The Engineer is a relaxed, friendly neighborhood Dining Pub that has built its reputation for Organic, responsibly sourced food over the last fifteen years. With a beautiful restaurant, courtyard for summer dining, and function rooms available for hire, The Engineer is the perfect place to relax with friends and enjoy some serious food and drink in very un-serious surroundings. The food is an eclectic mix of super-fresh, well sourced ingredients influenced by many cuisine types and all made on the premises. There is an equally interesting 120+ bin wine list available too; focusing on small boutique producers in interesting places, organic and bio-dynamic wines and exceptional value for money.

Frommer was way wrong.

I read good things about this pub on Frommer, usually a reliable source. I was dinning alone. Waited by the door for someone to seat me. Had to ask the bartender who was the hostess. Finally got a table. Waited another 10 minutes before flagging someone to take my order. Got a burger that had... read more

I went to the Engineer last night for a friends birthday and its safe to say we will never go back. The service was slow, unprofessional and lacked any charm or interest. I ordered a chicken and avocado salad. Underwhelming to say the least. It arrived with no dressing, no avocado, cheap, tastless tomatoes and lettuce and had no flavour.... More

I've been to the Engineer a few times. It's a food experience that swings from OK to utter disaster. One thing guaranteed is it's never consistent. It's a Gastro Pub that rests on its laurels given its prime position in Primrose Hill. Today, I vowed I would never go back. The service, food and whole experience showed what utter lack... More

Ordered the aged rib eye steak for a late lunch...as we ordered at the bar we had to pay upfront. Aged rib eye steak, mmmm yum can't wait. Don't even mind that I have paid £22 (!!!) for my delicious steak that I am yet to eat. Unfortunately it came out like an old boot, and a child size old... More

After a long morning walk we decided to visit the Engineer for a meal, we were really hungry and I needed a steak! We had been here before on a Sunday and the meal was average but a friend insisted during the week it was good. On arriving I gave my card / had to enter my card and pin... More

We used to go to the Engineer a lot and have had many good meals but this recent visit will be our last. Lunch for four was really poor. I ordered a grilled chicken club and asked for no mayonnaise or tomatoes and it came with both. The chicken was almost certainly fried, dry and tasteless and the bread was... More

After seeing some of the mixed reviews we were wondering if eating here was going to be a mistake. We were pleasantly surprised as the food was really good, so was the wine! Staff were really good too! Would happily eat here again.

We got there for a late lunch. They were still serving. Between the three of us we had parsnip and honey soup for two - huge portions. I had a chicken liver parfait with toast and jam, followed by a yummy goat cheese risotto that I shared; and our daughter had a chicken burger with chips. With two beverages the... More

Over priced, terrible service and a waste of a beautiful building. Bad Terrible Didn't even manage to serve the ordered dish as described on the menu. I'm not being funny but who serves pork belly without crackling?!
