Magical little Italian

We dined at this secrete wonderful little restaurant as it was a stones throw from our hotel and it was truly wonderful. Food and service beautifully done. Would recommend this to anyone visiting London

My husband I I popped into Al Duca in between a rehearsal and a concert at St James'. We saw they had an early dinner menu and for a very reasonable £16.50 for two courses it seemed perfect as we only had an hour. Apart from being told rather shortly by the manager that we had to vacate the table... More

A friend recommended this restaurant as he'd been a customer for 25 years, which is a tribute in itself.. The food was absolutely fine and the service excellent. I didn't see the wine list, but it was clearly extensive and my host, being a buff, chose well ( with a price to match). It's clearly popular, and has a warm,... More

Al Duca is that strange beast, a reasonably priced restaurant for St. James. On the day of our visit, (Tuesday lunch), it was full - mostly with business persons and a few tourists. The atmosphere was really “buzzy” and it made for a very good lunch. I began with a mushroom and poached egg concoction, with a wonderfully crisp parmesan... More

Average atmosphere for a party of 10+ and good effort for serving a set meal for this number of people. The food was tasty but not "amazing", I ordered the fish which was good and I tried the chicken which was very different (it was also warm rather than hot). When they served the coffee it would be ideal to... More

We had an early dinner before attending the theater. The service was good and the food was excellent. We really enjoyed the variety of the bread that was served.

We have eaten here on several other trips but this time the food was not good. We had been looking forward to it and even brought a friend with us, but we won't be back. Service was terrific though.

We dined here early evening after a matinee theatre visit - our first time but it won't be our last. Lovely ambience, authentically Italian - my poached egg & mushroom starter was delicious as was my partners baby octopus, we both had the calves liver main which was cooked perfectly. A very extensive wine list that caters for all budgets.... More

I was recently invited to lunch with a client and was very surprised to betaken to this restaurant and had a very nice lunch, good service, very nice ambience and the food overall was very nice except the Calves Liver was served with only spinach (No potato) this was a bit of a surprise as anywhere else I have ordered... This is the second time we have dined at Al Duca and haven't been disappointed on either occasion. We rocked up at 8.30 pm without a reservation and although the restaurant was busy we had no trouble in finding a table for two. Service was friendly, prompt and efficient. No starters, but excellent bread and olive oil to munch whilst... More

Staying in St. James's

Neighborhood Profile
St. James's
Perennially fashionable since the days of Henry VIII, the aristocratic “Clubland” of St James's is a premier destination for high end craft and bespoke design. Here you’ll lose count of the Royal Warrants (which indicate that the Royal Family patronizes the establishment) seen in shop front windows, even during a short stroll to bordering Green Park or St James’s Park. With the brightly lit and constantly buzzing junction of Piccadilly Circus at its northeast corner and none of Central London too far away, this is an surprisingly central and accessible part of town, especially given its prosperous demeanor.
