Perfect homemade Egyption food

I have been to this resturant many times, and never had any bad experience in there. The food is great (Egyptian). On top of that , their prices are reasonable considering the quality of the food.

This small family-run restaurant has a homely atmosphere and serves the best Egyptian food I have tasted out of Egypt. The molokhia was perfect and the falafel the best I have ever tasted! Good, friendly service especially from the Lady (owner's wife). Do visit!

I am going alone or with a colleague at Ali Baba, regularly. Let's be clear, the family members welcoming you have quite limited skills in being friendly, especially the lady (spouse owner) who barely smiles. Nothing rude here I believe, they just don't know much about service and are quite dry (the owner is a bit nicer, their daughter much... More

We have been eating here for more than twenty years and regularly go with Egyptian friends. It is a small family-run place which from the street looks like a take-away joint but behind that is a modest room which is the restaurant. The menu is authentically Middle Eastern and especially Egyptian and the mezze selection is all one would expect... More

I have been eating here regularly since 1982. The high quality of its food and service has never wavered. Everything is excellent but you must not miss: tabouleh, mutabel, & chicken kebab.

I dined here with my girlfriend on a Friday evening. We arrived quite late, around 9.30pm, and were told that we had to sit in the front part of the restaurant, that resembles a takeaway, rather than the back part, even though it looked as if there were seats available. My partner went for the moussaka which she seemed to... More

Approached this place with some reluctance as the exterior looks like a run of the mill kebab house. However were drawn in by the very pleasant young woman who came out and gave us a menu. On venturing inside discovered small, authentic family run basic restaurant serving freshly cooked, delicious Egyptian food - as they have done since 1979. I... More

I have been there a few times, some plates are exceptionally nice. It could be much better with some attention, small plats as a main course and this does not help. The service is family run and could improve with deeper thoughts. Attention by the owners would keep people coming back.

A just returned from another visit to the Ali Baba. This is a small family run restaurant tucked away off Gloucester Place, near Baker Street. The restaurant offers authentic Egyptian and middle eastern cuisine at a reasonable price. Mostly when we have gone there over half the customers have been from the middle east so a good indication that the... More

I have been to Ali Baba many times and always have found the family to be quiet but friendly in service. Food always comes quickly and is always nice ! I have not been disappointed once. The humus, falafels, sausage, etc are standing orders for me. Decor is basic; takeaway counter in the front and walk through to the back... More

Staying in Marylebone

Neighborhood Profile
Marylebone
Marylebone offers what so many London neighborhoods cannot: a village feel coupled with urban convenience. Much of its success rests in its location. Wedged between the northeastern corner of Hyde Park and the southern end of Regent's Park and with a number of Tube stations within easy reach, Marylebone is as pedestrian friendly as Central London gets. The bustling shopping mecca of Oxford Street separates it from Soho and Mayfair, exclusive Regent Street marks its border with Fitzrovia, and cosmopolitan Edgware Road serves as its western edge. Within this enviably situated quarter are an array of outstanding restaurants (from Michelin darlings to down and dirty cheeseburgers), an impressive assortment of independently owned shops, and some of the city's quietest and most pleasant nooks, crannies and cobbled lanes.
