbury Avenue at lunchtime. Looking for somewhere to eat and fancying a pub lunch rather than a restaurant, I turned into Dean Street and came upon the The French House. A menu was placed near the door and it showed a small but varied selection of food, starter, cooked dishes, salad,... More

Staying in Soho

Neighborhood Profile
Soho
The go-to district for a good time in London, Soho hosts a wealth of world-class theatres and a compelling lineup of cafes, restaurants, pubs, bars, and clubs. At Soho's core is London's original Red Light District and the epicenter of the LGBT scene – and thus the city's hottest nightlife. For shopping enthusiasts, Soho is not only the home of London's greatest concentration of boutique shops, but also the most strategic place to set off on a tour of the world's most celebrated department stores. In the southern part of the neighborhood lies Chinatown, with its multitude of delicious and affordable restaurants. Closer to the Thames, Chinatown's narrow and teeming lantern-lit lanes spill onto the expansive hub of glitzy Leicester Square.
