Beautiful, calm and tasteful with lovely food

Let's start with the foodie basics: Al Duca is secretly hidden in the best part of Piccadilly. The interior is cosy, the lighting just perfect, everything, including the waiting staff, is balanced not to intrude and to stress the fact that the customer has to enjoy the little details.. without a fuss! At Dinner, the ambiance was buzzing, the a'... More

We visited Al Duca about 3 weeks ago, but It was such a strange evening that I couldn't really get my head around it. This was our second visit. The first time was somewhere during our early married days, before kids, so about 15 years ago. We remembered it as being special. This time, it was an after-theatre birthday dinner... More

After some Saturday shopping on Bond Street and Jermyn Street, we decided to try Al Duca on the spur of the moment, hoping for an authentic italian experience. Al Duca didn't disappoint, we were speaking Italian when we entered and were greeted warmly by the Venetian and Sardinian staff. The atmosphere was relaxed, the restaurant is clean and not overly... Highly overrated. Food overpriced and unexciting, waitstaff indifferent, typical London-Italian experience. The only saving grace is the wine list, which has a tolerable, not overpriced Orvieto. But for the food to accompany this wine, please go to Umbria.

Had a business lunch last Friday . All was OK but nothing that can justify the rating and it seems as the waiters are being remunerated by the number of water bottles sold per table. Will not come back.

We dropped in for a pre-theatre meal. Although the restaurant was quite quiet, the level of service, welcome and cordiality of the attention we received was superb. We had a starter and main - scallops, carpaccio, crab linguine and italian pasta stew. All were absolutely superb and could not be faulted. Beautifully presented, full of taste, well cooked. We could... More

Proper Italian 3 course celebratory lunch with my son before he received his Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award at St James' Palace. Prompt but not rushed service, excellent prosecco by the glass, assorted flatbreads and bread with olive oil poured at the table, beef carpaccio and scallops for starters, modest plates of tagliolini with crab and chilli, and chicken to... On a side street away from the hustle and bustle of Piccadilly yet near enough to walk to several theatres. We ate here before going to the Prince of Wales Theatre. We were brought olive oil and a selection of Italian breads whilst we looked at the menu. The scallop starter was delicious as was the carpaccio. The main courses... More

Neighborhood Profile
St. James's
Perennially fashionable since the days of Henry VIII, the aristocratic “Clubland” of St James's is a premier destination for high end craft and bespoke design. Here you’ll lose count of the Royal Warrants (which indicate that the Royal Family patronizes the establishment) seen in shop front windows, even during a short stroll to bordering Green Park or St James’s Park. With the brightly lit and constantly buzzing junction of Piccadilly Circus at its northeast corner and none of Central London too far away, this is an surprisingly central and accessible part of town, especially given its prosperous demeanor.
