Great Japanese afternoon tea

I booked a Japanese afternoon tea experience via Livingsocial and we weren't disappointed: the food was excellent (specially the cakes I have to say!), with beautiful presentation. BE WARNED - this restaurant has now closed! My friend and I arrived at the Tower Bridge Hilton this evening having booked a table earlier this week via the Hilton's website to be advised that the restaurant has closed. The maitre d' seemed utterly amazed that we had a reservation, even though we were able to show him the confirmation... More

N51°30'16.3" W0°5'0.9" Because of our late arrival in April 2013 we asked the Takara sushi bar inside the lobby of the Hilton London Tower Bridge hotel to prepare some sushi. They were already closing, but soon we were enjoying fine sushi in the hotel lobby with a Japanese beer, off course. Knowing the real thing from our visits to Japan,... More

I booked this via an Amazon local deal as part of my girlfriends birthday celebrations. I thought it should be nice as Takara is sited in the Hilton Tower foyer. I wasn't disappointed. They offered us seating in the foyer and at the bar, so we sat at the bar so you could watch the Itamae preparing food. The service... More

The sushi here is something else, amazing. Easily the best sushi I have ever had. We had salad and a platter. The platter had a wide range of sushi, with the most common kinds, but also a really good eel sushi, and deserving a special mention, the crispy crab sushi. It was incredibly good. Everything tasted really fresh. The staff... More

Visited last night with a voucher deal for a sushi platter for two and bottle of prosecco. We were seated in the hotel lobby as seats were reserved at the bar. The lobby was very comfortable. Waiting staff were lovely, very attentive and thorough. Each sushi dish was described by the staff with attention to detail and tasted absolutely amazing!... More

Service was excellent. Quality of food great. It is true that there were only 8 seats at the bar but it was possible have a seat in front of the bar or you could wait until seats get free. We were there in time and therefore we could sit at the bar and watch cook creating our sushi. Please beware... More

I bought a voucher which included a sushi platter and a bottle of champagne and another one which included a bottle of wine. I hadn't realised that the restaurant was actually inside the Hilton Hotel as the address was 5 More London Place. It's a very cool, elegant space and although there are only a few seats at the bar,... More

Our huge sushi platter was very nice. We really enjoyed the calm decor and veiled views of the hustle and bustle outside. The service was very good.

Staying in Southwark

Neighborhood Profile
Southwark
Even before the arrival of the instantly iconic Shard, the riverside scene in Southwark had moved well beyond any up-and-coming phase of development. For quite some time, locals and out-of-towners alike have loved browsing the boutiques of Bermondsey High Street, foraging through the bounteous stalls at centuries old foodie haven Borough Market, and flocking to the banks of the Thames to enjoy some of Britain's biggest attractions such as Tate Modern and Shakespeare's Globe. Despite Southwark's many popular draws, instant calm can be achieved easily by turning down almost any side street. For more urban buzz, a quick stroll across famed bridges like the pedestrianized Millennium Bridge or the ever photogenic Tower Bridge yields access to the very core of Central London. And with London Bridge Station as this neighborhood's main transportation hub, getting across town (or to anywhere in England for that matter) is a relative breeze.
