This small french pub is really cute. With the big french flag flying outside it reminded me of the scenes from Les Mis and that really isn't a bad thing for me! The seating areas were small but cute for chatting the night away with my sister. Drinks were normal price for a London pub.

Visited The French House and thought it was great! Small pub with loads of character and had a great time chatting away. Love the no mobile phones policy, certainly encourages people to make the effort with other.

The most recent submissions say everything that needs to be said about this place ..I can't match the articulation of the some of the reviewers ..wonderfully descriptive with a history tour thrown in, marvellous. Albeit a first visit I had genned up on the house rules and how I warmed to the old fashioned values (I don't always want to... More

The food is averagely good. The wine, as you would expect, is very good. No - I am not going into any superlatives about the French House but I do say this. You must visit it when you are in Soho. I have been going there for over 50 years. I remember the great owner Gaston Berlement who retired in... More

Lovely Alsace lager (Meteor I believe) in an evocative setting! The restaurant sadly wasn't open but high quality grilled chicken with avocado sandwiches on a olive oil toasted bread with side salad in the bar was a delight!

Great bar with a great atmosphere. Good friendly service and company. Colorful characters spin tales after a few bevs. Try the Cidre Breton.

A Soho institution ... A destination drinking establishment that replenishes the soul - seriously - I couldn't imagine a more perfect way to spend an afternoon than in The French House. There is the legacy of characters associated with the rather characterful ambience, which all adds to this bar's patina. Spend time and dwell in the spirit of The French... More

Good points: Red wine is delicious, location. Bad points: Beer only served in half glasses and is expensive for a half. It gets packed and you will be squeezed. Too overly aggressive in kicking people out, especially the woman on the first floor bar who has issues.

If a party of Parisian tourists stumbled upon The French House, they might suffer an attack of uncomfortable irony. For they, donned in plus-fours, covert coats, brogues, twinsets and pearls, and looking more English than the English, would in this diminutive Soho pub come across us English, all dressed up in philosophy, artiness and eccentricity, and appearing to be somewhat... The place is ace ! Don’t go here if you are a Gucci, Prada, “look at me” lover, it’s not for you. It’s cool, a nice friendly buzz – folk come to have a drink and a chat, not to shout above the din and have the bar staff call everyone “mate!” To be honest I shouldn’t be telling you... More
