Description: Passionate restauranteurs and friends for almost ten years, owners Salvo and Peppe decided to live their dream and open Tziganos (pronounced with a silent T "ziganos"). Hailing from southern Italy and Sicily, Salvo and Peppe both believe that meal times are an experience we should all enjoy. Getting together with friends in a relaxing enviroment and sharing delicious dishes over good wine is an essential part of Mediterranean life and now can be experienced in the heart of Blackheath! The name translates to "wandering gypsy". Like the wandering Tzigano, our menu consists of a wide range of dishes from all corners of the Mediterranean including, Italian and Spanish cuisine such as tapas, pastas, paella, homemade pizzas and a selection of fresh fish and meat from our handmade charcoal grill. We pride ourselves on the quality of our dishes and the highest quality of service around. You can book a table with us and be safe in the knowledge that your meal will meet and exceed your expectations. Come and try any of our chefs specialities or beautifully prepared traditional, Mediterranean favourites and you will not be disappointed. Kick back and unwind with one of our hand-crafted cocktails or carefully chosen wines and let us guide you through the sensational flavors of the Mediterranean.

My partner and I were walking around Blackheath looking for somewhere to eat when we came across Tziganos, it looked nice and cosy and busy, which is always a good sign. It went in and asked if they had a table, all the empty tablese were reserved but they were very accommodating and offered us a table that was reserved for... More

Very friendly and accommodating people. The food is delicious, and the choice on the menu is really wide. I personally love the vegetarian platter, the gambas al ajillo, padron peppers...you are sure to find something that you like The wine list is a good selection of italian wines which your host will help choose from. Great Mediterranean experience, you are... More

Best authentic Spanish food I have had for a very long time. Tziganos should be recommended for serving up a variety of solid Spanish tapas and main courses. The tapas were brilliant and a good variety. We went with my future Daughter-in-law and twin boys and had a very good meal and wine.

This is my first visit to Tziganos and I was not disappointed. I love tapas and really enjoyed it here. Much better to visit a family run true establishment than the chain restaurants in every other high street. Warmly welcomed on arrival and shown to a nice little spot at the back of the restaurant, it was half full at... More

I had a meal here the other night after reading the reviews and let me tell you it is amazing, from the food to the service no complaints. Food might take long time but when one have booked A party its not to be in and out the door in 1 hour, you want to enjoy the company that's with... More

This is our 4th time at Tziganos and I feel so welcomed every time we come in. Greeted with a warm smile and open arms by the lovely staff, my husband and I always seat ourselves at the bar by the window. Their ambiance is warm and the wine list is very moreish. Tapas is our favourite but we came... More

Place had clearly been deliberately over booked, with our party crammed into an upstairs room with another 12 people. The restaurant clearly coudn't cope, either with the kitchen capacity or with the number of service staff. Took almost 2 hours to be served food, and was told to eat elsewhere if I didn;t like it when I advised the manager... More

A group of us went out for a family meal to celebrate my stepfathers birthday. We ordered after waiting for 30 minutes and waited an hour and a half for our food to arrive. The food was okay but many of us had lost our appetites by the time it finally arrived. When my stepfather enquiried with the manager as... More

I went there with my family on a Monday night, we enjoyed the steak on the half price and the tapas were fantastic, great atmosphere, friendly staff! Will definitely go back soon! Maybe on a Wednesday when they have the offer with paella a sangria!

Yes it can take a while to arrive if v.busy as they do not use microwaves or frozen meals. This is way way better than Cote , Strada , or French MacDonalds opp ( Cafe Rouge). Owner Salvo is from southern Italy by way of running Zero Degrees next door and as a cocktail shaker in his youth. Both show... More
