Description: Opened in 1946 in Mayfair, Franco's restaurant has been one of London's most popular Italian establishments ever since. It continues to offer local gourmets a tranquil oasis away from the buzz of the city. Set at the St Jamess end of Jermyn Street, Franco's is fantastically located for the galleries, private clubs and hotels of the area. And the pre-theatre and afternoon tea menus are a delight. The restaurants character evolves throughout the day from the early morning breakfasts to laid-back lunches and romantic candlelit dinners in the evening. The elegant 1940s-inspired dcor is bright and modern, with light wood, off-white walls and comfy upholstered dining chairs. Franco's sumptuous Mediterranean menu has been developed by Head Chef Paulo Parlanti and showcases fresh seasonal produce in traditional and modern Italian dishes. Popular dishes include the duck breast with Castelluccio lentils; ossobucco ravioli with veal jus; and the classic tiramisu. Service is flawless and the wine list is a winner too.

Went as part of a large group dining downstairs in the big dining room - friendly, efficient staff offered coat check, led to table, very attentive service (water, wine topped up always), nice food (crab/avocado, fillet steak, creme brulee) - was full upstairs everyone seemed happy, I'd go back. Tip: it's at the end of Jermyn Street nearer the Ritz,... More

An old haunt that I have not visited for some time. Went with my wife for a pre theatre supper. Excellent and attentive service and good food at fair prices. I had mixed meats as a starter followed by cuttlefish and wife had braseola followed by salmon. Amazing petit fours to follow. Total cost with wine £78.

Dear reviewer Naturally we are disappointed to read of your dissatisfaction with your coffees which we will look into and try and work out what went wrong on this occasion. We serve in excess of 400 coffees a day and rarely receive negative feedback which has drawn our attention to this area. None the less I'm sorry the coffee was... More

Here's an London Italian restaurant that not only is an institution, but is classy, discreet, tasty, high quality... All the characteristics of a solid venue, especially for business. Great food and great Italian wine list... Not to mention great art work too! Just don't go there to show off, you'll be disappointed, it's just not that kind of place.

We were booked in for 5.30pm on Friday night for a pre-theatre meal. The restaurant was empty when we arrived (which was to be expected at that time) but the setting and decor was nice. We were given the a la carte menu, so I asked to look at the pre-theatre one as I had seen it advertised on their... More

Franco's maintains high standards - the menu is great and the food excellent. Amazing wine list. Jason, the manager, is charming; the staff, courteous and efficient. One of the best Italian restaurants in the West End, and a wonderful place to have a long lunch!
