Opened in 1946 in Mayfair, Franco's restaurant has been one of London's most popular Italian establishments ever since. It continues to offer local gourmets a tranquil oasis away from the buzz of the city. Set at the St Jamess end of Jermyn Street, Franco's is fantastically located for the galleries, private clubs and hotels of the area. And the pre-theatre and afternoon tea menus are a delight. The restaurants character evolves throughout the day from the early morning breakfasts to laid-back lunches and romantic candlelit dinners in the evening. The elegant 1940s-inspired dcor is bright and modern, with light wood, off-white walls and comfy upholstered dining chairs. Franco's sumptuous Mediterranean menu has been developed by Head Chef Paulo Parlanti and showcases fresh seasonal produce in traditional and modern Italian dishes. Popular dishes include the duck breast with Castelluccio lentils; ossobucco ravioli with veal jus; and the classic tiramisu. Service is flawless and the wine list is a winner too.

Good Italian

Had a quick business lunch here and the staff saw that we were 'in and out' fast, as we requested. Very good lamb chops and a mixed salad. Sadly we couldn't partake in what looked like a hearty wine list. Next time!

We all liked our dinners, but it was one of the most expensive dinners we had in London and it did not seem the worth of cost. My ratings are just based on the value of the dinner. It is a dressy place also...we had asked The Ritz for something casual and this was their idea of casual - NOT!

What I love about this place is their no nonsense approach. A professional greeting at the door followed by immediate and impeccable table service and and a joyous meal whatever your selection. On a recent visit the burata was outstanding.

Very hot day, transport crowded and horrible.so decided to stop for orange juice and coffee. Waitress was welcoming, and looked after my shopping whilst I went to the toilet. Top class soap, and the place was spotless. Thought I`d found heaven. Orange juice was good.It cost £4.50. Then came the coffee, and it was stone cold. That was £4.00. It was changed immediately, but I... More

Wanting a light business lunch, I chose an octopus carpaccio with fennel and orange and a vitello tonnat The octopus was very fresh and beautifully prepared and presented, but a under-seasoned. The vitello tonnato, however, was one of the best versions of this dish I can remember - again beautifully presented, but also with enormous depth of flavour and perfect... More

My husband brought me here as a surprise- starting with a little glass of bubbly in the bar/waiting area, then we had dinner. I felt a moment of discomfort in the dinning area- beautiful well- healed clientele- but actually, the staff were very friendly, and the locals and atmosphere were also relaxed, so it made for a very comfortable evening.... My sons - typically picky eaters - ordered the lamb chops and I think they had finished the plates before the waiter finished serving the rest of the family! My tuna dish was fantastic as there was just a bit of crispness to the outer shell and the inside was done in a perfect medium temperature. The chef was kind... More

Staying in St. James's

Neighborhood Profile
St. James's
Perennially fashionable since the days of Henry VIII, the aristocratic “Clubland” of St James's is a premier destination for high end craft and bespoke design. Here you’ll lose count of the Royal Warrants (which indicate that the Royal Family patronizes the establishment) seen in shop front windows, even during a short stroll to bordering Green Park or St James’s Park. With the brightly lit and constantly buzzing junction of Piccadilly Circus at its northeast corner and none of Central London too far away, this is an surprisingly central and accessible part of town, especially given its prosperous demeanor.
