Description: Set in leafy Wandsworth Chez Bruce has rave reviews from critics and locals alike. Looking from the outside like a Parisian brassiere its set menu, £40 for 3 courses, is inspired by classic and regional French cuisine with a whiff of Spain and Italy. Seasonal Starters could include Warm Summer Vegetables with a Poached Duck Egg and Truffle Dressing or Quail Pithiviers with a Salade Paysanne. Mains are refreshingly different - Saddle of Rabbit with Creamed Girolles or Baked Goats Cheese with Caponata for the veggies. Desserts reflect the time of year such as Peach Sorbet with Peach and Ginger Compote. As you sit in its simply furnished dining room peruse its dazzling 43 page wine list ranges from European classics to rarer finds from around the globe including Canada.

Having had a glowing recommendation for this restaurant, we decided to visit to celebrate my birthday, and what a treat. From the moment you walk in, this is a special experience. Very welcoming and with nice dining area, the staff couldn't have been more attentive. They were very helpful with their guidance on the choices from the menu, and everything... More

6 of us went for lunch, my daughter and I are vegans and we were catered for admirably. The chef even made us our own special dessert. Nothing was too much trouble. Everyone enjoyed the food immensely. Every time one of us left the table the napkin was refolded and when the food was served and one of the party... More

It looks like it might be someone's front room from the outside, it's a really nice dining room atmosphere, enough light to read though, which is good. The staff were attentive, friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. The menu was not extensive, but everything on it looked absolutely amazing, I had venison tartare, which was to die for, the meat was perfect,... More

Great British food, beautifully cooked, well presented by skilled, well trained staff. A faultless evening. My pork cheek entrée and chickpea fritter main were excellent, as were my wife's pea and broadbean tartlet and chicken main. Extensive wine list with varied global selections. Our Oregon Pinot Noir which was recommended by the sommelier was excellent. Our waitress was well informed,... More

We dine a CB every time we are in London. The room is warm and contains good contemporary art. Service is warm and professional. My red mullet app was delicious as well as the cod. Chickpea fritters with eggplant was also prepared just right. Desserts are sumptuous. Finally it is not overpriced.

Have been to this place at least 3-4 times, always for lunch or brunch (never for dinner). The food is delicious, the wine list is incredible and the service is extremely friendly and accommodating. It is a bit of a trek to get there is you don't live in south west London but definitely worth it. The last time we... More

Went to Chez Bruce for sunday lunch after hearing so much about it. Though after reading many mixed reviews I had doubts and wanted to cancel- but I loved the cookbook so much I thought I should just give it a try. Firstly the service wasn't very good, amongst the worst I've experienced this year. When we were there, the... More

Booked well in advance and glad we did. Food met our expectations - with some extremely inventive looking dishes. In fact, we've just tried to recreate one of the starters which we've posted on our blog - forgetdietingforever.blogspot.com. The atmosphere was fantastic, and we thoroughly enjoyed our evening. The staff were hardworking and looked after us well. Will return again... More

Went here for a Valentine's meal, and loved it. The atmosphere was very nice, and it felt very relaxed and cozy. The service left a bit to be desired at first, but it became a lot better throughout the night. The food was nothing unexpected in the way of unique ingredients, a la Heston, but it was classic food, done... More

Though located in a suburb of London,it is well worth the short train ride from Victoria station. The food is just delicious. The staff is very friendly, low key and knowledgeable. The three of us loved our meals of cod, pork and scallops. The food is presented beautifully and it tastes as good as it looks. Our waitress loved desserts... More
