Good place for a proper taste of English food

My mum and I spent the weekend in London and we were invited by her London born and raised friend for a Sunday Lunch at the First Floor. The location of the restaurant is great as it is on the famous Portobello Road, one of the trendiest districts of London and place of a huge Afro and Caribbean... read more

Had a wonderful intimate evening here with my lovely lady wife. From the moment we sat down the experience was fantastic. Jean, looked after us and kept us well lubricated throughout the evening and was charming and attentive. He may also have slipped in a few cheeky glasses of prosecco, which didn't hurt. I share a surname with a Senegalese... More

I thought, I don't know why, that the service might be slow or bad on a busy Friday night, and the food might be average. I have been there about 10 times, and never been disappointed, but thought maybe over the years it had one "off" The place was full, the service kind caring (I am a coeliac and needed... More

Popped in here last Wednesday. To avoid the rush hour traffic we thought why not stop for a bite to eat. Absolutely FABULOUS! The menu was interesting & good value for money. The staff were polite, efficient & knowledgeable. The food was gorgeous, obviously all fresh. The restaurant is interesting, you HAVE to look up on the second floor...... All... More

Located in the portobello market this neat restaurant is worth a visit. For lunch we had the moules & frites to start that were alright unfortunately lots of crunchy mussels. For our main I had the pulled pork sandwich that was wonderful and my boyfriend had the free range chicken that was also spectacular. Fairly pricey but worth a look.

Visited on a whim without booking whilst away on a weekend break. Excellent service. Attentive staff. Food second to none. Some of the best food I have ever eaten and all at a very reasonable price. Cannot speak highly enough of this fabulous place.

Having eaten at the First Floor restaurant several times over the years, I decided to host a private party there with friends. From the outset I could tell it was going to be a great evening, with Jean showing a real interest in what I wanted, making sure that the menu accomodated a range of dietary requirements and was complimented... Staying in Notting Hill

Neighborhood Profile
Notting Hill
As West London's friskiest corner, Notting Hill more than manages to retain plenty of the same appeal that's brought the affluent area so much worldwide attention. In this attractive cobblestoned neighborhood, a delectable variety of eateries, independent shops, galleries and street vendors offer a delightful window into how to live the good life in London, with each presenting visitors with an experience that's a little more idiosyncratic and endearing than the last. Travelers looking to forage for antiques should be sure to visit the Portobello Road Market on Saturdays, the largest antiques market in the United Kingdom.
