I have been there a few times, some plates are exceptionally nice. It could be much better with some attention, small plats as a main course and this does not help. The service is family run and could improve with deeper thoughts. Attention by the owners would keep people coming back.

A just returned from another visit to the Ali Baba. This is a small family run restaurant tucked away off Gloucester Place, near Baker Street. The restaurant offers authentic Egyptian and middle eastern cuisine at a reasonable price. Mostly when we have gone there over half the customers have been from the middle east so a good indication that the... More

I have been to Ali Baba many times and always have found the family to be quiet but friendly in service. Food always comes quickly and is always nice ! I have not been disappointed once. The humus, falafels, sausage, etc are standing orders for me. Decor is basic; takeaway counter in the front and walk through to the back... More

Very sample family pub. Egyptian don't sell any kind of alcohol, but there is no problem to buy it from nearest shop. Food is arabian - kebaps, fresh salads, rice. Cheap prices. Average service. Not good ventilation.

This establishment has a great relaxed and family run feeling to it. The restuarant is at the back of the building and the service that I received was of a good standard. The food was delicious and I wouldn’t hesitate in recommending this place to anybody that fancied trying some good Arabic food at an affordable price.

No-frills middle eastern cooking. Very generous portions at a great price, although not memorable quality. Note there is no alcohol available - adding to the authenticity

I've just returned from Cairo & was delighted to discover this little gem of a restaurant. A slightly limited menu but the food was amazing, ( especially the Um Ali dessert!!) The restaurant is very small & fills up v quickly so book ahead to avoid disappointment. looking forward to my next visit already!

It was a very good experience. We are Egyptians who live in Aberdeen and decided to visit London for a short holiday. Discovered this place by accident and it was a very nice discovery. Good food, good service and for the first time in 1 ½ years we can eat out an authentic meal, they even put Om Kolthom on... More

Disregard its slightly unwelcoming looking exterior because this place is a diamond in the rough. It is a true egyptian experience as the staff are all from Egypt and are very friendly. We have a personal link to Egypt so our standards are already set high and we were not disappointed. Food was brought out as it was cooked so... More

Fast service for late night diners. Put smiles on the faces of both vegetarians and carnivores alike. It was the first okra experience of our entire family (having heard horror stories of slimy vegetable!) It was great! My 6 and 10 year old children also loved it! The shish kabob and grilled chicken were also good. The servers didn't speak... More
