The Engineer is a relaxed, friendly neighborhood Dining Pub that has built its reputation for Organic, responsibly sourced food over the last fifteen years. With a beautiful restaurant, courtyard for summer dining, and function rooms available for hire, The Engineer is the perfect place to relax with friends and enjoy some serious food and drink in very un-serious surroundings. The food is an eclectic mix of super-fresh, well sourced ingredients influenced by many cuisine types and all made on the premises. There is an equally interesting 120+ bin wine list available too; focusing on small boutique producers in interesting places, organic and bio-dynamic wines and exceptional value for money.

Great late lunch

After seeing some of the mixed reviews we were wondering if eating here was going to be a mistake. We were pleasantly surprised as the food was really good, so was the wine! Staff were really good too! Would happily eat here again.

We used to go to the Engineer a lot and have had many good meals but this recent visit will be our last. Lunch for four was really poor. I ordered a grilled chicken club and asked for no mayonnaise or tomatoes and it came with both. The chicken was almost certainly fried, dry and tasteless and the bread was... More

We got there for a late lunch. They were still serving. Between the three of us we had parsnip and honey soup for two - huge portions. I had a chicken liver parfait with toast and jam, followed by a yummy goat cheese risotto that I shared; and our daughter had a chicken burger with chips. With two beverages the... More

Over priced, terrible service and a waste of a beautiful building. Bad Terrible Didn't even manage to serve the ordered dish as described on the menu. I'm not being funny but who serves pork belly without crackling?!

I've been to the Engineer a few times and particularly enjoy their lovely back yard in the summer. Their Sunday roast is perfectly agreeable and the pub is conveniently located near the primrose bakery (killer cupcakes). Prices are relatively steep however and other than the roast there isn't much to entertain. To complicate things further, they now only serve a... More

We went with friends for New Years Eve and everything exceeded our expectations. We had read some poor reviews after making the reservation and started to get concerned. But we were not disappointed although my wife's steak was not great. Several of us had fish and chips and enjoyed it a lot. The New Years Eve menu had a range... More

The decor is fine, the staff enthusiastic but overall you just don't get value for money .£15.40 for a basic fish and chip lunch, or £24.20 for a standard Rib eye and chips, seems a bit over the top. Our group of seven felt the menu choice was restrictive and some of the offering quite average for a bill of... More

Having gotten a tip from a colleague of mine and read at the website - we really expected a real gastro-pub meal. The pub is really Nice and a Nice feel to it. We had a table on a sunday at 12h:00 and the service was Nice. We had entres, main and desserts. All in all I'd say the Food... More

I took a friend here for a birthday, wanting to go somewhere that might be in some way 'special'. It certainly wasnt special but perhaps would have been nice for a dinner out on a normal occasion. The staff were average, it took a lot of effort to get their attention at points. We arrived at 730pm on a Saturday... More
