Good food

Nice feed in the evening. Very helpful and friendly waitress. Pub was busy with people drinking before catching their trains from Liverpool Street.

Arranged to meet friends here for a quick pint and some food. Traditional London pub, very friendly staff, nice and helpful. Selection of ales on draught was quite good, seemed to be mainly Cornish ales when we were there. Not that busy on a Thursday lunchtime so easy to get a table on the balcony to eat. Prompt service and... More

Another well kept Nicholson pub. Wonderful period decor as you expect and nice seated area balcony. Quite cosy and close to Liverpool St station so can be very busy at times. And good selection of ales.

A fire alarm at King's Cross Underground Station brought us here as the train could not stop at the station. This pub is in the side street just outside Liverpool Street station. Lord Aberconway is a Nicholson's Pub and the similarities with other pubs in their chain show. As we were here for early dinner we found us a table... More

Just around the corner from Liverpool Street Station, a typical London Pub serving reasonably priced food (£10 average for sausage and mash etc) and drinks (beers, cocktails and wine (£4 average per glass)). Full of 'city businessmen' enjoying the end of the week, hence quite noisy and full. Worth a visit but there are better pubs around

The look of the place was amazing! The location is great, right next to the stations! Unfortunately lacklustre staff and mediocre food ruined the experience. We ordered a pulled pork burger only to find out it was a standard burger with a tiny portion of pulled pork on top. Rather disappointing. Still rather tasty but not what the menu described.

Had a good meal here on a Saturday afternoon. I had the pork and black pudding sausages and mash. Three very tasty sausages on a bed of good quality mash and light gravy and good onion rings. My partner had the Iberian Black Pig and Apple burger which was very tasty and there was plenty on the platter. Of the... More

The humble power of the written word will almost certainly not do justice to this fine watering establishment. When I was growing up I dreamed of being a swashbuckling banker, drinking in City bars and chatting up women in a pinstripe suit. Although life never quite turns out how you planned it, it is fair to say this venue helped... More

Staying in City of London

Neighborhood Profile
City of London
From its ancient past as a Roman trading outpost to its 21st century status as the wealthiest square mile in the world, the financial district known simply as “The City” is one of London's most historic and fascinating neighborhoods. Here high rise office towers such as Norman Foster’s Gherkin mingle with Roman ruins and architectural marvels from virtually every era in between, including Christopher Wren's glorious St.Paul's Cathedral, and John Soane's dauntingly classicist Bank of England. This neighborhood is also home to some of the finest restaurants and plushest hotels in Europe, in addition to an assortment of of watering holes, upscale shops, and Tube stations. During the week, the City is abuzz with white collar workers going about their business; the weekend sees this area turn into a quiet haven for sightseers.
